Donald W. Winnicott

In this talk to the International Congress of Child Psychiatry in Lisbon, Winnicott discusses what may be the best treatment for the children who need help during the latency period of their development. He does not distinguish child psychiatry from child analytic treatments, but rather feels that any therapist working in this area would benefit from an analytic training. He feels that allowing for playing rather than talking during treatment is important and recognizes that it is largely the very ill child that will be brought for treatment at this stage of life.
