Abstract ALUMINUM 710.0 is a natural-aging aluminum alloy produced by sand casting. It develops high mechanical properties without a quenching heat treatment. This alloy has high resistance to shock and excellent resistance to corrosion. Aluminum 710.0 is recommended for highly stressed castings. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Al-247. Producer or source: Various aluminum companies.

A low-carbon low-alloy steel corresponding to Grade X42 according to API SPEC 5L and resistant to hydrogen sulfide environments has been developed. Heat treatment conditions have been optimized. The heat treatment recommended provides for the corrosion resistance and desired level of finished product mechanical properties. Welded joints of pipes made of the developed steel have successfully passed benchmark tests carried out at Astrakhan gas-condensate field.

The 7N01 aluminum alloys are always used in vehicles, but heat treatment can deteriorate mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, which limits its utilization. In this paper, the influences of the temperature of heat straightening on the corrosion behavior and mechanical properties of 7N01 aluminum alloy are investigated. Most of the initial Guinier Preston (GP) zones dissolve into the matrix during heat treatment process, while the grain boundary precipitates have no obvious change. The precipitates of the samples after heat treatment mainly consist of high density GP zones due to the natural aging effect, which result in the recovery of micro-hardness. Although heat treatment decreases the mechanical properties of 7N01 aluminum alloy, there is no obvious difference in mechanical properties of the specimens after different heat treatment conditions. The corrosion resistance of heat treatment samples decreases significantly compared with the base metal, which is attributed to enhancing the difference between the potential of the alloy matrix and the grain boundary.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to predict and optimize the width of heat affected zone (HAZ) with better mechanical properties using suitable welding process and parameters for the fabrication of jet blast deflector (JBD) (high strength low alloy material of grade A588-B was used for fabrication) so that the JBD can sustain high exhaust parameters, because there are different welding zones formed due to the rapid cooling of weld metals. Out of the various zones of welding, HAZ remains the weakest zone in the entire weldment. Design/methodology/approach The present work describes the modeling, simulation, Modeling of three-dimensional plate and mess generation process are carried out using ICEM CFD software. FLUENT 16.0 software is used for ANSYS simulation where various models are used for analysis and results are validated with the experimental outcomes. High strength low alloy plates are welded by using shielded metal arc welding and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding processes with two different electrodes. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used for metallurgical study. The mechanical properties were evaluated by tensile strength test, vickers microhardness test and impact test. The corrosion resistance was evaluated by performing the potentiodynamic polarization test. Findings The present study indicated for better mechanical properties and improved corrosion resistance for TIG welded joints with type 308 L filler. Practical implications In aeronautical, defense, space and research organizations. Originality/value It can be shown from the scanning electron microscope technique that sound weld joint is produced with very good mechanical properties and joint also showed better corrosion resistance.
