The quality deterioration in the post-production process of fresh products is very serious, and the life-cycle freshness-keeping technology investment is an effective way to reduce the deterioration. Because the investment cost is high in practice, enterprises need to allocate special funds for each stage to maximize their marginal revenue. In this paper, we use freshness to characterize the quality level of fresh products and investigate a maximize marginal revenue problem where a firm assigns special funds for the freshness-keeping effort with each post-production process. An optimal freshness-keeping model with the constraints of special funds is discussed. The investigation shows that both the optimal freshness-keeping effort and the closed-form optimal solutions of enterprises exist uniquely. A reasonable freshness-keeping investment in different post-production processes can improve the performance of enterprises with limited fund constraints. We then simulate the effect rules of funds constraint on these solutions based on numerical analysis and give some management insights.

AbstractThe quality of salt is very determined by the treatment and handling given during the pre-production, production and post-production processes. Pb contamination in salt can be sourced from the marine environment as raw material in the process of making salt, the soil environment as a medium / place of salt production and the air environment where the salt production process takes place in an open area. The aim of research was to analyze levels of lead heavy metals (Pb) of salt in Pamekasan Regency. This research is a descriptive analysis. The techniques of data collecting of this research are observation and interview. Observations indicate that the average level of heavy metal lead (Pb) in Pamekasan regency is still below the maximum limit specified in SNI 3556-2010 and SNI 7387-2009 is <10 ppm which is the lowest grade of 0.066 ppm and grade the highest is 0.162 ppm. The salt production process is not in accordance with established standards The Therefore, the need for good handling in pre-production, production processes to post-production of salt production so that Pb levels do not increase.

SummaryThe paper demonstrates the compatibility between competition as a rivalry among firms and increasing returns resulting from innovative choice. The analysis offers the prospect of a general theory of economic evolution. It is carried out by means of a model, which makes it possible to exhibit the time structure of production processes and to sketch out the sequential interaction of decisions in a process of restructuring of productive capacities for the whole economy. It shows that several firms can coexist in the market, despite the existence of increasing returns, yet remain differentiated not so much because they supply differentiated goods, but because they are each one at a different stage of the life cycle of the production process.

This study raised the issue of understanding salt farmers about the halal products starting from pre-production, production processes, and post-production in Gampong Cebrek, Kecamatan Simpang Tiga, Pidie District. The purpose of this research is to find out the understanding of salt farmers about the halal nature of the product and what are the constraints of salt farmers related to efforts to manage product halal guarantee. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, and uses a sample selection technique with the provisions of the characteristics and characteristics of objects in a purposive sampling study, the data collection technique is done in three ways, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants were four salt farmers and keuchik Gampong (village head) Cebrek. The results showed that the understanding of salt farmers in terms of pre-production was good, the production process was quite good and post-production was good. The obstacle factor of salt farmers related to product halal guarantee is that the income and expenditure of salt farmers are not comparable or still low so it is not enough to carry out the halal label management process, and is also constrained in the fencing of salt fields. Here there needs to be attention and role from the government, LPPOM (Institute of Studies, Food, Medicine and Cosmetics)-MPU (Ulama Consultative Assembly) Aceh to guide salt farmers to immediately fence off their salt fields so that the salt production process is better so that it meets the standards halal products. Keywords: Understanding of salt farmers, halal products.

The 2030 climate and energy framework includes EU-wide targets and policy objectives for the period 2021–2030 of (1) at least 55% cuts in greenhouse gas emissions (from 1990 levels); (2) at least 32% share for renewable energy; and (3) at least 32.5% improvement in energy efficiency. In this context, the methodology of the cost-optimal level from the life-cycle cost approach has been applied to calculate the cost of renovating the existing building stock in Europe. The aim of this research is to analyze a pilot building using the cost-optimal methodology to determine the renovation measures that lead to the lowest life-cycle cost during the estimated economic life of the building. The case under study is an apartment building located in a mild Mediterranean climate (Castellon, SP). A package of 12 optimal solutions has been obtained to show the importance of the choice of the elements and systems for renovating building envelopes and how energy and economic aspects influence this choice. Simulations have shown that these packages of optimal solutions (different configurations for the building envelope, thermal bridges, airtightness and ventilation, and domestic hot water production systems) can provide savings in the primary energy consumption of up to 60%.

Industry 4.0, a term invented by Wolfgang Wahlster in Germany, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021. Still, the digitalization of the production environment is one of the hottest topics in the computer science departments at universities and companies. Optimization of production processes or redefinition of the production concepts is meaningful in light of the current industrial and research agendas. Both the mentioned optimization and redefinition are considered in numerous subtopics and technologies. One of the most significant topics in these areas is the newest findings and applications of artificial intelligence (AI)—machine learning (ML) and deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs). The authors invented a method and device that supports the wiring assembly in the control cabinet production process, namely, the Wire Label Reader (WLR) industrial system. The implementation of this device was a big technical challenge. It required very advanced IT technologies, ML, image recognition, and DCNN as well. This paper focuses on an in-depth description of the underlying methodology of this device, its construction, and foremostly, the assembly industrial processes, through which this device is implemented. It was significant for the authors to validate the usability of the device within mentioned production processes and to express both advantages and challenges connected to such assembly process development. The authors noted that in-depth studies connected to the effects of AI applications in the presented area are sparse. Further, the idea of the WLR device is presented while also including results of DCNN training (with recognition results of 99.7% although challenging conditions), the device implementation in the wire assembly production process, and its users’ opinions. The authors have analyzed how the WLR affects assembly process time and energy consumption, and accordingly, the advantages and challenges of the device. Among the most impressive results of the WLR implementation in the assembly process one can be mentioned—the device ensures significant process time reduction regardless of the number of characters printed on a wire.

Pavement maintenance and rehabilitation programming requires the consideration of conflicting objectives to optimize its life-cycle costs. While there are several approaches to solve multiobjective problems for pavement management systems, when user costs or environmental impacts are considered the optimal solutions are often impractical to be accepted by road agencies, given the dominating share of user costs in the total life-cycle costs. This paper presents a two-stage optimization methodology that considers maximization of pavement quality and minimization of agency costs as the objectives to be optimized at the pavement section level, while at the network level, the objectives are to minimize agency and user costs. The main goal of this approach is to provide decision makers with a range of optimal solutions from which a practically implementable one could be selected by the agency. A sensitivity analysis and some trade-off graphics illustrate the importance in balancing all the objectives to obtain reasonable solutions for highway agencies. Multiobjective optimization problems at both levels are solved using genetic algorithms. The results of a case study indicate the applicability of the methodology.
