ICMPv6 is the newest version of internet control message protocol, whose main purpose is to send error message indicating packet processing failure. It is know that ICMPv6 is technologically vulnerable. One of those vulnerabilities is the ICMPv6 RA flooding vulnerability, which can lead to systems in Local Area Network slow down or full stop. This paper will discuss Windows (XP, 7, 8.1) and Linux Ubuntu 14 operating systems resistance to RA flooding attack research and countermeasures to minimize this vulnerability.

There is often more than one kind of operating systems in enterprises’ and organizations’ local area network. Therefore, exchanging visits under different operating systems would be very meaningful and important. Especially in the field of bioinformatics, in order to meet the requirements of researchers from various disciplines, such as mathematics, biology and computer science, we develop a new, intuitive and convenient system for exchanging resources between Windows and Linux.

ABSTRACT   Islamic University”45” computer network needs a safe network to strengthen the network security systems to protect servers from attacks such as Port Scanning and DoS attack (Denial of Service). One of the network security techniques is De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) that is a mechanism to protect the internal system from hacker attacks or other parties who want to enter the system with no access. The purpose of this Project is to implement LAN network security system using De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) technique, with a single firewall that supports the internal and external networks. The results of the DMZ technique implementation at the Islamic University's "45", it is found that filter DoS attack can be implemented well.  Data analysis results show DoS attack with the type of ICMP Flooding attack, and UDP Flooding attack can be blocked with Percentage of success is 98%. The objective of this paper is to report findings from simulating and testing local area network (LAN) connectivity using Windows XP operating system and Cisco Networking Academy network devices. In this study, a simple routing protocol, RIP, is used as routing protocol. Two different techniques, Cisco Networking Academy hardware lab and Cisco Packet Tracer 4, were used to compare their performance to simulate network connectivity. Primary findings showed that the settings of the Windows XP firewall on the host computer have a direct impact on the test results. These findings are critical as there are no similar reports in the literature and only a careful investigation allowed the researchers to come to this conclusion. Furthermore, study results also offer suggestions for fixing problems that hinder simulation results of LANs that use Windows XP workstations. These findings can help CCNA students and faculty understand the reasons for unexplained connectivity problems when performing CCNA labs. The study also provides a simple method to avoid connectivity problems when using Windows ping.exe and tracert.exe which implement the TCP/IP protocol ICMP

Abstract Through this document, you want to display a model of technological solution to counteract the obsolescence of computer equipment through the measurement of the performance of Linux operating systems and Windows on each of the machines available, to obtain better their performance and achieve assembly of small computer networks, and contribute in the process of digital inclusion in the region. The project's objective is to analyze the computers with different operating systems and verify the performance of each, to see which one has better performance, involving the proper use of equipment with high degrees of obsolescence. KeywordsLinux Distributions, Obsolescence, Local Area Network.

This report focusses on the planning and realization of an interdisciplinary local area network (LAN) for medical research at the University of Heidelberg. After a detailed requirements analysis, several networks were evaluated by means of a test installation, and a cost-performance analysis was carried out. At present, the LAN connects 45 (IBM-compatible) PCs, several heterogeneous mainframes (IBM, DEC and Siemens) and provides access to the public X.25 network and to wide-area networks for research (EARN, BITNET). The network supports application software that is frequently needed in medical research (word processing, statistics, graphics, literature databases and services, etc.). Compliance with existing “official” (e.g., IEEE 802.3) and “de facto” standards (e.g., PostScript) was considered to be extremely important for the selection of both hardware and software. Customized programs were developed to improve access control, user interface and on-line help. Wide acceptance of the LAN was achieved through extensive education and maintenance facilities, e.g., teaching courses, customized manuals and a hotline service. Since requirements of clinical routine differ substantially from medical research needs, two separate networks (with a gateway in between) are proposed as a solution to optimally satisfy the users’ demands.

Now a days in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) used in different fields because its well-suited simulator and higher flexibility. The concept of WLAN  with  advanced 5th Generation technologies, related to a Internet-of-Thing (IOT). In this project, representing the Network Simulator (NS-2) used linked-level simulators for Wireless Local Area Networks and still utilized IEEE 802.11g/n/ac with advanced IEEE 802.11ah/af technology. Realization of the whole Wireless Local Area Networking linked-level simulators inspired by the recognized Vienna Long Term Evolution- simulators. As a outcome, this is achieved to link together that simulator to detailed performances of Wireless Local Area Networking with Long Term Evolution, operated in the similar RF bands. From the advanced 5th Generation support cellular networking, such explore is main because different coexistences scenario can arise linking wireless communicating system to the ISM and UHF bands.
