This study was designed to follow up whether or not the creativity of adolescents showed significant changes in the 9th and 12h grades and is a longitudinal study. Correlational screening model, which is one of the descriptive methods, was used in this study. The sample group consisted of a total of 145 (76 girls, 69 boys) adolescents who were attending Yozgat High School in the city center of Yozgat, Turkey in the 2014–2015 school year and were selected from the 9th grade by using random sampling method. When the sample group came to the 12th grade, the number of the adolescents decreased to 136 (72 girls, 64 boys). The analyses were made based on the data collected from 136 adolescents who were available in the 12th grade. General Information Form and Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (Figural Form A) were used as the data collection tool. In the data analysis, frequency from descriptive statistics, Paired-Samples T-Test for repeated measures and t-test for unrelated measures were applied. As a result of the study, it was found that the scores of the fluency scores and resistance to premature closure scores of the adolescents who participated in the study in the 9th grade significantly differed from their fluency scores and resistance to premature closure scores in the 12th grade, and this differentiation was in favor of the fluency and resistance to premature closure scores of the 9th grade. Their elaboration scores in the 9th grade differed statistically significantly from their elaboration scores in the 12th grade and this differentiation was in favor of their elaboration points in the 12th grade (p <.05). The scores of abstractness of the titles in the 9th grade were in favor of the scores of female adolescents and also the fluency scores of the participants in the 12th grade were in favor of male adolescents and this differed statistically based on gender (p <.05).

AbstractWide dynamic range compression (WDRC) has been widely used in hearing aid technology. However, several reports indicate that WDRC may improve audibility at the expense of speech intelligibility. As such, a modified amplification compression scheme, named adaptive compression, was developed. However, the effect of compression strategies on speech perception in pediatric hearing aid users has not been clearly reported.The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of adaptive compression and fast-acting WDRC processing strategies on sentence recognition in noise with Mandarin, pediatric hearing aid users.This study was set up using a double-blind, within-subject, repeated-measures design.Twenty-six children who spoke Mandarin Chinese as their primary language and had bilateral sensorineural hearing loss participated in the study.Sentence recognition in noise was evaluated in behind-the-ear technology with both adaptive compression processing and fast-acting WDRC processing and was selected randomly for each child. Percent correct sentence recognition in noise with fast-acting WDRC and adaptive compression was collected from each participant. Correlation analysis was performed to examine the effect of gender, age at assessment, and hearing threshold of the better ear on signal-to-noise ratio, and a paired-samples t test was employed to compare the performance of the adaptive compression strategy and fast-acting WDRC processing.The mean percentage correct of sentence recognition in noise with behind-the-ear technology with fast-acting WDRC and adaptive compression processing were 62.24% and 68.71%, respectively. The paired-samples t test showed that the performance of the adaptive compression strategy was significantly better than the fast-acting WDRC processing (t = 3.190, p = 0.004).Compared with the fast-acting WDRC, adaptive compression provided better sentence recognition in noise for Mandarin pediatric hearing aid users.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki kelayakan dan efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri untuk meningkatkan creative thinking skills dan work creatively with others siswa SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan Borg & Gall. Prosedur penelitian ini meliputi (1) studi pendahuluan, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan draf produk awal, (4) revisi pertama, (5) uji coba lapangan pendahuluan, (6) revisi kedua, (7) uji coba lapangan utama, (8) revisi produk akhir, dan (9) diseminasi. Subjek uji coba produk yaitu siswa kelas VII SMPN. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan metode observasi, angket, dan tes. Lembar angket validasi dan lembar angket keterbacaan LKS digunakan untuk mengukur kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran. Soal pretest-posttest dan lembar penilaian proyek digunakan untuk mengukur creative thinking skills. Lembar angket, lembar observasi, dan lembar penilaian antarteman digunakan untuk mengukur work creatively with others. Kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran dianalisis dengan konversi skor menggunakan skala 4. Efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran dianalisis dengan paired-samples t test, multivariate analysis of covariance (mancova), gain score, dan persen peningkatan. Hasil penelitian ini berupa produk perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri pada tema “Kalor dan Pengaturan Suhu Tubuh” yang layak dan efektif meningkatkan creative thinking skills dan work creatively with others siswa. Kata Kunci: perangkat pembelajaran IPA, inkuiri, creative thinking skills, work creatively with others.   DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTATION AN INQUIRY-BASED NATURAL SCIENCE LEARNING PACKAGE Abstract This study aims to investigate the appropriateness and the effectiveness of inquiry-based natural science learning package to improve junior high school student’s creative thinking skills and work creatively with others. This study employed the development model by Borg & Gall. The research procedure consisted of: (1) preliminary study, (2) planning, (3) developing preliminary form of product, (4) first revision, (5) preliminary field testing, (6) second revision, (7) main field testing, (8) final product revision, and (9) dissemination. The product testing subjects were students of grade VII SMP. The data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and tests. Pretestt-posttest questions and project assessment sheet were used to measure creative thinking skills. Questionnaires, observa-tion sheet, and peer assessment sheet were used to measure work creatively with others. The appro-priateness of learning package was analyzed through four scales converted. The effectiveness of learning package was analyzed through paired-samples t test, multivariate analysis of covariance (mancova), gain score, and percentage of improvement. The result of the study was an inquiry-based natural science learning package for the “Heat and Body Temperature Regulatory” topic which appropriates and could improve student’s creative thinking skills and work creatively with others effectively. ABSTRACT Objective: To test the null hypothesis that there is no difference between the effects of fan-type rapid (FRME) and rapid maxillary expansion (RME) used with an acrylic bonded expansion appliance on dentofacial structures in early occlusal stages. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective clinical trial. The FRME group had an anterior constricted maxillary width with a normal intermolar width, and the RME group had bilateral constricted maxillary width. The FRME group consisted of 20 patients (mean age, 8.96 ± 1.19 years), and the RME group consisted of 22 patients (mean age, 8.69 ± 0.66 years). Lateral and frontal cephalometric radiographs and dental casts were taken before and after expansion and 3 months after completing treatment for each patient. The data were compared using repeated-measures analysis of variance. The paired-samples t-test was used to evaluate treatment and retention effects, and the independent samples t-test was used to consider the differences between the two groups. Results: The maxilla moved downward and forward in both groups. The nasal cavity and maxillary width were expanded more in the RME group, and there were only a few relapses in this group during the retention period. There was significant labial tipping of the upper incisors in the FRME expansion group. The expansion of intercanine width was similar in both groups, but the expansion of intermolar width was significantly greater in the RME group. Conclusion: The null hypothesis was rejected. There was a difference between the effects of FRME and RME used with an acrylic bonded expansion appliance on dentofacial structures in the early occlusal stages.

Pola konsumsi anak menentukan kebiasaan makan saat dewasa, sehingga perlu mendapat perhatian adalah kebiasaan sarapan pagi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menetukan pengaruh penyuluhan gizi terhadap perubahan perilaku kebiasaan sarapaan pagi murid SD Negeri 05 Solok Selatan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Quasi Eksperiment dengan menggunakan rancangan one group pre and post test design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 58 Murid SD Negeri 05 Solok Selatan dengan menggunakan instrument berupa penanyangan film/video tentang sarapan pagi dan kuesioner yang dianalisis secara univariat, bivariat dengan paired-samples t test dan multivariat dengan GLM repeated measures. Berdasarkan survei dan wawancara yang dilakukan di SD Negeri 02 Solok Selatan diketahui bahwa terdapat 4 orang dari 10 responden (40%) siswa memiliki status gizi berdasarkan IMT/U berada pada kategori kurus dan 6 orang dari 10 responden (40%) tidak memiliki kebiasaan sarapan pagi. Hanya 32,8% murid SD Negeri 05 Solok Selatan yang sarapan, sisanya hampir setengah dari jumlah anak-anak yang ada, mengaku bahwa mereka melewatkan waktu sarapannya Hasil penelitian didapat ada perubahan rata-rata nilai pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan murid tentang sarapan pagi sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan dan terdapat perbedaan pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan murid tentang sarapan pagi sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan.

The principal objective of the paper was to determine the safety and effectiveness of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) as applied to Mexican patients with Open Angle Glaucoma (OAG) according to the degree of Intraocular Pressure (IOP) reduction and the patient’s required medication. We used the following materials and methods: patients with OAG who underwent 360° SLT and either were under maximum tolerated topical medical therapy or had unwanted side effects were accepted as objects. The selected patients were subject to IOP measurement with 2 different tonometry methods prior to the SLT procedure and to the follow-up measurements on the third, sixth, and twelfth month after the procedure. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the SLT procedure, statistical analysis making use of the Repeated Measures One-Sample t-test, Paired-Samples t-test + Pearson Correlation Coefficient test, and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, was implemented. The main result of our research is: the desired criteria were met by twenty seven patients, who represent a sample of 50 eyes. Based upon this data, we can conclude that the treatment with SLT applied to Mexican patients with OAG reduces IOP and the need for topical medical therapy, which can lead to better control of the disease and compliance with treatment.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the students' opinions about STEM approach and the effects of mathematics-oriented STEM activities on the STEM awareness and achievement of students in the “Triangles” unit of 9th ​​grade high school mathematics course. Research was made in the second term of the 2018-2019 academic year and  conducted with 33 9th grade students in two different classes in a high school, located in a province in northeastern Turkey, attached to the Ministry of Education. Mixed method was preferred in the study. The qualitative process of the study was carried out with quasi-experimental method with pre-test and post-test control group and the qualitative process was conducted with case study. In the research,  While the experimental group students continued their education with STEM activities, the courses were conducted according to the teaching methods and techniques appropriate to the gains envisaged in the mathematics curriculum in the control group. Triangular Achievement Test (TAT), STEM Awareness Scale (SAS) and semi-structured interview form were used as data collection tools. Paired Samples T-test and Independent Samples T-test were used to analyze the quantitative data of the study. In addition, qualitative data collected through semi-structured interview form were analyzed using content analysis. As a result of the research, it was seen that STEM activities increased students' academic achievement and provided a permanence of the achievement. The content analysis of the interviews with the students was conducted and it was concluded that STEM activities had a positive effect on the students' academic achievement and the permanence of the achievement.  ​Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.   Özet Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise 9. sınıf matematik dersi “Üçgenler” ünitesinde STEM etkinlikleri ile işlenen derslerin öğrencilerin STEM farkındalıklarına, başarılarının kalıcılığına etkisi ve öğrencilerin STEM yaklaşımı ile ilgili görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde Türkiye’nin kuzeydoğusunda yer alan MEB’e bağlı bir lisede eğitim gören 33 öğrenciyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada karma yöntem tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmanın nicel süreci ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı-deneysel yöntem ile nitel süreci ise durum çalışması ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada deney grubu öğrencileri STEM etkinlikleri ile öğrenimini sürdürürken, dersler kontrol grubunda matematik dersi öğretim programında öngörülen kazanımlara uygun öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerine göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada veri toplama araçları olarak Üçgen Başarı Testi (ÜBT), STEM (FeTeMM) Farkındalık Ölçeği (FFÖ)  ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel verilerini analiz etmek için bağımlı (PairedSamples t-test) ve bağımsız (IndependentSamples t-test) gruplar t testi kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca araştırmada yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanan nitel veriler içerik analizi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; STEM etkinliklerinin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını artırdığı ve başarılarında kalıcılık sağladığı görülmüştür. Öğrencilerle yapılan görüşmelerde STEM etkinliklerinin, öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına, başarılarının kalıcılığına olumlu etkisi bulunduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan model assessment as learning (model-AaL) untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa pada pembelajaran akuntansi di SMK. Pengembangan model asesmen ini mengadaptasi model pengembangan Hopkin & Clark, yang terdiri atas dua tahap, yaitu: (1) tahap penelitian, dan (2) tahap pengembangan. Tahap penelitian meliputi: penelitian pendahuluan, studi hasil penelitian, analisis komponen model, penyusunan prototipe model. Tahap pengembangan meliputi: validasi model oleh pakar dan praktisi, melatih guru menggunakan model, uji coba model terbatas dan diperluas disertai evaluasi. Subjek penelitian adalah guru akuntansi dan siswa kelas X kompetensi keahlian akuntansi SMK. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, kuesioner, pengamatan, dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik analisis deskriptif dan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis perkembangan (repeated measures analysis) dan paired samples t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa: (1) ada enam komponen yang harus ada pada Model-AaL untuk meningkatkan kompetensi akuntansi siswa pada pembelajaran akuntansi di SMK, yaitu: tujuan, tugas terstruktur, asesmen diri, asesmen teman sejawat, pengamatan aktivitas siswa, dan umpan balik; dan (2) model-AaL efektif dapat meningkatkan kompetensi akuntansi siswa pada pembelajaran akuntansi di SMK, dengan nilai p (Sig) < α (0,05). Kata kunci: model-AaL, kompetensi siswa, dan pembelajaran akuntansi  DEVELOPING A MODEL OF “ASSESSMENT AS LEARNING OF ACCOUNTING LEARNING” AT VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS Abstract The objective of this study is to develop model of assessment as learning (model-AaL) to improve the students’ competencies in the Accounting learning at Vocational High Schools. It adapted the model claimed by Hopkin & Clark, consisting of two phases, namely: (1) research and (2) development. The former included preliminary research, study of the research results, analysis of the model components, and the arrangement of model prototype. The latter, comprised model validation by experts and practitioners, teacher training for using the model, limited and extended model experimentations accompanied with evaluation. The subjects of the research were the Accounting teachers and the students in Grade X of the Accounting Expertise Program of Vocational High Schools. The data of the research were gathered through in-depth interview, questionnaire, observation, and test. They were then analyzed by using the qualitative approach with the descriptive analysis technique and the quantitative approach with the analysis techniques of repeated measures analysis and paired samples t-test. The results of the research show that: (1) the model-AaL consists of six components, namely: objective, structured task, self-assessment, peer assessment, observation on student’s activities, and feedback; and (2) the model-AaL can effectively improve the students’ competencies in Accounting learning at Vocational High Schools, with a value of p (Sig) < α (0.05). [Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah siswa sesudah penerapan model Project based learning dibandingkan dengan sebelum penerapan model tersebut serta korelasi antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one-group pretest-postest group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Darul Ulum Banda Aceh sedangkan sampel penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII2 sebanyak 30 siswa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan uji t yaitu Paired Samples T-Test untuk pengujian perbedaan skor yang diperoleh siswa sebelum pembelajaran (pretes) dan setelah pembelajaran (postes). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah siswa setelah penerapan model Project based learning lebih baik dari sebelum penerapan. Selain itu, terdapat hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah siswa yang belajar melalui penerapan model Project based learning. Hubungan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah berada pada kategori cukup. Kata kunci: Berpikir Kreatif; Pemecahan Masalah; Project based learning [English]: This research aims to understand the students’ creative thinking and problem solving ability after implementing project based learning compared to before implementation and correlation between creative thinking and problem solving ability. It is an experiment research with one-group pretest-postest group design. The population is all students in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Darul Ulum Banda Aceh, 30 students are selected as samples. The instruments used are creative thinking and problem solving test. Data analysis used t-test, i.e. paired samples T-test to examine score difference before the implementation of project based learning (pretest) and after it (posttest). The result shows that creative thinking and problem solving ability after implementation is better than before it. The aim of the research was to explore the effects of enriched workshop training given to pre-school students on students’ creative thinking skills. The research was conducted during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 academic year. The mixed research design was used in the study. On the quantitative stage of the research, a single-group pre-test-posttest experimental design was applied. In order to identify the effects of the enriched training provided at different workshops, students were administered Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (Figural Form) as a pre-test-post-test. The study group of the research was comprised of 129 students in total including 81 students in the first group and 48 students in the second group, all taking training at the “Curious Junior Education Center” supported by Istanbul Development Agency and implemented by Pendik District National Education Directorate. According to the findings obtained from the quantitative method, a variation was identified in the test averages for student creative thinking skills (fluency, originality, elaboration, abstractness of titles, resistance to premature closure) before and after the training. Post-test averages for students’ creative skills increased. Paired samples t test was performed to determine whether or not the variation- increase- was significant. According to the t test result, enriched workshop training affects students’ total creative thinking skills significantly. In other words, enriched workshop training has developed students’ creative thinking skills positively. In the qualitative method, parents, students and teachers reported their views about the quality and effectiveness of the enriched workshop training.
