The objective of the study was to identify employers’ needs of the future labour market in 5–7 years in Vidzeme Region. The data were obtained from a quantitative survey of employers and expert interviews according to Delphi method. Experts believe that some brand new profession may appear, but mostly changes will affect the contents of the professions and the required skills. As regards the topicality of occupations within the next five years, the experts all agree on priority of information and communication services and related professions. The second most frequently mentioned is the processing industry, since a change in the working specifics will require employees, able to use complicated equipment.

Constant and unpredictable changes on the labour market are causing a direct impact on the actionsand measures taken by employees and organisations, since these have to adapt to new emerging models in orderto ensure the continuity of their activity. This study aimed to obtain experts' opinion and consensus on thirteenresearch theses relating to the labour market, economic growth and education system in Poland. The researchaddressed, among other things, the issues of work ethos, adjustment of professional qualifications to the rapidlychanging needs of the labour market, employing foreigners, return from abroad of highly qualified specialists,the situation of disabled people on the labour market and flexible forms of employment. The study presented inthe article was based on the Delphi method. The method is a kind of expert study in which intuitive expertopinions are treated as a legitimate contribution to the formulation of a vision of the future of the researchsubject. The results obtained in the research may be interesting for political decision-makers, publicadministration employees, employees of district and provincial labour offices as well as all those interested inthe Delphi method and the future of the labour market.

We are witnessing the emergence of an information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled platform capitalism in which traditional corporations are being displaced. Railing against traditional firms to rescue capitalism would, under these circumstances, seem like misdirected effort. The “working anarchies” (e.g. Uber, Wikipedia) and “pop-up firms” (e.g. Vizio) of this new world use “labor on demand.” Here too there is risk that platform owners exploit their power and become rapacious. Yet, ICT can enable platform capitalism to create community-based, locally controlled alternatives to corporations and states. Cooperatives and democratic software platforms (e.g. Linux) must be important business forms in the future.

This article provides a review of the Australian labour market in 2020. It outlines the monetary and fiscal responses to COVID-19 (including JobKeeper, JobSeeker and JobMaker policies), describes trends in employment, unemployment and underemployment and summarises the Fair Work Commission’s 2020 minimum wage decision. Data show that in the year to September 2020, total monthly hours worked fell by 5.9% for males and 3.8% for females. Job loss was proportionately larger amongst young people (aged 20–29) and older people. It was also disproportionately higher in female-dominated sectors such as Accommodation and Food Services. Unlike the earlier recession (1991), when more than 90% of jobs lost were previously held by males, a significant share (around 40%) of the job loss in the 2020 recession (year to August 2020) were jobs previously held by females. Notwithstanding a pick-up in employment towards year’s end, the future remains uncertain.

This article investigates the earnings of Chinese golf trainers. Through a combination of ethnographic observations, interviews and a quantitative survey analysis, it depicts the social structure of the economy of golf training in China, showing that golf trainers’ playing abilities and fame, rather than any certificate of competence (e.g. diploma or professional certification), determine their earnings. At the same time, we underline many common characteristics between the artists’ labour market and the golf trainers’ labour market, such as the importance of fame and a winner-takes-all logic.

ABSTRACTThe paper develops some of the conclusions, reached in Floridi (2007), concerning the future developments of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and their impact on our lives. The two main theses supported in that article were that, as the information society develops, the threshold between online and offline is becoming increasingly blurred, and that once there won't be any significant difference, we shall gradually re-conceptualise ourselves not as cyborgs but rather as inforgs, i.e. socially connected, informational organisms. In this paper, I look at the development of the so-called Semantic Web and Web 2.0 from this perspective and try to forecast their future. Regarding the Semantic Web, I argue that it is a clear and well-defined project, which, despite some authoritative views to the contrary, is not a promising reality and will probably fail in the same way AI has failed in the past. Regarding Web 2.0, I argue that, although it is a rather ill-defined project, which lacks a clear explanation of its nature and scope, it does have the potentiality of becoming a success (and indeed it is already, as part of the new phenomenon of Cloud Computing) because it leverages the only semantic engines available so far in nature, us. I conclude by suggesting what other changes might be expected in the future of our digital environment.

Sustainability requires ongoing reform of resource production and consumption to reduce environmental harms. The main way that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can address these resource impacts is through digital optimization. Spreng found that optimization of an industrial process either increases energy use or accelerates production or consumption. It was assumed that reducing energy use progresses sustainability, whilst accelerating production or consumption to meet market demand is consumerist and generally detrimental to sustainability. In this paper, we argue that there are two important cases in which accelerating economic processes actually has an essential role in enabling sustainability by ICT: (1) when the process drives the production and adoption of an environmentally beneficial product such as a solar panel, often referred to as “cleantech”, or (2) when the process being increased is specific to the Circular Economy, such as recycling, maintenance/refurbishment, and sharing/reuse e.g., car-sharing, ride-sharing and tool-sharing in the Sharing Economy. The opportunities for ICT4S optimization are thus threefold: not just saving resources with efficiency, but also pushing the adoption of cleantech, and pushing the circulation of resources.

Among more dramatic effects, the COVID-19 scenario also raised the need for new online information and communication services, promoting the spread of software solutions whose usefulness will last well beyond the pandemic situation. Particularly in the cultural heritage domain, it has been unveiled the relevance of new AI-based approaches, able to dynamically aggregate information and making them available for a customized fruition aimed to the individual cultural growth. Here, we integrate machine learning techniques for the automatic generation of contents for an intelligent tutoring system grounded on automated planning techniques. We present a solution for semantic, intelligent creation of personalized cultural contents, born as a lesson-making assistant, but developed as to become a multi-function “cultural crossover”, useful in the frame of a wide range of planning, dissemination, and managing activities for cultural heritage contents.

There fore, this study aims to determine the entrepreneurial orientation offarmersso it canmeet the demand ofbroccolito themodernmarket. Broccoli’s Farmer has a high entrepreneurial spirit, as seen from the orientation of farmers in view the future. Farmers see the modern market as an alternative market with a huge potential market in the future, so that the farmers do a variety of creative effort to make their business performance more efficiently so it can serve the  modern market better. The method usedinthisstudyis thecase studies method, theanalysis techniqueused isdescriptive qualitativeanalysis. Research shows that broccoli farmers as an entrepreneur has an unique characteristics and valuesin running their business. Broccoli farmes entrepreneurial orientation in Kecamatan Lembang emphasizes the creation of business innovation, always doing to do the improvement process of their supply chain product, namely with implementing strategies for business collaboration with other actors in the broccoli supply chain. They also always proactivein receivinga request from the modern market as an alternative market for their business, so their businesses can be more competitive and be able to runcontinuously.
