The role of crisis communication is becoming increasingly important in disaster management, especially considering the impact that disasters can have on the image and reputation of tourist destinations. Although the literature has begun to focus on this topic in recent years, the greater number of natural disasters and the impact of new media communication tools, make this theme particularly interesting for further scholarly investigation. Developing an effective crisis communication strategy requires consideration of the role that local authorities, including destination management organizations (DMOs) play, the channels they use, and the content that should be included. Numerous authors have analyzed this issue from a chronological perspective in terms of the difference phases of a crisis starting from preparation and ending with recovery. However, a series of strategic requirements emerge alongside these phases for successful crisis management, including: - Cooperation with the media in providing information to the public; in particular, imparting a consistent message to all stakeholders to build credibility and preserve the image of organizations and destinations. - Preparedness and the capacity to plan an effective communication response to a crisis in advance, paying attention to the specific characteristics of each case. - The development of a public relations plan that creates a support network for the dissemination of communication across multiple channels facilitated by the web and Information Communications Technologies (ICTs).

The development of new media transforms human communication experiences in ways that are socially, culturally, and politically meaningful. This study investigates the Chinese government's use of new media in response to an international communication crisis, the Ai Weiwei case, in 2011. Through a discourse analysis of China's official online news website, China Daily, as well as Twitter posts, most salient media frames in China's online media discourse are identified. The results suggest that online contestation of media framing in China's official media discourse contributes to the formation of new cultural expectations and norms in Chinese society and challenges the government's ability to tell its own stories without dispute. The author argues that new media foster online discussion and stimulate public debate of China's accountability and transparency in interacting with domestic and global audiences during crisis communication.

This research is motivated by a phenomenon that occurs in the field of Public Relations (HUMAS) of the Republic of Indonesia Television Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP TVRI) Jambi. A strategy is needed by TVRI Jambi as times change where the interest of television viewers is decreasing due to competition from both private television and new media. The audience follows a style that has value. Therefore it is necessary to have a Public Relations in order to expand public knowledge about what programs exist at TVRI in order to increase the existence of TVRI Jambi. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection methods used in the form of observation, documentation, and interviews with data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study the authors found that the Public Relations Strategy in promoting TVRI Jambi programs to improve the quality of TVRI programs in the eyes of the public to better understand and know broadcasts on TVRI Jambi therefore Public Relations itself uses a communication strategy Public relations strategy, communication, advertising , sales promotion, publicity , corporate design The problems of Public Relations in promoting LPP TVRI programs in Jambi, weak human resources, PR efforts in promoting LPP TVRI Jambi programs in collaborating with other agencies.

The Impact of New Technologies on International Communication: The Case of Public DiplomacyBeata OciepkaThe events in North Africa in the spring of 2011 again attracted the attention of the world public opinion to social media because of their use by opposition for initiatinga social change. The paper raises the question whether social media might play any role in international communication. To answer the question, the case of public diplomacy as a form of political international communication of Central and Eastern European newcomers to the European Union is analyzed. Social media are seen as tools supporting the old networks built thanks to classical tools of diplomacy and contributing to the development of new digital networks. However, the analysis of using of social media by ministries and ministers of foreign affairs as hubs or knots of networks in public diplomacy does not convince as to their any contribution to the development of the relational model of public diplomacy in the region. More optimism might be derived from the online presence of the Belsat television, a channel broadcasting in Belarusian from Poland to Belarus in order to achieve social changes though international broadcasting and social media.Key words: social media, public diplomacy, international communication, new media

Slovenska vojska je na družbenih omrežjih aktivna od januarja 2013. Od takrat je naredila velik korak v komuniciranju znotraj tako imenovanih novih medijev, vendar še ne dosega ravni in načina komuniciranja zavezniških držav. Zato bo morala še veliko napora usmeriti v oblikovanje strategije komuniciranja znotraj družbenih omrežij, da bo izkoristila moč in doseg takšnega načina komuniciranja z javnostjo. Članek z analizo polletnega komuniciranja Slovenske vojske na družbenih omrežjih in s predstavitvijo dveh študij primerov, narejenih na ravni nemške vojske in Nata, potrjuje prej navedeno. Rezultati so pokazali, da je razvita komunikacijska strategija dobra, da s komuniciranjem prek družbenih omrežij Slovenska vojska bogato dopol- njuje svojo strategijo odnosov z javnostmi, da se predstavlja še bolj pregledno in da vedno bolj aktivno sodeluje z zainteresiranimi javnostmi. Najboljše komunikacijske rezultate dosega na Facebooku, medtem ko je v razvoju drugih omrežij, pridobiva- nju zaupanja organizacije in njenih zaposlenih v socialne medije ter v oblikovanju organizacijske kulture komuniciranja na teh ravneh še veliko dela, ki ga je treba opraviti. Pri tem ne smemo pozabiti, da je treba vse aktivnosti Slovenske vojske na družbenih omrežjih vnaprej in načrtno ter skladno z načrtovano celostno podobo or- ganizacije v javnosti razvijati do podrobnosti in hkrati aktivno slediti novim težnjam in aktivnemu dialogu z javnostmi. The Slovenian Armed Forces has become actively involved in social networks in January 2013. Since then, it has taken a major step in the communication within the so-called new media; however, it has still not attained the level and mode of com- munication of other allied countries. Much effort will thus have to be devoted to the development of a communication strategy within social networks in order to make use of the power and reach of such a public communication method. The article supports the above-mentioned facts with the analysis of six-month social network communication activities of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the presentation of two case studies carried out at in the German Armed Forces and NATO. The results have shown that the developed communication strategy was good; that Slovenian Armed Forces’ communication activities through social networks represent a rich comple- ment to its public affairs strategy; that such activities aid to its transparent presen- tation, and that its involvement with the interested public is becoming increasin- gly active. The best communication results have been achieved on Facebook, while there is still much to be done in the development of other networks, in building trust in social media within the organization and its employees, and in creating an orga- nizational culture of communication at these levels. In so doing, one must not forget that all Slovenian Armed Forces’ social networks activities should be thoroughly developed in advance and in a premeditated manner as well as in accordance with the planned corporate public image of the organization. At the same time, it should actively follow new trends and active dialogue with the public.

Public relations is involved in all communication between an organization and the pu-blic. In the contemporary world, PR practitioners have become the facilitators of information. Information and communication technology (ICT) have imposed new rules in the fi eld of public relations. Communication strategy and information management have become crucial parts of modern public relations. People change their habits with regard to the consumption of traditional and new media. The challenges imposed by the development of information and communication technology are also related to understanding the new information so-ciety. For that reason information ethics deals with the ethical implications of dissemination, use, development and safety of information. Public relations follow new information and communication trends, and they need to build fi rm ethical principles for the age of informa-tion. The author examines the ethical implications of the framing concept in public relations.

The article deals with the study of the concept REFUGEE/FLÜCHTLING in the discourse of the new media of Germany in 2015 – the year which was characterized by the highest level of asylum seekers in the country. Based on the results of the content analysis, the positional narratives and thematic groups of lexical markers representing the official position and the position of the civil society (in the social media content) have been defined. The discourse-analysis proved that in the German infosphere there is a “battle of narratives” between the official media which put into action a systemic government policy of friendly treatment of refugees – «Willkommenskultur», and social networks which also manifest an unfavourable attitude towards asylum seekers – from critical to totally negative. It has been established that the concept REFUGEE/FLÜCHTLING has a discourse-forming function in both official and unofficial media in Germany where it has negative connotations, thereby revealing the «battle of narratives» and the «battle of discourses». It has been concluded that there is a single government communication strategy in the issue of refugees and a corresponding system of organization of official new media communications which broadcast the government’s position with a focus on conceptual worldviews of different target audiences of the country. The study was carried out using the Big Data technology, which contributed to obtaining of valid results.
