Penelitian tentang Pendekatan Feminist Communication Theory pada Cybercommunity “Wacana Cerdas Menonton Televisi” di internet berasal dari pengamatan tentang fenomena aktivitas percakapan para perempuan di e-forum Cerdas Nonton Televisi di internet yang memuat kondisi pertelevisian Indonesia di mana di tuang ini ditemukan masalah bahwa internet dengan facebook nya telah membangun suatu hubungan dan wacana para anggotanya secara terbuka, lugas, dan kritis, tanpa melihat status, gender, ekonomi, sosial, agama, dan gaya hidup tentang krisis televisi tanah air yang masih memiliki banyak masalah, baik pada penyiar, produser maupun berita atau program-programnya. Teori yang digunakan adalah paradigma kritis dengan salah satu variannya yaitu feminist communication theory yang bertujuan untuk melihat representasi perempuan di ruang publik yang menyuarakan atau mengkomunikasikan semua aspirasi, rasa keadilan, dan keberadaan mereka. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis cybercommunity perempuan di e-forum ”Cerdas Nonton Televisi” yang menyuarakan atau mewacanakan permasalahan pertelevisian Indonesia. Secara metodologis, penelitian ini menggunakan metode netnografi untuk melihat aktivitas budaya komunitas maya perempuan dalam bentuk percakapan di internet. Hasil pengamatan ini memberikan deskripsi bahwa para perempuan dalam e-forum Cerdas Nonton Televisi (CNT) ini telah berupaya mengoptimalisasikan ruang CNT untuk berkomunikasi atau bersuara kritis bagi terciptanya reformasi pertelevisian untuk lebih prokhalayak dan mencerdaskan bangsa. Namun, suara kritis perempuan masih lebih sedikit dibanding suara laki-laki dalam berwacana dalam ruang CNT ini. Selain, itu suara perempuan yang muncul lebih banyak pada hanya mengikuti status laki-laki, dibanding membuat status sendiri. Pada sisi substansi kritisisme perempuan pun cenderung menyiratkan keprihatinan secara emosioanal dibanding pada pengupayaan ke arah tranformasi secara nyata. Research on Feminist Theory Communication Approach on Cybercommunity “Cerdas Nonton Televisi”(CNT) on the Internet comes from the observation of the phenomenon of conversations activity of women in the e-forum CNT which contains conditions on Indonesian TV in the room where it was found that the problem with the internet (facebook) it has built up a relationship and discourse of its members openly, straightforwardly, and critical, regardless of status, gender, economic, social, religious, and lifestyle on television crisis that the country still has many problems, both on the broadcaster, producer and news or programs. The theory used is critical paradigm with one of its variants, namely feminist communication theory which aims to look at the representation of women in public spaces are voiced or communicate all the aspirations, sense of justice, and their whereabouts. The research objective was to analyze cybercommunity women in e-forum “Smart Watch Television” are voiced or mewacanakan issues on Indonesian TV. Methodologically, this study using netnografi to see the virtual community cultural activity of women in the form of a conversation on the internet. These observations provide a description that the women of the e-forum Smart Watch Television (CNT) has sought to optimize this space to communicate or speak CNT critical for the creation of television for more prokhalayak reform and educate the nation. However, critical voices are still fewer female than a male voice in the discourse in this CNT space. In addition, the voice of women who appear more on just follow the status of men, rather than making their own status. On the substance of the criticism of women also tend to imply concern is emosional than at the insistence towards real transformation.

The last decade has witnessed the remarkable transformation of social networks in which people communicate and associate with one another via the Internet. While the popular perception of the Internet is more of a communication medium, the ramification of the Internet is far beyond that. Its significance lies in its capability of keeping people connected. Since its inception, the connectivity enabled by the Internet allows scientists geographically separated to establish a virtual community (VC) in which they distribute research findings, discuss research issues and share research interests. The deregulation of the Internet in early 1990s kindled the booming of VCs with a variety of interests. Research in VCs has been extensive; nevertheless, no one single definition of VCs has been commonly agreed upon and accepted by researchers (Lee, Vogel & Limayem, 2003; Jones, 1997; Liu, 1999). For example, Hagel and Armstrong (1997) adopted the technological deterministic perspective and defined VC as a computer-mediated space that aggregated member-generated content and correspondences, while Rheingold (1994) placed emphasis on the on-going discourse and social-psychological elements. As the debate of definition continues, instead of proposing another one, several researchers adopted an approach to characterizing VCs as follows (Wang, Yu, & Fesenmaier, 2002): 1. Members share common goals, needs and interests 2. Members engage in repeated interaction and participation 3. Members have access to resources, including information, support and services 4. Members share social conventions, language and protocols. We follow this approach in the article. Research in VC has been conducted in various areas, such as marketing (Maclaran & Catterall, 2002) and tourism (Wang, Yu, & Fesenmaier, 2002) from different perspectives, such as sociocultural (Zucchermaglio & Talamo, 2003) and philosophical (Mowbray, 2001). It is generally agreed that the critical mass of participation is requisite for success of a VC (Hagel & Armstrong, 1997; Roberts & Fox, 1998). We contend that the critical mass of a VC depicts the status quo of the community, and might not be sufficient for its sustainability. Instead, we propose the concept of sustainability of VCs and discuss factors that may affect it.

In the information society the status of information is changing: this main value of global civilization becomes an important resource of socio- economic, technological and cultural development. The rapid development of virtual technologies and the growing number of Internet users in Ukraine and in the world causes the new challenges to communication of each organization. The book publishers are also obliged to respond to these processes. However, the works devoted directly to publishers’ communication in the modern media space are still lacking in Ukraine. The objective of the article is to clarify peculiarities and conditions of the activities of Ukrainian book publishers in today’s media space which is an important issue today. It is analyzed the literature and sources on this issue and it is ascertained the theoretical and practical possibilities to take into account the trends in the world of modern media in the PR-activity of book publishers. Also the prospects for further scientific study and practical use of PR-communications in the activity of publishers are determined. The analysis of current changes in the modern information space allows us to trace the general tendencies: the new subject and object areas are formed; the number of subjects is expanded; the new formats of interaction within the system of communications of the organization and in society as a whole are created. That means that publishing house’s PR-communications are complicated by the emergence of new elements, such as active audience, social networks as communication channels, promotions on the Internet and others. PR communication in the Internet space is the most effective and inexpensive tool for interaction of publishers with active audiences. Thus, the activation of PR communication in the modern media space is associated with the emergence of the latest information technologies, online media as well as development of Internet. The use of online channels of Internet for communication with the target audience of publishing organizations has certain advantages over traditional media. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the information saturation of media space, which complicates the way of PR-messages of book publishers to the reader.

This chapter asks an important, yet seemingly illusive, question: In what ways does the internet provide (or not) activist—or, for present purposes “artivist”—opportunities and engagements for musicing, music sharing, and music teaching and learning? According to Asante (2008), an “artivist (artist + activist) uses her artistic talents to fight and struggle against injustice and oppression—by any medium necessary. The artivist merges commitment to freedom and justice with the pen, the lens, the brush, the voice, the body, and the imagination. The artivist knows that to make an observation is to have an obligation” (p. 6). Given this view, can (and should) social media be a means to achieve artivism through online musicing and music sharing, and, therefore, music teaching and learning? Taking a feminist perspective, this chapter interrogates the nature of cyber musical artivism as a potential means to a necessary end: positive transformation. In what ways can social media be a conduit (or hindrance) for cyber musical artivism? What might musicing and music sharing gain (or lose) from engaging with online artivist practices? In addition to a philosophical investigation, this chapter will examine select case studies of online artivist music making and music sharing communities with the above concerns in mind, specifically as they relate to music education.

Orientation: The gender pay gap is a worldwide challenge that has persisted despite political will and interventions. Comparably qualified women performing similar work as men continue to earn less. There are conflicting views in the literature regarding the status of the gender pay gap.Research purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine status of the gender pay gap among employees in the same salary band and to establish whether men and women receive similar pay for similar work in the study population.Motivation for study: The status of the gender pay gap would establish the progress made towards closing the gap and guide necessary adjustments to interventions.Research approach/design and method: A quantitative analysis was conducted on the pay information of 217 902 employees collected in a survey from over 700 companies, across 10 job families and 6 industries.Main findings: Men’s pay was consistently higher than that of women in all salary bands except at the 75th and 95th percentile in sub-bands B-lower and B-upper and 25th percentile in sub-band E-upper. The gender pay gap ranged from 8% in band A to 27.1% in sub-band F-upper. The gaps observed in the salary bands were statistically significant (p < 0.0001) except in sub-band E-upper, F-lower and F-upper, indicating convergence towards similar pay for similar work at senior to top management levels. Women were under-represented in all salary bands with the lowest presence in band F, especially sub-band F-upper. Gender, race, job family and industry have a significant effect on income earned in the study sample.Practical/managerial implications: Government’s efforts seemed to have produced minimal results as women are represented in all job families, industries and salary bands. The pay of men and women in senior and top management levels was similar. However, more still needs to be done to achieve the 50% target representation of women in senior management and close the gap at all levels.Contribution/value-add: The number of women at management levels is still very low when compared to their male counterparts. However, the gender pay gap in senior to top management positions are converging towards similar pay for work of similar value.

In a tweet posted on 29 March 2018, a bidūn activist—who was later jailed from July 2019 to January 2020 for peacefully protesting against the inhumane conditions under which the bidūn are living—shared a video. The brief video zooms in closely on an ID card, recognizable as one of those issued to the bidūn, or long-term residents of Kuwait who are in contention with the state regarding their legal status. More precisely, the mobile phone camera focuses on the back of the ID card, on one line with a special mention added by the Central System (al-jihāz al-markazī), the administration in charge of bidūn affairs. Other magnetic strip cards hide the personal data written above and below it. A male voice can be heard saying that he will read this additional remark, but before even doing so he bursts into laughter. The faceless voice goes on to read out the label in an unrestrained laugh: “ladayh qarīb … ladayh qarīna … dālla ʿalā al-jinsiyya al-ʿIrāqiyya” (he has a relative … who has presumptive evidence … suggesting an Iraqi nationality). The video shakes as the result of a contagious laugh that grows in intensity. In the Kuwaiti dialect, the voice continues commenting: “Uqsim bil-Allāh, gaʿadt sāʿa ufakkir shinū maʿanāt hal-ḥatchī” (I swear by God, it took me an hour to figure out the meaning of this nonsense), before reading the sentence again, stopping and guffawing, and asking if he should “repeat it a third time,” expressing amazement at its absurdity. The tweet, addressed to the head of the Central System (mentioned in the hashtag #faḍīḥat Sāliḥ al-Faḍāla, or #scandal Salih al-Fadala), reads: In lam tastaḥī fa-'ktub mā shaʾt (Don't bother, write what you want).

ABSTRACT Purpose: The general objective is to critically analyze the ideologies and constructions of management ideology in the Internet blog called Geração de Valor (Generation of Value), behind the discourse of success. Originality/value: The pop-management phenomenon has been widespread in the Brazilian context. It leads individuals to look for formulas of excel and achieve success as entrepreneurs. One of the disseminators of this ideology has been Geração de Valor. This article innovates when dealing with thematic without prima donna behaviors or fanciful romanticism. Design/methodology/approach: This article aims to analyze texts available on Geração de Valor through critical discourse analysis (CDA). Findings: We conclude that the voice of the businessman and blogger Flávio Augusto da Silva is nothing more than one of several voices, including in administration, that seek to defend the cult of personal victory and disdain for the collectivist practices of social organization. This kind of analysis is still scarce in this field of study, as they require enriched readings of the text in terms of context and intertextuality. Critical analyses contradict hegemonic visions and sharpen the reader's critical sense. Also, they are useful in highlighting the cult following that Administration has been receiving by the media.

AbstractThis study will examine how the virtual community communication is carried out by gay teenagers on Grindr social media. Why is the youth gay community using the Grindr app as a communication tool? What social effects arise from the Grindr application's virtual community communication? This article used Lori Kendall's theory of community and the Internet, that discuss the emergence of social relationships that are mediated by communication via the internet. The findings of this study explain that the characteristics of virtual community communication rise a community that is speech, discourse and practice in nature. These three forms of gay virtual community communication among adolescents cannot be separated because each form has characteristics and is a stage in forming a community.  AbstrakPenelitian ini akan mencermati bagaimana komunikasi komunitas virtual dilakukan kaum gay remaja di media sosial Grindr. Mengapa komunitas gay remaja menggunakan aplikasi Grindr sebagai alat komunikasi? Efek sosial seperti apa yang muncul dari komunikasi komunitas virtual aplikasi Grindr? Artikel ini menggunakan teori community dan internet dari Lori Kendall, yang membahas mengenai munculnya hubungan sosial yang dimediasi oleh komunikasi melalui internet. Temuan kajian ini menjelaskan bahwa karakteristik komunikasi komunitas virtual tersebut memunculkan suatu komunitas yang sifatnya speech, discourse dan practice. Ketiga bentuk komunikasi komunitas virtual Gay di kalangan remaja ini tidak dapat dipisahkan satu sama lain karena masing-masing mempunyai karakteristik dan merupakan tahapan dalam membentuk komunitas.
