The effects of an explicit three dimensional (3D) urban canopy representation on the development of convective thunderstorms were analyzed with the tropical town energy budget (tTEB) scheme integrated into the advanced regional prediction system (ARPS). The study provides a detailed description of the procedure to couple the system ARPS-tTEB and analyzed the simulation results of the 12 January 2015 sea-breeze event that developed a severe thunderstorm above the metropolitan area of São Paulo (MASP), Brazil. The simulation used realistic boundary and initial conditions from the Global Forecast System (GFS) and sea surface temperature (SST) from the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission (TRMM). The system ARPS-tTEB runs of up to 3 km horizontal resolution were carried out with high resolution topography features and land-use types currently available for Southeastern Brazil. The simulated spatial distribution of precipitation was verified against the Climate Prediction Center Morphing Technique (CMORPH), the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) and the São Paulo weather radar (SPWR) precipitation estimates by indexes scores. Time series of grid precipitation estimates (ARPS-tTEB and SPWR) and point measurements (rain gauges) were evaluated with a Bayesian statistical method. Results indicate that the urban area of the MASP modulates the precipitation spatial distribution over it. Furthermore, phase and amplitude precipitation accuracy increased with the 3D urban canyon and the urban energy budget scheme in relationship to control runs without urban environment effects.

The objective of this study was to determined species composition and community structure of Carabidae and Staphylinidae in five areas of forest fragment and soybean/corn crops or orange orchard, from December 2004 to May 2007. Beetles were captured in pitfall traps distributed along two parallel transects of 200 m in length, placed across crop land/forest boundary fragment, with 100 m each. The Shannon-Wiener diversity and evenness indexes and Morisita similarity index were calculated. The carabids Abaris basistriatus Chaudoir, Calosoma granulatum Perty, Megacephala brasiliensis Kirby, Odontochila nodicornis (Dejean) and Selenophorus seriatoporus Putzeys. are dominant and are widely distributed in northeastern São Paulo state, Brazil. Point-scale species diversity was greatest at the transition between forest fragment and cultivated area. The carabid and staphylinid communities of the forest fragment were more similar to the community of orange orchard than that of soybean/corn crops.

Em um estágio preliminar os valores dos percentis 75 da precipitação decendial foram georeferenciados, permitindo a utilização de técnicas da geoestatística para proceder à interpolação dos dados. Modelos experimentais de semivariogramas padronizados foram obtidos, utilizando-se a variância amostral como fator de escalonamento, permitindo a verificação de proporcionalidade entre os modelos e agrupando-os sob a mesma tendência. O modelo teórico exponencial foi o que melhor se ajustou aos semivariogramas experimentais, seguido pelo modelo esférico. Os parâmetros estimados para os modelos, efeito pepita, patamar e alcance foram utilizados para a realização da krigagem e confecção dos mapas de isolinhas. A distribuição espacial dos percentis 75 da precipitação decendial reflete o comportamento da circulação atmosférica no Estado, apresentando alta variabilidade. As regiões oeste , sudoeste e noroeste  apresentaram as menores intensidades de precipitação e foram variáveis de acordo com os níveis temporais na primavera. A região litorânea apresentou as maiores intensidades de precipitação para quase todos os níveis temporais estudados, diferenciando-se das demais regiões do Estado. A exceção foi à região nordeste no final da primavera que apresentou valores de intensidades maiores do que os registrados no litoral. A faixa litorânea apresentou comportamento homogêneo, detectado pelo forte agrupamento das isolinhas em quase todos os decêndios analisados.  UNITERMOS: precipitação decendial, semivariograma, geoestatística, krigage.   GOMES, B.M., CRUZ, R.L. SPACIAL BEHAVIOR OF TEN-DAY PRECIPITATION 75 percentil FOR SÃO PAULO STATE IN THE SPRING2 Abstract  In the present study it was evaluated the ten-day precipitation 75 percentil spatial distribution for São Paulo state, using a total of 136 pluviometric stations with series over 27 year- records. In a preliminary phase, the ten-day precipitation 75 percentil  values were georeferred in the space, allowing geostatistics technique use for data interpolation proceeding. Experimental models of standardized  semivariograms were obtained  using  sample variance as a staggering factor, allowing the proportionality verification among the models and grouping them under the same tendency. The exponential theorical pattern was better fitted to the experimental semivariograms, followed by the spherical pattern. The parameters measured for the models, nugget, sill and range effect were used to carry out the kriging and isogram maps preparation. The ten-day precipitation 75 percentil  spatial distribution reflects the atmospheric circulation behavior in the state, presenting high variability. The  western, southwestern and northwestern regions presented the lowest precipitation intensities and varied according to seasonal levels in the spring. The coastal region presented the highest precipitation intensities for almost all  studied seasonal levels, differing from other state regions. The exception was the northeastern region at the end of the spring, which presented higher intensity values than those recorded in the littoral.  Key words: ten day precipitation, semivariogram, geostatistics, kriging.

A precipitação pluvial (mm) e a temperatura do ar (ºC) são os principais parâmetros do clima utilizados nos sistemas de classificação do clima. A má distribuição e o reduzido número de pontos de medida dos atributos do clima acarretam dificuldades para se determinar a temperatura do ar. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar o zoneamento climático, com as variáveis precipitação pluvial e temperatura do ar, no Estado de São Paulo, com o auxílio de ferramentas de geoestatistica e geotecnologias. O estudo foi desenvolvido utilizando dados de precipitação pluvial média anual e temperatura do ar média mensal de 416 estações climáticas do estado São Paulo, referente ao período de 30 anos de dados, 1977 a 2006. Sendo estimada a variável temperatura do ar em função da altitude e a latitude do estado, por meio de modelo de regressão linear múltipla. Foram realizadas analises estatística e geoestatísticas, seguido da interpolação por krigagem para confecção dos mapas temáticos. A maior diferença nos valores de temperatura do ar medida e estimada foram localizados na faixa litorânea, enquanto as diferenças minimas estão situadas nas regiões serranas de maior altitude. O semivariograma escalonado para todos os parâmetros climáticos descreve que a altitude e a temperatura do ar estimada apresentam distribuição espacial dos pares de semivariância similar devido a sua forte correlação. A integração de ferramentas de geoprocessamento com modelos e ajustes da geoestatística permite uma abordagem sistematizada, possibilitando a espacialização dos dados meteorológicos.Palavras - chave: Gerenciamento, planejamento climático, variabilidade espacial Zoning of Climatic Parameters in the State of São Paulo (Brazil) Using Geostatistics Techniques ABSTRACTThe rainfall (mm) and air temperature (ºC) are the main parameters used climate classification systems in the climate. Poor distribution and small number of points of the weather attributes, cause difficulties in determining the air temperature. The objective of this study was to analyze climatic zoning, with the variables rainfall and air temperature in the State of São Paulo, with the aid of geostatistical tools and geotechnology. The study was conducted using data from annual precipitation and air temperature monthly average of 416 weather stations in Sao Paulo State (Brazil), for the period from 30 years of data from 1977 to 2006. The variable being estimated air temperature with altitude and latitude of the State, by means of multiple linear regression models. Were carried out statistical and geostatistical analysis followed by kriging for the construction of thematic maps. The biggest difference in the values of air temperature measured and estimated were located in the coastal strip, while the minimal differences are located in highland areas of higher altitude. The scaled semivariogram for all climatic parameters describing the altitude and air temperature have estimated the spatial distribution of pairs of similar semivariance due to its strong correlation. The integration of geoprocessing tools and settings with models of geostatistics allows a systematic approach, allowing the spatial distribution of meteorological data.Keywords: Management, planning climate, spatial variability
