This study aims to examine the impact of financial ratios on the stock prices of companies listed on NIFTY Bank. Nifty Bank is a sub-index of NIFTY 50 and has various listed banks included based on the criteria given by NSE. This study data has been taken from the period 2010-2019 and taken from the company annual reports. The analysis is done using panel data regression and other tests to verify the best model for the dataset. The results obtained from this study show that the capital adequacy ratio and the dividend payout ratio do not impact the stock price. In contrast, earnings per share, net NPA ratio, and basic earnings per share, net profit margin, and net interest margin exhibited a relationship with the stock price. In the Indian context, there is less research available on this topic, and the idea chosen for the study is original. Along with this, the data collected for the study and the code used for analysis is original work. New investors can use the results of this study in the Indian stock market to analyze a stock and take proper investment decisions. Another practical usage of this study is that banking sector companies can improve their ratios to attract new investors.

This article examines the increasing corporate debt vulnerability and its impact on the asset quality of the Indian public sector banks (PSBs) in the post-global financial crisis (post-GFC) of 2008. The study shows that the stress in both corporate and bank balance sheets has increased in the post-GFC. As a result, there has been a steep increase the proportion of firms with negative profitability. The article finds that the declining profitability has severely affected the debt serviceability of the firms. Consequently, the debt at risk has risen significantly, which in turn has contributed to increase in non-performing assets (NPAs) of the banking sector, particularly, the PSBs. Using the panel regression technique, the study finds that the corporate debt vulnerability is an important determinant of the growth of NPAs along with other factors such as debt concentration, corporate sales growth, lending to sensitive sectors, bank profitability, bank size and the efficiency of banks.

This study attempts primarily to measure the financial performance of banking industry of Bangladesh for the periods 2013–2014 and to rate them according to the composite rating system. For this purpose, 10 private commercial banks (PCBs) have been selected from 38 PCBs. CAMEL has critically analyzed the financial performance of these banks. This finds that most of the banks get 2.14 with an average rating of composite range, where only Eastern Bank Ltd. gets “Strong” rating, seven PCBs get “Satisfactory” rating, AB Bank Ltd. and City Bank Ltd. lay middle of the range of composite score. From this ground, it is clearly reflected that most of the PCBs in Bangladesh have performed quite satisfactorily in recent years. The performance of most banks is dependent more on the managerial ability in formulating strategic plans and the efficient implementation of its strategies. Maintenance of asset quality is the major challenge in this year and is feared to remain so in 2014. The banking sector in Bangladesh has passed somewhat an average year regarding governance, profitability and soundness in 2013. Finally, it is recommended that the banks should be more careful to ensure the quality of assets and its uses, and increased their efficiency in managerial grids.

SUMMARY: In our paper “Client Stock Market Reaction to PCAOB Sanctions against a Big 4 Auditor” (Dee et al. 2011), we examine stock price effects for clients of a Big 4 audit firm when news of sanctions imposed by the PCAOB against the audit firm was made public. These PCAOB penalties were the first against a Big 4 auditor, and they revealed information about quality-control problems at the audit firm that were not publicly known until the sanctions were announced. Our analysis of stock prices suggests that investors in clients of the penalized Big 4 firm reevaluated their perceptions of the quality of the firm's audit work after learning of the sanctions. The negative stock price effects for the firm's clients were consistent with investors inferring that the financial statements were of lower quality. In the paper, we conclude that investors find information about PCAOB sanctions against audit firms to be relevant in assessing audit quality and use that information in setting stock prices for audit firms' clients. This finding has relevance for the debate on the proposed legislation in Congress (H.R. 3503), which would allow the PCAOB to disclose proceedings against auditors before the investigations are concluded. Our results suggest that, although investors may find early disclosure of this information useful, public disclosure of Board disciplinary proceedings before they are completed could unfairly harm an audit firm's reputation if the firm is ultimately vindicated of wrongdoing.

The purpose of this study was to examine stock price abnormal returns following title sponsorship announcement and event date of NASCAR, the PGA Tour, and the LPGA Tour. For this purpose, the authors used event study analysis where the analysis measures the impact that a specific event has on stock prices by comparing actual stock returns to estimated returns (Spais & Filis, 2008). An event study analysis demonstrated that title sponsors for the LPGA Tour and NASCAR garnered significant stock price increases on both the announcement date and the event date. The moderator tests suggested that high image congruence and high-technology related sponsorships assumed a key role in stock price increases.
