This study was intended to figure out the effectiveness of Numbered Heads Together in improving speaking skill of the seventh grade students of SMP PGRI 4 Denpasar. This study was conducted in class VII B which consisted of 16 students: 12 males and 4 females. This study was conducted by the fact that the subjects still faced problem in speaking skill especially in vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. Based on the result of the pre-test which was carried out in the pre-cycle, among 16 subjects who did the pre-test, there was none of the subjects passed the minimum score. The present study was then carried out by implementing Numbered Heads Together in successive two cycles where each cycle consisted of two sessions. The results of post-tests score for cycle I was 2.67 while in cycle II was 3.18. The results of post-test in each cycle showed that there was a significant progressing achievement of the subjects’ speaking skill. In addition, the data analysis of questionnaire score showed the comparative percentages figures of 55.78% for option A, 42.40% for option B, 1.80% for option C and 0% of option D. The result of the questionnaire above clearly showed that the students’ learning behavior and motivation have been improved significantly when Numbered Heads Together was implemented in teaching speaking. In conclusion, the present classroom action study proved that Numbered Heads Together was effective to improve the seventh grade students’ of SMP PGRI 4 Denpasar ability in speaking skill; in addition, the subjects also responded positively to the implementation of Numbered Heads Together.

The objectives of this research were to find out : whether or not the use of Reading Circles increase students speaking skill.This research employed Pre-experimental method that applied monolingual class. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students in academic year 2015-2016. There were 236 students spread in 8 classes ( XI AK.1, XI AK.2, XI AK.3, XI ADM.1 , XI ADM.2, XI ADM.3, XI TN.1 and XI TN.2) and each class consist appropriately 28-30 students. The researcher took cluster random sampling technique and chose XI ADM.1 as the representative and the number of total sample is 28 students.The data of the research were collected by using two kinds of instruments, namely speaking test. Speaking test (interview) was used to obtain data of the students’ speaking skill.The result of data analysis showed that there was significant difference between the students’ score after they were taught by using Reading Circles and before they were taught by Reading Circles. It was proved by the mean score of the post-test which was higher than the mean score of pre-test (78.50>47.25). Furthermore, the result of the p-value was lower than α (0.000<0.05) which means that H1 was accepted. Based on data analysis, the research concluded that : the use of Reading Circles increase students’ speaking skill at SMK Negeri 1 Pancarijang

The using of technology had developed especially in education. Even though it was had a high technology, some of the teachers did not use it. In this case, this research was introduced a new application media in learning process and it is called Octaland 4D. This application is made by Octagon studio with purposing to give a benefit in education by using 4D flashcards. The research used an experimental design one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this research was the first-year kinesthetic students, in academic year 2017. The samples of this research were the first-year kinesthetic students. The technique of sampling used total sampling, the writer took all population the first-year kinesthetic students to be a sample and the data was analyzed into percentage, mean score analyzed and the value of the t-test. The result of the data analysis showed that the students’ achievement on the post-test was higher that on the pre-test. Moreover, based on the analysis the researcher found that the students speaking skill in English was increased significantly. This research gave a suggestion that using 4D flashcard as the media is a good way in learning process in speaking English.

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui kemampuan penulisan teks deskriptif siswa dengan menggunakan metode Think-Talk-Write (TTW), (2) mencari perbedeaan antara siswa yang menggunkan metode Think-Talk-Write (TTW) dan siswa yang tidak menggunakan menggunkan metode Think-Talk-Write. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest dengan melakukan 2 kali pertemuan untuk treatment, 2 x 40 menit untuk setiap pertemuan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Islam Ulil Albab Kebumen yang berjumlah 28 siswa. Sampel penelitian ini menggunakan simple random  ialah semua siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen tes yaitu pretest dan posttest. Setelah dilakukan uji-t  terlihat bahwa selisih rata-rata  menunjukan perbedaan signifikan antara hasil dari pretest dan posttest. Hasil rata-rata pada posttest ialah 70,42 lebih besar dari pada nilai score pretets yaitu 51,82. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi Think-Talk-Write mempengaruhi nilai skor menjadi lebih baik dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskriptif kelas VII SMP Islam Ulil Albab Kebumen. Kata kunci: pengaruh, menulis, teks deskriptif, Think-talk-Write Abstract The aimed of the research are (1) to obtain the information of students’ ability in writing a descriptive text by using Think-Talk-Write (TTW), (2) to find out the information the significant difference in students’ ability in writing descriptive text between the students who are taught by using Think-Talk-Write (TTW) and the students who are not using Think-Talk-Write of seventh grade SMP Islam Ulil Albab Kebumen. The methodology of this research was using one group pretest-posttest design with the treatment in 2 meetings, 2 x 40 minutes for each meeting. The sample was seventh class consisting of 28 students. The sample was taken by using simple random which all member of the population seventh grade. The instruments that used were pre-test and post-test. %.  From the data analysis, the finding showed significant difference between the results it of pre-test and post-test. The mean of the post-test score (70,42) higher than the mean of pre-test score (51,82). It means there is any significance between pre-test and post-test, because the value significance (2-tale) less 0.05, so the null hypothesis was rejected. This research aimed to find out the effect of modified domino cards game on students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of Mts Negeri 3 Mataram in academic year 2019/2020. The research was pre experimental design. The population of the study was the seventh grade students that consisted of five classes. The sample of the study was class VII C that consists of 39 students. The class was treated using modified domino cards game. The result of the study shows that there is significance positive effect of modified domino cards game on students’ vocabulary mastery. The data of the research were gathered from data analysis and inferential analysis. In data analysis, the mean score of pre test was 44.62 and post test was 73; the mode score of pre-test was 45.9 and post test was 78.3; the median score of pre-test was 44.8 and post test was 78.14; the score of standard deviation on both of the test was 11.27. In inferential analysis, the result showed that the value of t-test (18.94) was higher than the value of t-table (2.024) with significance level of 5%. The finding of this study led into the conclusion that the use of modified domino cards game shows positive effect on students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of Mts Negeri 3 Mataram. This is based on the t-test > t-table (18.944 > 2.024) in degree significant of 5%. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that modified domino cards game gives positive effect on students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of MTs Negeri 3 Mataram in academic year 2019/2020

The present classroom action study dealt with Improving the Students English Vocabulary Through Word Search Game of the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 2 Abiansemal in Academic Year 2009/2010. The present classroom action study was basically triggered by the fact that the subjects under study still faced problem in vocabulary mastery. The subjects’ vocabulary problem should be instantaneously solved. Words Search Game were expected to be an effective way in improving and developing the vocabulary mastery of the Sevent Grade Students of SMPN 2 Abiansemal in Academic Year 2009/2010. The present classroom action study made use of pre-test and post-test research design with descriptive and quantitative analysis. It consists of two cycles and in each cycle there are four successive sessions. The present classroom action study was started with administering initial refelction (IR) to the subjects under study which was intended to establish the real preexisting vocabulary mastery of the subjects under study. The comparation of  mean score  of  each session within each cycle shows a significant increase. This grand mean figure  convincingly increased  much higher than the mean figure of the initial reflection or pretest scores. This grand mean figure convincing reveals that there were significant  Improvement of the Students’ English Vocabulary of the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 2 Abiansemal. The questionnaires which were actually intended to measure the changing learning behavior of the subjects under study in learning vocabulary taught through Words Search Game were administered by the end of the cycle I. The results of the comparative percentage figures obtained for the present class study proved that the subjects' learning behavior changed positively, that was, their attitude and motivation heightened significantly.

The major problems of this study are how to develop the students’ speaking skill dealing with accuracy, fluency and comprehensibility, and how to motivate the students to speak English so this research is conducted to find out weather of guessing game technique effective to improve the speaking skill of the seventh grade students of SMPN 3 Balusu. In this research the researcher apply quasi experimental method that apply a pre-test and post-test design. It involves two groups; the experimental group guessing game technique, as the control group Q&A technique, lecturing way. Both of group are given pretest and posttest. The population is the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Balusu. It consists of three classes. The researcher uses cluster sampling in both class in this research. They consist 20 (twenty) students for experiment and 21 (twenty one) control group. The result of the data analysis showed that the students’ spreaking ability improved, it shows that the speaking ability of the seventh grade students of SMPN 3 Balusu improve through guessing game technique. Moreover, the response to questionnaire also shows that most of the students’ interest to the teaching guessing game uses in the classroom. In short, using guessing game in speaking is effective to improve the speaking ability of the seventh grade students of SMPN 3 Balusu.

The aimed of this research is to test the effectiveness of using Pecha Kucha Technique in students’ speaking performance at fourth semester of English Department in Muhammadiyah University of Metro. Pecha Kucha is a presentation form of 20 pictures for 20 seconds and it is also called 20x20 presentations.The entire presentation always lasts for exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The research method used in this research is an experimental research. The subjects of this research are the students at fourth semester of English Department in Muhammadiyah University of Metro academic year 2020. There are 21 students of control group and 21 students of experimental group. The research instrument used to collect the data in this research is an oral test. From the two classes, the experimental and control group, the measurement shows that increasing line of the speaking ability of the experimental group is higher than the control group. The result of pre-test score shows that the average score of the experimental group and the control group are 52.38 and 56.19. From the score of both groups, the result shows that the control group is better than experimental group. Then, the result of the post test of the experimental group is higher than control group; the average scores are 70,71 for experimental group and 62.38 for control group. It can be concluded that there is significant influence of using Pecha Kucha Technique in students’ speaking skill.

This research was aimed to find out the significant effect of Inquiry-Based Learning on students’ critical thinking in reading at third-semester students of  Faculty of Education, and Education of Science Qamarul Huda University, Bagu, Central Lombok in academic year 2019/2020. This research was experimental research that categorized by pre-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population of this research was at third-semester students of  Faculty of Education, and Education of Science Qamarul Huda University, Bagu, Central Lombok which consisted of 18 students and using surfeited sampling. The instrument of collecting the data was used multiple-choices and questionnaires. In this research, the writer rendered treatment and prepared a test in the form of multiple-choices to look the effect of Inquiry-Based Learning and questionnaires for look the critical thinking. The result of data analysis indicated at third-semester students of Faculty of Education, and Education of Science Qamarul Huda University, Bagu, Central Lombok attained high score on post-test whom were treated by Inquiry-Based Learning. It means that Inquiry-Based Learning gave a significant effect on critical thinking of students in reading. It was proven by the lowest and highest in pre-test score was 30 and 50 and post-test was 35 and 65. Then, the result of hypothesis testing was the alternative hypothesis accepted. It was provable that t-test was higher than t-table, which was the score of t-test was 3.81 and t-table in df 17 with significant 0.05 was 1.753.

This study expected to find out the effectiveness of teaching pronunciation through jazz chants and the students’ response toward the implementation of jazz chants method in teaching pronunciation at the eight grade of MTsN Parepare. The result of this research was expected to be useful information in the English teaching and learning process especially in the pronunciation teaching. This research applied pre-experimental method, with two group pre-test and post-test design. The samples of the research were consisted of 27 students from five classes taken from the population at the eight grade students of MTsN Parepare first semester in Academic Year 2018/2019.The result of the data analysis showed that the students’ pronunciation abilitywas improved. It could be showed from the result of the t-obtained value (7.698) was higher than t-table value (1.706). Those indicated that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It meant that the students’ pronunciationwas able increased by using jazz chants method. Besides that, the result of the questionnaire showed that most of the students agree and had a positive response in learning pronunciation by using jazz chants method. It could be showed from the result of the cumulative percentage on the fifteen items of the questionnaire was 89,28 (very strong), while the cumulative score that they got the questionnaire was 1808 (strongly agree). Based on the result of data analysis above, the researcher then concluded that the students’ pronunciation ability was improved and it is effective to teaching pronunciation through jazz chants at the eight grade of MTsN Parepare.

The aim of the research was to describe the learning atmosphere during the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders” in teaching Speaking. Besides, the research was also designed to know how the improvement of the students’ Speaking skill during the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders”. This research was a classroom action research. The participants of this research were 27 second semester students of English Study Program at STAIN Bengkalis. This research was conducted in two cycles by following the procedure of action research, i.e. planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaire, and test. The lecturer was the researcher assisted by collaborator as observer. The questionnaire was given to the students before and after the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders”. The tests were in the form of pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The qualitative data were analyzed using Interactive Model of Data Analysis as propounded by Matthew M. Miles and A.M. Huberman. The results of the research showed that the learning atmosphere also improved. The class became more active and confident. Furthermore, “Snakes and Ladders” was able to improve the students’ Speaking Skill. It was proven by the increase of the students’ mean score from 41.16 in pre-test to 46.21 in cycle 1, and 48.98 in cycle 2, although the results of the research were just a little bit improvement. It could be concluded that the use of “Snakes and Ladders” has proven to be an effective way in teaching-learning of Speaking Skill on Second Semester of English Study Program at STAIN Bengkalis.
