The article is devoted to the study and popularization of billiards among modern student youth as one of the types of game sports. The purpose of the research is to study the influence of playing billiards on the psychophysical state of student youth. The authors of the article set out the main trends associated with the increase in the level of physical development of modern students. Quite an important problem of the modern lifestyle is the gradual deterioration in the health of young people. In recent years, there has been a negative trend towards an increase in the number of young people with health problems and low levels of health. Despite the existing physical culture classes in higher and secondary educational institutions, the state of health of students is mainly deteriorating. This can be due to insufficient physical loads in classes, incorrect distribution of physical exercises, non-creative approach to the subject, or classes in general that can be carried out simply formally. An important task of modern education is to instill in young people a responsible attitude to their own health and the health of those around them as to the highest individual and social value. That is why, understanding the need to be attentive to the problems of one’s health, mastering the mechanisms of its maintenance, strengthening and restoration, cognition of the peculiarities of one’s individual mental and somatic organization is a prerequisite for longevity, self-realization as a person and as a member of society. The article presents the results of observations that allow judging the positive effect of billiards on general well-being and the level of physical and psycho-emotional health. The introduction of playing billiards in the educational process of higher educational institutions, in the author’s opinion, will contribute to solving some problems of the psychophysical health of a modern student.

The paper explores the influence of pedagogical concept of free education on the formation of the world view of adolescents from the noble-intelligent families of Russia at the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century. Attention is drawn to the fact that this pedagogical setup could be fully realized only in elite educational institutions. It is concluded that the new ideological parents and advanced schools carried out a single educational approach, focused on formation of a special intelligentsia opposition, accepting, or even supporting, all means in the struggle of citizens for freedom. Despite the fact that the group of new ideological parents could not have been a mass phenomenon by the beginning of the XX century, it, at the same time, spread its influence both to the rest of educated population of the country and to the Ministry of Public Education, which, in favor of advanced pedagogy, agreed on the widespread introduction of individual ideas of free education in secondary schools. As a result of purposeful efforts of family and school, young people from the early youth were drawn into political activity, which became one of the essential factors of the revolutionization of the Russian society.

XIX в. The speedy processes of capitalization of all aspects of the North Caucasus public life arising in the course of bourgeois reforms put new challenges for the regional system of public education. The ideas of the government and the highest Caucasian administration determined the general contours and directions of the development of the educational process, oriented first of all at professional training of specialists able to work effectively in the different branches of rapidly developing industry and trade. The end of the Caucasian war and the transition to a strategy of “civil” development of the region created a background for forming here the system of public education assigned for different strata of the indigenous population. One of the leading positions in it were occupied by institutions of the lower and middle educational levels, where the general educational component was supplemented by professional, mainly vocational training. The first such educational institutions appeared in Ossetia. Their evolution was in line with educational reforms carried out by the Ministry of Public Education in 1860s and especially 1870s. On the other hand, public organizations and individuals took active part in the activities of these schools, providing financial and technical support both to the institutions and their students. Due to public and private initiatives new schools were also opened adding the state educational institutions providing vocational training. The vocational schools in Vladikavkaz, which were complemented by vocational courses and special departments at the lower schools, were the lower and middle levels of the regional educational system. But, in spite of necessity of such schools, they could not fully satisfy the growing educational demands of the population of Ossetia. In these circumstances the public support partly helped resolving the contradictions between an ability of the regional educational system and educational demands of the local population. The subject of analysis in the proposed article is exactly the processes of formation of vocational education in post-reform Ossetia and the role of public initiative in them.
