The  article analyzes the  problems of  introducing new theoretical and methodological approaches in  the  educational process of  primary school. The authors consider the changes that occur in learning as a result of the creation and application of  pedagogical innovations  – ideas, principles, technologies, methods and teaching aids. Unfortunately, the analysis of the literary sources and work experience of  teachers in  primary schools of  the  Moscow Region indicate a  lack of  activity of  teachers in  this direction. One of  the  main  reasons for this problem is the lack of an innovative environment in educational institutions, which is  manifested in  the  methodological unpreparedness of  teachers, in  their poor awareness of the essence of pedagogical innovations.

In the modern educational process, teachers adapt lessons to the student’s individual abilities, prior knowledge, interests and social skills. The present study, whose aim is to examine the inclusion of differentiation in literacy lessons in the first and second grades of Slovenian primary schools, was carried out on a smaller scale (N = 79). It aims to determine the views of first- and second-grade primary school teachers on differentiation, and to find out how differentiation takes place in literacy lessons and which factors affect student performance in class. The results show that the inclusion of differentiation in literacy lessons is present in the entire initial literacy teaching process, and that Slovenian teachers undergo regular training and professional development courses in this area, thus contributing to the educational success of students and affecting their personal growth and development. Teachers estimate that the intertwining of individual abilities, family environment, engagement in co-curricular activities and well-developed social skills represents a key factor in student success. It was expected that internal differentiation would be more effective than external differentiation. Surprisingly, however, teachers report that heterogeneous groups do not enhance educational efficiency.

Background: The study presents a methodology for the hygienic assessment of school educational programs from the point of view of safety for the health of students and of effectiveness in improving the quality of education. The aim of the study was a hygienic assessment of educational programs in primary schools. Methods and Results: The study involved primary school students (n=245) aged between 8 and 9.5 years: 120 children studying under the “Planet of knowledge” program (Group 1) and 125 children studying under the “Primary school of the XXI century” program (Group 2). The hygienic factors are studied using the methodology of assessing the intensity of educational work and the conditions of the organization of the educational process. The obtained data are compared with the main criteria of the state of children’s neuropsychological development. We found that the program “Primary school of the XXI century” is characterized by the intensity of educational work (2.7±0.13 points) and approaches to the third degree, according to the criterion of intellectual loads. In contrast, the program “Planet of knowledge” is characterized by a lower intensity of educational work – 2.1±0.08 points (P=0.000) . The indicators of sensory and emotional intensity of educational work under the program “Primary school of the XXI century” were also statistically higher. Conclusions: - The high intensity of educational work does not ensure high rates and levels of intellectual development and mental performance of children. - The hygienic assessment of children’s educational activities should include a comprehensive hygienic examination of the educational program and the means used in the process of its implementation. - An educational program may be allowed to be used in educational organizations only after a hygienic examination of its application in the educational process.
