A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2017 at Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, to study different row ratio of chickpea and mustard on growth, yield and quality of mustard. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design with two sole crops of chickpea and mustard including eight different row ratio of chickpea + mustard (2:1, 3:1,3:3, 4:2, 4:4, 5:1, 6:2 and 8:2). Results indicates that, sole mustard recorded higher growth parameters viz. plant height, leaf area, number of branches primary and secondary per plant, dry matter and higher seed, straw yield and harvest index. Among intercropping, higher growth attributes were found in 5:1 row ratio. Significantly higher seed (1128 kg ha-1), straw yield (2294 kg ha-1) and harvest index (27.62 %) was found in 4:4 ratio, followed by 3:3 row ratio. Higher oil content (35.16 %) and oil yield (606 kg ha-1) was recorded in sole mustard.

People with diabetes mellitus are at risk of developing complications, so that it affects the quality of life. These complications can be minimized through self-care management. This study aims to determine the relationship between self management with the quality of life for people with diabetes mellitus. This research is a kind of quantitative research with correlation study. This research used cross sectional design. The sampling technique uses non probability with estimation consecutive sampling. The number of respondents in this research are 118 respondents. Instrument for measuring self management used diabetes self management questionnaire (DSMQ), and instruments to measure quality of life used quality of life WHOQOL-BREEF. The data obtained were processed statistically by using spearman rank test formula and p value of 0,000 There is a significant relationship of self management with the quality of life of people with diabetes mellitus.

Penderita Diabetes mellitus beresiko mengalami komplikasi yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidupnya. In this study, different oil extraction processes, such as extrusion pretreatment, ultrasound-ethanol assisted demulsification and traditional hexane extraction of oil, were employed to extract oil from soybean in order to compare their different effects on oil quality, fatty acid distribution and VE content of oil. The result shows that the quality of oil from extrusion pretreatment aqueous enzyme extraction (EAEP) of oil and ultrasound-ethanol assisted demulsification aqueous enzyme extraction of oil were same. The raw oil quality from the above two processes was better than the hexane extraction of oil. The fatty acid contents of oil were similar in different oil extraction processes. The VE content of oil from ultrasound-ethanol assisted demulsification process was decreased, while the extrusion pretreatment aqueous enzyme extraction of oil had no influence on VE concentration.

This study investigated the compost quality of sericulture waste on the growth of Anogeissus leiocarpus using two composting methods. The two-method adopted were M1 (pile method) and M2 (bin method). Sericulture waste which includes mulberry leaves and silkworm excreta were air dried for 24hours, measured (1 kg) and set in layers for both methods adopted. Samples of compost from each method were taken before planting to the laboratory for proximate analysis. Descriptive statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze the data obtained. Anogeissus leiocarpus seeds were soaked for 10 minutes at 35oC and at 9.5oC for 24 hours to enhance the breaking of its dormancy. Anogeissus leiocarpus seeds was planted using sericulture compost from both adopted methods. Result shows that M1 had the highest mineral composition. M1 recorded the highest (N %) with the value of 0.93%; (P %) with 0.089%; (K %) with 0.58%; (Ca %) with the value of 1.78% and (Mg %) with the value of 0.72% while M2 had a lower mineral composition. The result obtained for the early growth parameters shows that M1 had a higher plant height and stem girth which was significantly different from M2, the mixture of the two compost had the highest leaf count which was also significant while the control recorded the lowest value for all the parameters assessed. This result suggests that pile composting method is the best method for composting sericulture waste and can be used as a good and preferable alternative for inorganic manure in raising seedlings and trees species. Adopting the use of sericulture waste as compost will help in reducing the waste management problem, enhance economic use of farm waste and also help to ease the low germination rate and germination percentage of Anogeissus leiocarpus.
