This article focuses on the recent acceleration of digital education triggered by the Covid19 pandemic. Protective measures, particularly the social distancing, translated into an institutional shock for the standard form of schooling. By drawing on a summary of current investigations on the topic (Brehm, Unterhalter & Oketch, 2021; Grek & Landri, 2021), the article describes how swift digitalization has reinforced the entanglement of public education into private owned and commercial platforms and paved the way to the emergence of the blended school form. The instabilities of the current process of institutional repair are underlined together with the risk of increasing unbalanced private and public partnership in the education system, and/or returning to the standard form of schooling in the future post-pandemic scenario.

Through its quality assurance laws, Chile’s National Agency for Quality of Education (Agencia de Calidad de la Educación) is responsible for guiding and evaluating the country’s state schools and promoting a process of continuous improvement in public education. To this end, the Agency visits schools and analyses the work they do using various quality assurance instruments. This article uses qualitative methodology and a comprehensive-interpretative approach to examine how school directors have responded to the Agency. The results indicate that school directors do not consider the Agency to have recognised those aspects of school management that are conditioned by the social vulnerability of the communities schools serve, and that its evaluation criteria remain excessively standardised. The article concludes that, in order to substantially improve the Chilean education system, the government needs to show a greater level of commitment and the Agency needs to work more closely with the schools that make up the public education system.

This paper systematically addresses different concepts of anomy and norms among young men from selected groups in society. Government authorities in Madagascar who are responsible for public education are concerned about the social changes we are experiencing collectively. They have a more elaborate and better vision to guide young people in a professional and social world. In this perspective, they recognize that globalization, for example, is gradually creating a new phenomenon, in this case: technology. Many people believe that citizenship education enables adolescents to cope with these changes, since from this perspective, the child from birth is seen as part of a community, to whom he or she will eventually contribute.  Citizenship is a mechanism that consolidates and convinces the future citizen of the importance of his social and political involvement and the valorization of his identity roots.

Ferenc Balázs served as a rapporteur of minority education directly under the administration of the Ministry of Religion and Education between 1938 and 1944. Almost the whole area of Transdanubia (so-called ’Dunántúl’) belonged to his competence. His task was to observe the introduction of the unified education system, then to monitor the transition to full native language education from 1941. There have been many obstacles to both of the systems. In addition to these, he had to take into account the activity of the Volksbund, which acted decisively; Balázs was able to handle these situations objectively based on the documemted events. He examined hundreds of schools, the results were regularly reported to the Ministry. He did not only deal with the effectiveness of the national education system in a narrow sense, but also with issues related to public education in general: the condition of school buildings, deficiencies in equipment, the social and health status of children, the training of teachers. Moreover he has been involved in major events affecting the day-to-day running of schools, such as secret ballots prior to the introduction of full native language education, inspection of the language skills of teachers, supervising the preparation of curriculum and syllabus, but for example, he also translated the text of the prayer used in teaching to German.

BACKGROUND: Mask wearing in the COVID-19 pandemic was previously hypothesized as a protective symbol that decreases compliance with other measures such as face touching and social distancing. However, the face mask is now central to the prevention of viral spread. AIM: In this paper, we looked at the shift of guidelines regarding mask use and the mask-wearing adherence habits of the Kittitian population at the onset of the pandemic. METHODS: In this study, we observed 468 individuals, each for 5 min, for the different types of face masks used and their adherence to the Center for Disease Control guidelines for the use of this personal protective equipment. We did the observation at three different locations at Basseterre, St. Kitts, from the 21st to April 30, 2020. RESULTS: We noted that 49.31% had medical-grade masks (N95 and surgical), 36.11% had improvised masks, and 14.74% had no facial covering. About 34% of persons with masks were not correctly covering their nose or mouth and 16.45% were touching their face with their hands. Wearing any face-covering appears to lead to more face touching than no covering at 18.25% versus 5.8%. The highest proportion of errors was seen in wearers of surgical masks, leaving the mouth/ nose uncovered at 12.08% of all errors. CONCLUSION: We recommend for public education and political efforts to increase adherence to mask use in conjunction with other protective measures such as social distancing and hand washing for curbing the COVID-19 transmission in St. Kitts and Nevis.

In this paper we investigate the dynamics of the transformative capacity of entrepreneurship education by studying the interplay between structure (society and the education system) and agency (individuals — students) that takes place in two different cultural settings: Finland and Egypt. By adopting the morphogenetic theory and by combining the etic-emic approach we compare society and the education system in these countries, and analyse Finnish and Egyptian students' views on entrepreneurship. The results indicate that structural conditioning is strong in both societies and students' views tend to follow the national policy rather than show any tendency to transform it. Thus the national policy may be an efficient tool with which to advance entrepreneurship education. The findings lead to the anticipation that while in Egypt entrepreneurship education offers opportunities for morphogenesis within and by crossing the borders of the social classes, in Finland morphostasis is more likely to take place in the future.

The Covid-19 pandemic impact all public spheres of city inhabitants' lives, also changed the conditions of travel-ing by public transport, especially in the field of personal passenger safety. The introduced limits on people in public transport vehicles and the need to maintain social distancing or cover the mouth and nose in a public transport vehicle - for various reasons - have been met with different understanding by users. The question then arose: are passengers actually complying with the rules of the pandemic when traveling by tram or bus? The paper attempts to assess the behavior of passengers, based on the opinions of people who observe these behav-iors in their daily work, driving public transport vehicles. For this purpose, a survey was carried out among bus and tram drivers of the main public transport operator in Krakow. On the basis of 334 fulfilled questionnaires, it was found that - according to the drivers - passengers often quite freely approach the limits of people in vehicles, and often do not respect the social distancing, especially when alighting and boarding. However, what is opti-mistic, the drivers highly assessed their own safety when performing their official duties - which is extremely important in the context of ensuring the continuity of public transport during a pandemic. Only 10% of drivers considered that the current solutions to protect passengers (and drivers themselves) are sufficient, therefore they called for an increase in the scope of protective measures: an increase in the number of public transport courses (to keep existing passengers), the obligatory use of protective masks (instead of ineffective loosely obligation to cover the face and nose), or the introduction of closed driver cabins in buses (as in trams). The obtained re-search results are of a cognitive nature, they can be a supplement to the travel studies at this specific time. They can also provide support in taking action in the case of a return of the Covid-19 pandemic or similar incidents in the future.

After fifty years of almost continuous economic growth in Thailand, it is now possible to reevaluate the developmental process of the education system. Until now, the structural indicators of education development that have been mainly used are the level and pace of the increases in public expenditure on education, the effect of increasing enrolment on social mobility, and the private and public distribution of investment in education. The impact of these factors undeniably offers a better understanding of the quantitative advances in education. However, the dynamics of the education system nowadays encounter structural limits related to both the integration of what is now widespread education within the social structures and Thailand's contribution to globalization. As a result, the contribution of education to the growth regime is increasingly questioned. The aim of this paper is to use a historical approach to explore this evolution. Theoretical and historical perspectives are combined within a quantitative history methodology, drawing on new time-series.
