ABSTRACT The WHO survey results show that the number of DM patients in Indonesia is ranked the 4th largest in the world. DM causes death by 5% every year. Deaths from DM are expected to increase by 50% in the next ten years. The results of the 2007 Central Java RISKESDAS showed that the prevalence of DM in Central Java province was 0.8% and overall was 1.3%. The highest prevalence is found in Cilacap Regency (3.9%), second place is Tegal City Regency (3.1%), for the third place is Surakarta (2.8%), fourth place is Pemalang (2.1%), and fifth place is occupied by Banyumas (1.9%) (Ministry of Health, 2009). This study used an experimental design by treating the group of cases. The research instruments in this study were interview guides about the number of remaining antidiabetic drugs to check the compliance and MMAS questionnaires that had been validated and translated into Indonesian versions (Setyaningsih, 2013). The results of data analysis using the Chi-Square test were obtained p = 0.220 (p> 0.05) based on the MMAS questionnaire, this indicates that this indicates that this study of age has a significant influence on the adherence of antidiabetic use in DM patients in Perum Ketapang Sokaraja Kulon.   Keywords: Age, Diabetes Mellitus, Drug Information

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) and diabetes mellitus (DM) prevalence rates are increasing rapidly, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. There is a relationship between TB and DM that are very prominent, which is the prevalence of pulmonary TB with DM increased by 20 times compared with pulmonary TB without diabetes. Chest X-ray picture of TB patients with DM is atypical lesion. However, there are contradictories of pulmonary TB lesion on chest radiograph of DM patients. Nutritional status has a close relationship with the morbidity of DM, as well as TB.Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the lesions of TB on the chest radiograph of patients who su?er from DM with their Body Mass Index (BMI) in Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung.Material and Methods: The study was conducted in Department of Radiology RSHS Bandung between October 2014 - February 2015. We did a consecutive sampling of chest radiograph and IMT of DM patients with clinical diagnosis of TB, then the data was analysed by Chi Square test to determine the relationship between degree of lesions on chest radiograph of pulmonary TB on patients who have DM with their BMI.Results: The results showed that adult patients with active pulmonary TB with DM mostly in the range of age 51-70 years old, equal to 62.22%, with the highest gender in men, equal to 60%. Chest radiograph of TB in patients with DM are mostly seen in people who are obese, which is 40% and the vast majority of lesions are minimal lesions that is equal to 40%.Conclusions: There is a signifcant association between pulmonary TB lesion degree with BMI, with p = 0.03

Abstract Background Patient awareness surveys on polypharmacy have been reported previously, but no previous study has examined the effects of sending feedback to health professionals on reducing medication use. Our study aimed to conduct a patient survey to examine factors contributing to polypharmacy, feedback the results to health professionals, and analyze the resulting changes in the number of polypharmacy patients and prescribed medications. Methods After conducting a questionnaire survey of patients in Study 1, we provided its results to the healthcare professionals, and then surveyed the number of polypharmacy patients and oral medications using a before-after comparative study design in Study 2. In Study 1, we examined polypharmacy and its contributing factors by performing logistic regression analysis. In Study 2, we performed a t-test and a chi-square test. Results In the questionnaire survey, significant differences were found in the following 3 items: age (odds ratio (OR) = 3.14; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 2.01–4.91), number of medical institutions (OR = 2.34; 95%CI = 1.50–3.64), and patients’ difficulty with asking their doctors to deprescribe their medications (OR = 2.21; 95%CI = 1.25–3.90). After the feedback, the number of polypharmacy patients decreased from 175 to 159 individuals and the mean number of prescribed medications per patient decreased from 8.2 to 7.7 (p < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions Providing feedback to health professionals on polypharmacy survey results may lead to a decrease in the number of polypharmacy patients. Factors contributing to polypharmacy included age (75 years or older), the number of medical institutions (2 or more institutions), and patients’ difficulty with asking their physicians to deprescribe their medications. Feedback to health professionals reduced the percentage of polypharmacy patients and the number of prescribed medications. Trial registration UMIN. This study assessed differences in response rates to a series of three-wave mail surveys when amiable or insistently worded postcards were the third wave of the mailing. Three studies were conducted; one with a sample of 600 health commissioners, one with a sample of 680 vascular nurses, and one with 600 elementary school secretaries. The combined response rates for the first and second wave mailings were 65.8%, 67.6%, and 62.4%, respectively. A total of 308 amiable and 308 insistent postcards were sent randomly to nonrespondents as the third wave mailing. Overall, there were 41 amiable and 52 insistent postcards returned, not significantly different by chi-square test. However, a separate chi-square test for one of the three studies, the nurses' study, did find a significant difference in favor of the insistently worded postcards.

Background: Cognitive development plays an important role in a child’s life. Cognitive development and sleep patterns can interfere with the brain cell growth related to health and nutrition in children. Many children are reported to have eating difficulty in infantile anorexia. Infantile anorexia is an eating disorder during the children’s period of learning (6 - 36 months of age). The disorder is characterized by extreme refusal of eating, deficiency of growth, and loss of typical appetite. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the association of infantile anorexia at 12 - 36 months of age with cognitive development and sleep patterns in children. Methods: This analytic observational study with a case-control design was conducted on the subjects divided into 40 infantile anorexia children and 40 controls. Infantile anorexia was diagnosed by a trained pediatrician. Cognitive assessment was measured by the Capute Scale test. The Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire measured the data on children’s sleep patterns. The association of infantile anorexia and children’s cognitive development was analyzed by the chi-square test. Results: The result showed a significant association between infantile anorexia and children’s cognitive development (OR: 52.76; 95% CI: 6.58 - 423.0; P < 0.001). A similar association was also observed between children’s sleep patterns and infantile anorexia (OR: 4.88; 95% CI: 1.80 - 13.21; P < 0.002). Conclusions: The findings of this study demonstrated that children with infantile anorexia are more likely to have impaired cognitive development and abnormal sleep patterns.

Index of stock abundance of Lizardfish (Saurida micropectoralis) in Java Sea tend to decreased from year to year. The decline was expected because of the potential of Lizardfish decreasing but the effort continue to rise. The objective of this study is to assess the biological aspects including length-weight relationship, sex ratio, gonadal maturity stage, length of first capture (Lc) and length of first mature (Lm), and feeding habit of Lizardfish in north waters of Central Java. This study was conducted from April to August 2009 in north waters of Central Java. Results showed that the sex ratio between males and females was 1:0,97. Based on Chi-square test it is showed that sex ratio is not balanced. The growth of Lizardfish indicated positive allometric where the weight growth more faster than its length growth. The gonadalmaturity stage of Lizard fish is dominated by the first stage. The length of first capture of Lizardfish was under the length of first mature (Lc < Lm) so that will threaten its sustainability. Lizardfish was indicated carnivorous species where its main food are part of demersal fishes, squids and anchovies.

Objective: Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease seen widely around the world. Although many aspects and treatment of this disease is well known, peritoneal involvement and ascites is not well established so far. Material and Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled 346 adult patients (aged >17 years) with acute Brucellosis attending Hepatology Clinic, Van Yuzuncu Yil University, between April 2013 and May 2016. Characteristics of those with and without ascites were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients and Chi-Square test in SPSS software system. Results: Of the 346 cases, 20 (5, 7%) had ascites. Those with ascites had significantly higher transaminase, cholestatic enzyme and amylase levels compared to those without ascites. Conclusions: We conclude that acute Brucella infection can lead to a unique low gradient ascites probably resulting from pancreatic leakage followed by peritoneal accumulation of serum proteins.

The city of Surakarta is one of the cultural and historical tourist destinations that continues to develop in Indonesia. The trend of an increase in the number of tourists in 2016-2018 has led to the emergence of many accommodation facilities in the city of Surakarta. Differences in location characteristics in each accommodation facility will affect tourists in choosing accommodation facilities. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the location of accommodation facilities chosen by domestic and foreign tourists in the city of Surakarta, as well as the relationship between the characteristics of the location of accommodation facilities with the characteristics of tourists based on the age and place of origin of tourists. This study uses a spatial comparison analysis method and uses a chi-square statistical analysis to see the relationship between variables, such as the characteristics of the location of accommodation facilities and characteristics of tourists. The results of this study indicate that the location characteristics of the accommodation facilities chosen by foreign and domestic tourists are different. Foreign tourists tend to choose star hotels, while for domestic tourists the choice varies, namely star hotels and non-star hotels. In addition, there is a relationship between the characteristics of domestic tourists with the characteristics of the location of selected accommodation facilities, while for the characteristics of foreign tourists there is no relationship with the characteristics of the location of selected accommodation facilities.
