ABSTRACTJatropha curcas L. leaves is plants containing saponins, flavonoid compounds such as kaempferol, nicotoflorin, quersitin, astragalin, ricinin and vitamin C. Flavonoids showed more than one hundred kinds of bioactivity, which is antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Several researches informed that flavonoid compound had antipyretic activity. The aim of this study was to examined the effect of ethanolic extract of Jatropha curcas L. leaves as antipyretic on white Wistar male rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with DPT. There were 15 rats tested, divided into 5 groups that is negative control (CMC 1%), positive control (paracetamol) and treatment group of physic nut leaves extract 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Every rat was induced by fever using 0,4 ml of DPT vaccine intramuscularly. The temperature was measured before the rats were induced, 2-3 hour after induced and every 30 minute for 3 hours. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Variants) and LSD. The results showed that the dose group of Jatropha curcas L. leaves ethanol extract had comparable activity with positive control of paracetamol in reducing fever. The conclusion was the ethanol extract of Jatropha curcas L. leaves has an antipyretic activity that could reduce temperature on white Wistar male rats at a dose of 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Keywords: Jatropha curcas L., antipyretic, Rattus norvegicus ABSTRAKDaun Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung saponin, senyawa flavonoida antara lain kaempferol, nikotoflorin, kuersitin, astragalin, risinin dan vitamin C. Setiap tikus diinduksi demam dengan vaksin DPT dosis 0,4 ml secara intramuskular. Pengukuran suhu dilakukan sebelum induksi, 2-3 jam setelah pemberian induksi dan setiap 30 menit selama 3 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) dan uji LSD (Least Significant Different). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok dosis ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar memiliki aktivitas yang sebanding dengan kontrol positif parasetamol dalam menurunkan demam. Kesimpulannya ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) memiliki aktivitas antipiretik yang dapat menurunkan suhu tubuh pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus) pada dosis 200 mg, 400 mg dan 800 mg. Kata kunci: Jatropha curcas L., antipiretik, Rattus norvegicus

ABSTRACTStarfruit leaves (Averrhoa Bilimbi L) is a plant that contains tannins and flavonoids. In accordance with previous research it was stated that tannins and flavonoids have antiperetic activity. This study aims to determine whether the ethanol extract of starfruit leaves has an antiperetic effect in wistar male rats (Rattus Norvegicus L) induced by the DPT vaccine. This study used 15 test animals and devided into 5 grops consisting of negative control (cmc 1%), positive control (paracetamol) and the test dose group namely the administration of starfruit leaves extract 3,6 mg/200 grams BW, 7,2 mg/200 grams BW and 14,4 mg/200 grams BW. Each mouse was induced with DPT vaccine doses of 0,2 ml intramuscularly. Temperature measurements were made taken before induction, 2 hours after induction and every 30 minutes for 3 hours. The results showed a decrease in temperature in the 60th minute of starfruit leaves 3,6 mg/200 grams BW, 7,2 mg/200 grams BW and 14,4 mg/200 grams BW. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way ANOVA test and LSD test. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of starfruit leaves 3,6 m, 7,2 mg and 14,4 mg has antiperetic activity in male white rats. Keywords : Averrhoa bilimbi L,Antiperetic,Rattus novergicus L,Vaksin DPTABSTRAK Daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.)  adalah salah satu tanaman yang mengandung zat tanin dan flavonoid. Penelitian ini menggunakan hewan uji sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yang terdiri dari kontrol negatif (CMC 1%),  kontrol positif (parasetamol) dan kelompok dosis uji yaitu pemberian ekstrak daun Belimbing wuluh 3,6 mg/200 gram BB, 7,2 mg/200 gram BB, dan 14,4 mg/200 gram  BB. Tiap  tikus diinduksi dengan vaksin DPT sebanyak 0,2 ml secara intramuskular. Pengukuran suhu dilakukan sebelum induksi, 2 jam setelah pemberian induksi dan setiap 30 menit selama 3 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi penuruan suhu pada menit yang ke 60 ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh 3,6 mg/200 gram BB, 7,2 mg/200 gram BB, dan 14,4 mg/200 gram BB.  Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA satu arah dan uji LSD dapat menurunkan suhu rektal tikus. Data yang diperoleh dianalisa menggunakan ANOVA. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh 3,6 mg, 7,2 mg, dan 14,4 mg mempunyai aktivitas antipiretik pada tikus putih jantan.  Kata Kunci :  Averrhoa bilimbi L., Antipiretik, Rattus norvegicus L,  Vaksin DPT

ABSTRACTJatropha leaves (Jatropha curcas L.) contains alkaloid, saponin, tannin, terpenoid, steroid, glycoside, phenol compound and flavonoid through ethanol extract. Until today the community still used the plant as a wound healing medicine. The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of jatropha curcas L. leaf extract ointment for healing in male white rats wistar strain.  Jatropha leaves extract ointment was tested on 5 which consists of 3 rats in each treatment groups, that is base ointment (negative control), ointment betadine (positive control), ointment extract of Jatropha leaves 10%, 20% and 40%. Observations has made until the 14th day. And data were tested using ANOVA (Analysis of Variants) and continued with LSD (Least Significant Different) test.  Statistical test results showed a difference in the duration of wound healing in male white rats wistar strain between the ointment extract of jatropha leaf with ointment betadine and vaseline ointment. Keywords: Ointment, Jatropha extract (Jatropha curcas L.), Galur wistar, Wound.ABSTRAK Daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) mengandung zat-zat alkaloid, saponin, tannin, terpenoid, steroid, glikosida, senyawa fenol dan flavonoid melalui ekstrak etanol. Hingga saat ini masyarakat masih menggunakan tanaman tersebut sebagai obat penyembuh luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas salep ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar terhadap penyembuhan luka sayat pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar. Salep ekstrak daun jarak pagar  diujikan pada hewan uji tikus sebanyak 5 yang terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus disetiap kelompok perlakuan, yaitu  basis salep (kontrol negatif), salep betadine (kontrol positif), salep ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar 10%, 20% dan 40%. Pengamatan dilakukan sampai hari ke 14. Data diuji dengan menggunakan ANOVA (Analisis Of Variant) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji LSD (Least Significant Different). Hasil uji statistik menunjukan adanya perbedaan terhadap lamanya penyembuhan luka pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar antara sediaan salep ekstrak daun jarak pagar dengan salep salep betadine dan basis salep. Kata Kunci: Salep, Daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.), Galur wistar, Luka sayat.

Research on potential hypoglycemic effects of ethanol extract combination of onion forest bulbs (Eleutherine bulbosa) and burmani cortex (Cinnamomum burmanii) in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic and glucose tolerant rats (Rattus norvegicus) has been conducted. This study aimed to determine the hypoglycemic effect and the effective dose of ethanol extract combination of forest onion bulbs and cinnamon cortex. Extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol. A number of 30 male rats were divided into 6 groups and each group consisted of 5 rats. The first group (negative control) was given Na.CMC; the second group (positive control 1) glibenclamide 0.45 mg/kgBW; the third group (positive control 2) acarbose 9 mg/kgBW; while the 4th, 5th, and 6th were successively given combination of ethanol extract of forest onion bulbs and cinnamon cortex at doses of 100+100, 50+50, and 25+25 mg/kgBW. Each rat group was intraperitoneally (ip) induced with STZ 40 mg/kgBW and then treated for 14 days, after the rats developed diabetic condition, glucose tolerance test was performed with the induction of sucrose 150mg/kgBW which was continued with observation in minute 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180. Treatment data were analyzed using ANOVA (analysis of variance) with 95% confidence interval. The results showed that ethanol extract combination of forest onion bulbs and cinnamon cortex had potential hypoglycemic effects in male rats of which the most effective combination dose was at a dose of 50 + 50 mg/kgBW

ABSTRACTHyperglicemia is condition where blood sugar levels surge or excessive, which will eventually become a disease called Diabetes Mellitus (DM). One of the plants that can be used for antidiabetic activity or to repair pancreatic β cells is jarak pagar. The study conducted using 15 rats induced with 3 mL of 60% glucosa. Animals then divided into 5 groups, Metformin(10.557 mg), Na-CMC, 125 mg/kg BW, 250 mg/kg BW and 375 mg/kg BW of ethanol extract of jarak pagar leaves. The results showed the percentage value of decrease in blood sugar D1 (19.46%), D2 (15.91%), D3 (53.17%) and the positive group (Metformin) (10.24%). Conclusion: the extract group dose 375 mg/kgBW can reduce blood sugar levels better that the group given extracts dose D1 and D2.  Keywords: Jarak Pagar Leaves (Jatropha curcas L.), Ethanol Extract, Antihyperglycemia, Diabetes.  ABSTRAKHiperglikemia adalah keadaan dimana kadar gula darah melebihi nilai normal dan merupakan salah satu indikasi pada penyakit Diabetes Melitus. Salah satu tumbuhan yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk aktifitas antidiabetes atau memperbaiki sel β pankreas adalah jarak  pagar. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar dalam menurunkan kadar gula darah tikus putih jantan. Penelitian menggunakan hewan uji sebanyak 15 ekor untuk diinduksikan dengan glukosa 60% sebanyak 3 mL/ekor. Hewan uji kemudian dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, kelompok positif, kelompok negatif, dosis 125 mg/kgBB, dosis 250 mg/kgBB, dan dosis 375 mg/kgBB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai persentase penurunan gula darah D1 (19.46%), D2 (15.91%), D3 (53.17%) dan kelompok positif (Metformin) (10.24%). Kesimpulan: kelompok ekstrak dosis 375 mg/kgBB dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah lebih baik dibandingkan kelompok yang diberikan ekstrak dosis D1 dan D2. Kata kunci :    Daun Jarak Pagar (Jatropha Curcas L.) , Ekstrak Etanol, Antihiperglikemia, Diabetes.

Irregular urine output triggers kidney stone disease. One way to cure it is by using synthetic diuretic compounds. The use of synthetic diuretic drugs for a long time can cause side effects, namely gastric damage. Therefore, research is needed to determine the diuretic effect of ethanol extract of avocado leaves (Persea americana) and its effect on the histological structure of the gastric  of male rats. Avocado leaf extract is made by maceration method, using 70% ethanol and then evaporated. Wistar male rats were divided into 5 treatment groups namely negative control (aquadest), positive control (furosemide), avocado leaf extract dose of 50 mg / kg body weight, 100 mg / kg body weight, and 150 mg / kg body weight with oral administration for 15 days. The volume of urine  was measured for 24 hours, then the mice were sacrified on the 16th day. Gastric organs were taken for histological observation by the paraffin method and Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining. The results showed that the optimum avocado leaf ethanol extract was a dose of 100 mg/kg showed a diuretic effect but did not affect the histological structure of the gastric.

ABSTRACTBitter melon fruit (Momordica charantia L.) is one of the plants that contains flavonoid compound supposedly as anti-hyperuricemic activity. This study aims to determine the potential activity of reducing uric acid levels from the ethanol extract of bitter melon fruit (Momordica charantia L.) on white wistar male rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with caffeine. This study is a laboratory experiment using a complete randomized design. A total of 15 rats were divided into 5 groups : negative control (CMC 1%), positive control (Allopurinol), and treatment group of bitter melon fruit (Momordica charantia L.) extract 0,9 mg, 1,8 mg, and 3,6 mg. Hyperuricemic condition was induced by oral administration of  27 mg/200 gr caffeine for 6 days. The uric acid levels was measured before the rats was induced, 6 days after induced and every 3 days of 9 days of treatment. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA (Analisis of Variance) and LSD (Least Significant Different). The results show that the dose group of the ethanol extrack of bitter melon fruit had comparable with positive control of Allopurinol in decrease uric acid levels. Sebanyak 15 ekor tikus dibagi dalam 5 kelompok perlakuan : kontrol negatif (CMC 1%), kontrol positif (Allopurinol), dan kelompok dosis uji yaitu pemberian ekstrak etanol buah pare 0,9 mg/200 gr BB; 1,8 mg/200 gr BB; 3,6 mg/200 gr BB. Induksi hiperurisemia dilakukan dengan kafein dosis 27 mg/200 gr selama 6 hari. Pengukuran kadar asam urat dilakukan sebelum induksi, 6 hari setelah diinduksi dan setiap 3 hari selama 9 hari perlakuan. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) dan LSD (Least Significant Different). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok dosis ekstrak etanol buah pare memiliki aktivitas yang sebanding dengan kontrol positif allopurinol dalam menurunkan kadar asam urat. Kesimpulannya ekstrak etanol buah pare (Momordica charantia L.) memiliki aktivitas antihiperurisemia pada tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus) pada dosis 0,9 mg/200 gr BB; 1,8 mg/200 gr BB; 3,6 mg/200 gr BB. Kata kunci : Momordica charantia L., antihiperurisemia, Rattus norvegicus, kafein.

Kasus penyakit hati semakin meningkat seiring penggunaan senyawa hepatotoksin salah satunya karena penggunaan parasetamol dengan dosis berlebih. Hal tersebut dapat meningkatkan produksi radikal bebas sehingga memicu terjadinya stress oksidatif yang dapat menimbulkan kerusakan jaringan yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar Malondialdehyde (MDA). Stress oksidatif dapat diatasi dengan antioksidan dari berbagai tanaman. Kulit kayu manis memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 53ppm dan daun pandan wangi 39,7%  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas kombinasi ekstrak etanol daun pandan wangi dan kayu manis dalam menurunkan kadar MDA. tikus yang diinduksi parasetamol. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental, dilakukan selama 9 hari dengan 30 ekor tikus jantan dibagi menjadi 6 Kelompok, yaitu: Normal diberi aquadest, Kontrol Positif diberi silimarin 100 mg/kgBB, Kontrol Negatif diberi CMC-Na 0,05%, serta 3 kelompok lainnya diberi kombinasi ekstrak daun pandan wangi:kayu manis berturut-turut dosis I (25:75), dosis II (50:50), dosis III (75:25). Semua kelompok diinduksi parasetamol 2,5 g/kgBB pada hari ke-7  setelah 30 menit perlakuan, kecuali kelompok normal. Pada hari ke 9 dilakukan pengukuran kadar MDA dengan metode TBARs menggunakan spektrofotometri. Pemberian kombinasi ekstrak etanol daun pandan wangi dan kayu manis dapat menurunkan kadar MDA dengan kombinasi dosis yang paling optimal adalah 75:25 berdasarkan statistik dengan nilai signifikan 0,000<0,05 dibandingkan dengan kelompok negatif.    Cases of liver disease have increased with the use of hepatotoxin compounds, one of which is due to the use of paracetamol with excessive doses. This can increase the production of free radicals so that it triggers oxidative stress which can cause tissue damage which is characterized by increased levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA). Oxidative stress can be overcome with antioxidants from various plants. Cinnamomum burmanii has antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 53ppm and Pandanus amarrylifolius 39.7%. This study aims to determine the combined activity of ethanol extract of Pandanus amarrylifolius and Cinnamomum burmanii  in reducing MDA levels. Paracetamol-induced rats. Research using experimental methods, conducted for 9 days with 30 male rats divided into 6 groups, namely: Normal given aquadest, Positive Control were given silimarin 100 mg / kgBB, Negative Control was given CMC-Na 0.05%, and 3 other groups were given a combination of Pandanus amarrylifolius extract: Cinnamomum burmanii dose I (25:75), dose II (50:50), dose III (75:25). All groups induced paracetamol 2.5 g / kgBB on the 7th day after 30 minutes of treatment, except the normal group. On the 9th day MDA levels were measured using the TBARs method using spectrophotometry. Giving a combination of Pandanus amarrylifolius and Cinnamomum burmanii ethanol extract can reduce MDA levels with the most optimal dose combination is 75:25 based on statistics with a significant value of 0,000<0.05 compared with the negative group.

Moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leaves contains many molecules as inhibitors for free radicals such as phenolic compounds (phenolic acids, flavonoids, quinones, coumarins, lignans, stilbenes, tannins), nitrogen compounds (alkaloids, amines, betalain), vitamins, terpenoids (including carotenoids), and several other endogenous metabolites as antioxidants. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant potency of water and ethanol extracts of moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leave obtained by maceration and dekok. The concentration of free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer after addition of various concentrations of Moringa leaves extracts. Various concentrations of moringa leave extracts used were 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm and 80 ppm. Vitamin C solutions as the positive control were prepared on similar various concentrations. The negative control was prepared using DPPH solutions dissolved in absolute ethanol. The results indicated that the ethanol extract of moringa leaves prepared by maceration method showed the antioxidant potency with an IC50 value of 22.1818 ppm, but the IC50 value of water extract of moringa leaves prepared by dekok was 57.5439 ppm. While, the IC50 value of Vitamin C was 8.8084 ppm. Based on the IC50 data it can be concluded that Vitamin C is a stronger antioxidant than moringa leaves extracts.

ABSTRACT Sponges are a component of coral reef biota that has bioactive compounds with a greater percentage of activity compared to compounds produced by terrestrial plants. This study aims to determine the presence of antioxidant activity in the ethanol extracts of sponge Ianthella basta from the waters of Tumbak Village. Ianthella basta sponge was extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant activity testing was carried out using the DPPH method with a concentration of 100 µg / mL, 75 μg / mL, 50 μg / mL, and 25 μg / mL and Vitamin C p.a as positive control. Each sample was made three repetitions of the test. Testing using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the Ianthella basta sponge had antioxidant activity with a percentage of 48.73% at a concentration of 100 µg / mL. Keywords: Ianthella basta sponge, Antioxidants, Extraction, DPPH  ABSTRAK Spons merupakan salah satu komponen biota penyusun terumbu karang yang mempunyai senyawa bioaktif dengan persentase keaktifan lebih besar dibandingkan dengan senyawa-senyawa yang dihasilkan oleh tumbuhan darat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya aktivitas antioksidan di dalam ekstrak etanol Spons Ianthella basta dari perairan Desa Tumbak. Spons Ianthella basta diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH dengan konsentrasi 100 µg/mL, 75 µg/mL, 50 µg/mL, dan 25 µg/mL dan Vitamin C p.a sebagai kontrol positif. Masing-masing sampel dibuat tiga kali pengulangan uji. Pengujian menggunakan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ektrak etanol Spons Ianthella basta memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan persentase sebesar 48,73% pada konsentrasi 100 µg/mL. Kata Kunci: Spons Ianthella basta, Antioksidan, Ekstraksi, DPPH

ABSTRACT Gotu Kola Leaf (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) are known to contain flavonoid compound, and flavonoid are known to decrease blood glucose level by stimulating pancreas beta cells to produce insulin. The aim of this research is to find out wether the ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) has the antidiabetic effectiveness or not. This research used Completely Randomized Design method. There were 15 rats used in this research that were split into 5 groups that is negative control (Aquadest), positive control (Metformin), and ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf with the dosage of 5.4 mg;10.8 mg;21.6 mg. The acquired data were analyzed with ANOVA test and LSD test. The analysis result showed that ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf had antidiabetic effectiveness against male white rat. Keywords:  Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) diketahui mengandung zat flavonoid, dimana flavonoid telah diketahui mempunyai kemampuan menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dengan merangsang sel beta pankreas untuk memproduksi insulin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol daun pegagan memiliki efekivitas antidiabetes. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Tikus yang digunakan sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi dalam 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (aquadest), kontrol positif (metformin), dan ekstrak etanol daun pegagan dengan dosis 5,4 mg; 10,8 mg; 21,6 mg. Data yang ada dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA dan uji LSD. Hasil analisis menujukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun pegagan memiliki efektivitas antidiabetes terhadap tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus). Kata kunci: Centella asiatica (L.)
