This article addresses the question of whether the visibility of specific brands in large cities always supports the economic success of the firms to which they belong. The author discusses the issue—which borders on sociology, psychology, and practical wisdom about marketing activities—in the light of four theoretical concepts. The first is George Frank’s idea of the ‘economy of attention’, wherein attention is a good, which, contrary to other economic resources, does not have a substitute and is very hard to replace with anything else. The second concerns the type of audience reached by the visual marketing messages presented in cities. The third perspective is related to the concept of the ‘culture of distraction’, whose characteristic trait is the problem that individuals have in concentrating their attention on one object for a longer period of time. The fourth plane on which answers are sought is how the issue of visibility is overlooked in marketing campaigns. The key idea for this part of the analysis is Henry Jenkins’ spreadability’. In conclusion, the author ponders the case of an ad campaign appealing to a sense other than that of sight. In this regard the author refers to the osmosociological perspective described by Marek S. Szczepański and Weronika Ślęzak-Tazbir, among others.

The advancement in technology is influencing the ways in which organizations conduct business and marketing activities. Mobile Marketing has become one of the most widespread media to communicate with potential and existing customers mainly in the form of text advertisements through the internet. This study is aimed at finding out the receiving and action-oriented attitudes of the youth towards mobile marketing, particularly the rate at which the youth use mobile marketing to determine the propensity to be influenced in their actions. The study also investigated the factors affecting consumer attitudes and their relationship with mobile marketing. The study employed descriptive and exploratory research methodology design and the data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Four hundred (400) questionnaires were administered to young people between the ages of 18 and 35 years in Accra and Three hundred and fifty 350 were used. We found a high rate of youth’s preference for mobile marketing messages and a relationship between youth attitude and mobile marketing messages and/or the youth’s attitude being influenced by mobile marketing messages. Finally, it revealed that there is a relationship between the youth’s receiving and action-oriented attitude and consumer factors that influence the use of mobile marketing.

This introductory chapter presents the aims and focus of this book: to explore current encounters between citizens and welfare staff and to investigate the effects of principles from the bureaucracy, values from the market and norms from the field of psychology on these welfare encounters. Such norms and principles are understood as immensely powerful, as they urge the use of specific resources/capitals, are agenda setting, and may even be attractive for both the welfare professionals and the citizens. The chapter briefly introduces its key theoretical concepts (‘welfare state’, ‘power’, and ‘professions’) before discussing relevant developments in current welfare states such as The Third Way, the move from government to governance, etc. and how these impact the welfare encounter.

Institutions, similar to other human and social undertakings, emerge and evolve following different social dynamics. The third chapter aims to discover some of the mechanisms behind smooth institutional transformations and the main elements and characteristics of institutional change. The first part makes an overview of the neo-institutional schools and their considerations for institutional change. The second part defines the basic elements of institutional change, including the analysis of exogenous and endogenous processes and characteristics. The third part outlines the agency view of institutional change and proposes an analysis of theoretical concepts of institutional entrepreneurship, institutional work and proto-institutions, the types, processes, and stages of institutional transformation. Based on that, in the discussion part, there is presented a model defining how new technology can affect institutional change combining micro and macro perspective and social actors. Finally, there are analyzed the main criteria for successful transformation of the institutionalization process.

It is the goal of management to overcome and delete uncertainty. Uncertainty is seen as an obstacle and threat for successful management. However projects are full of uncertainty. Successful project management therefore aims to overcome and ideally delete uncertainty as far as possible. In project management, uncertainty and risk are often used synonymously. Current project management methodology contains only technics how to manage risk in projects. The assessment of risks is based on the precondition of stable conditions and the idea that the influencing parameters are known, assessable and calculable. Since more than 2,000 years it is the aim of the Western cultures to master the nature by natural sciences and mathematics. In the last three centuries of Modern Philosophy the perspective developed that analytical scientific know how (episteme) and technical skills (techne) can master any kind of complexity and risk. The third traditional Aristotelian competence, the practical wisdom (phronesis) however was perceived as not acknowledgeable.

This interdisciplinary analysis uses concepts of voice and polyphony both as visible, audible and understandable means of expression and as abstract analytical categories for the interpretation of music videos. The study combines abstract concepts of voice from music, media, literary and cultural studies, and linguistics with an analysis of the orchestration of the voice in the audiovisual form of music videos. The book has three parts: The first part highlights theories of voices and polyphony. The second part consists of the audiovisual transcription of a music video (‘Verliebt’ by the German rap group Antilopen Gang) by means of the online transcription tool trAVis. The third part offers an interpretation of the music video, joining the transcription with the theoretical concepts and the methodological approaches based on polyphony. This music video serves as an exhaustive test of ‘polyphony’ as a theoretical and methodological background against which one can interpret audiovisual material.

At present, the theoretical concepts of the hydrogen bond (H-bond) in condensed media, for example, in living systems, biomolecules, are not fully solved. Quantum chemical modeling is used as one of the methods for studying the nature and determining the strength of the H-bond. In this paper, we continue to study the system of hydrogen bonds in molecular crystals of alanine and tyrosine. The dimers of these amino acids were modeled using the DFT method using the B97D functional with bases 6-31++G**. In the framework of NBO analysis, the stabilization energies of the formed hydrogen bond and the value of the transferred charge are calculated. It is shown that in alanine dimers, the main factor affecting the h-bond stabilization energy is the geometric parameters and, first of all, (N-H...O). The binding σ-orbital of the hydrogen bond is the result of the interaction of a hybrid NBO of the lone electron pairs of an oxygen atom and a loosening σ*-NBO N−H bond. The nature of bond formation in all three cases is the same, and the charge transfer value is greater than the value of the bond criterion, which indicates the presence of hydrogen bonds in all analyzed alanine systems. In tyrosine dimers, two H-bonds are formed that are similar in nature, as well as in geometric and energy parameters. The third H-bond is very weak, and the amount of charge transfer indicates its absence. The main interaction between the molecules in the third tyrosine dimer is the H-bond between the –СОО− and –OH groups. It was found that the scheme of formation of hydrogen bonds in molecular crystals of tyrosine is somewhat different from that of alanine.

This study dealt with the impact of military expenditures on some economic and social indicators by examining the damage and losses in many civilian sectors. On the other hand, the research referred to the experiences of some selected countries in the possibility of re-directing military expenditures to aspects of development of an economic and social nature and possibility Benefit from those experiences in Iraq. Accordingly, the study was divided into three axes, in addition to the introduction and conclusion. The first axis dealt with studying the most important concepts related to military spending, while the second axis was with regard to damage and losses formed as a result of conflicts and wars, and the third axis related to the experiences of some development countries and the involvement of their armies in civilian investments, and the possibility of benefiting from these experiences and the possibility of resettling them in Iraq. The research started from the hypothesis that the duality of the impact of military expenditures on the path of economic and social variables makes the means of settling them in the economies of peace with permanent economic and social feasibility for sustainable development. Finally, the research included a conclusion and some conclusions and recommendations, the most important of which was that Iraq had witnessed many wars and conflicts, which led to the depletion of huge amounts of its economic resources, which led to the depletion of many economic and human resources as a direct result of the wars, while the main recommendation was that it was necessary to allocate a part. From military spending to serve the civil sector by involving the army in investing in stalled and stalled projects and reconstruction projects in the liberated cities.

With the appearance of advanced and mature wireless and mobile technologies, more and more people are embracing mobile “things” as part of their everyday lives. New business opportunities are emerging with the birth of a new type of commerce known as mobile commerce or m-commerce. M-commerce is an extension to electronic commerce (e-commerce) with new capabilities. As a result, marketing activities in m-commerce are different from traditional commerce and e-commerce. This chapter will discuss marketing strategies for m-commerce. First we will give some background knowledge about m-commerce. Then we will discuss the pull, push, and viral models in m-marketing. The third part will be the discussion about the future developments in mobile marketing. The last part will provide a summary of this article.
