Cesarean section is a surgical intervention that most significantly affects the central nervous system and slows down bowel movements post section Caesarea. Intestinal function in women undergoing section caesarian surgery is essential, starting early. The study aimed at examining the effect of chewing gum on increasing the intestinal peristalsis in post-cesarean section. This study used a quasi-experimental, pre, and post with a control group was applied in this study. Seventy-two samples were recruited using a non-probability sampling such as consecutive sampling. CG was given to the intervention group 3 times, per 3 hours for 5 minutes with a frequency of chewing 30 times. Data analysis was performed and presented in descriptive statistics, and significant findings were computed using the paired t-test. The results showed that the mean Intestine Peristaltic intervention group increases from 11,47+1,647 to 16,61+2,487 after the intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the mean Intestine Peristaltic level slightly increases from 11,31+1,470 to 14,22+1,290. The t-test obtained a p-value of 0.000, indicating that there were significant differences in the increase Intestine Peristaltic between the intervention and the control group. Chewing gum can increase intestinal peristalsis in cesarean section patients. Based on the findings, The nurse profession can use chewing gum to become one of the nursing independent interventions because easy. Keywords: cesarean section, peristaltic, chewing gum.

Background : Hypertension is a condition of high blood pressure in the arteries that lasted continuously for the long term. Hypertension can be overcome in two ways: pharmacology and non-pharmacology. Pharmacology treatment usually use medicine while one of the ways for non-pharmacology treatment is to consumes apple juice.Research Objective : The aim of this research is to know the effect of apple juice on blood pressure decrease in elderly people with hypertension at Muara Kaman Community Health Center.Methods : The design of this research used quasi experimental design (quasi experiment) with pretest posttest control group design. The sample of the research was hypertensive respondents at Muara Kaman Community Health Center as many as 30 respondents were divided into 2 groups, 15 intervention groups and 15 control groups. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instruments were stethoscope and sphygmomanometer, data analysis using t test dependent and t test independent.Results : There were a significant influence between pretest and posttest of apple juice in the intervention group (P value = 0,000; P <0.005). The mean difference in systolic blood pressure in the intervention group and the control group also had significant differences (P value = 0.002; P <0.05), where as the mean difference in diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group and the control group also had significant differences (P value = 0,039; P <0,05).The Conclusions : The results of this research showed that consumes apple juice gives an effect on the blood pressure of hypertensive patients by consumes regularly.The Suggestions : Nurses and the public can use apple juice as one of the ways to handling to hypertension sufferers besides antihypertensive drugs.

Laparotomy is one of the major surgeries. Laparotomy is an operative technique that can be performed on digestive and urinary sistem disorders that will cause pain. This study aims to determine thes effects of kinesio taping on the level of pains in post laparotomy patients. The methods of this study use a pre-post and control group quasi experimental design research. Consisting of the intervention group and the control group, the number of sample was 24 samples with 12 respondent in the kinesio taping installation intervention group and 12 respondent in the control group giving standar drug, using a simple random sampling technique. Dependent t-test obtained an average difference of 2.08 in the control group while ansaveragesdifferencesof 3.84 insthe intervention group. Independent T test results obtained P value (0.001)<(0.05). The conclusion there was assignificant difference in the level of pain in the kinesio taping intervention group and the control group that did not have kinesio taping. Variable confounding has been performed statistically. The results shows that here is no relationships between age, attitude and belief in the pain of Laparotomy, while age is related to post-Laparotomy pain, kinesio taping can be used as an independent nursing intervention to reduce the intensity of pain in post-Laparotomy patients.

Introduction: Stress among teachers has a significant relationship with the psychosomatic and depressive symptoms. Community nurses need to make efforts in preventing the adverse effects of stress on teachers. Progressive muscle relaxation with music and aromatherapy is an alternative intervention which can be practiced to reduce the level of stress among teachers. This study aimed to investigate the effects of progressive muscle relaxation which was combined with music and aromatherapy on decreasing the level of stress in teachers.Methods:This study employed a pre-post test quasi-experimental design with a control group. The samples were 46 teachers recruited by purposive sampling and were assigned to the intervention group (n=23) and the control group (n=23). The intervention of progressive muscle relaxation with music and aromatherapy was given to the intervention group for four sessions in four days; each session lasted for 20 minutes. The data were analyzed using the t-test to know the effects of the intervention on decreasing the stress level.Results:The results showed that the average level of stress of the teachers in the intervention group decreased from 50.65 ± 3.761 to 32.78 ± 8.426 after the intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the average stress level slightly decreased from 49.87 ± 3.348 to 49.17 ± 4.868. The result of the t-test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (<0.,05), indicating that there were significant differences in the stress levels between the intervention and the control group.Conclusion:Progressive muscle relaxation with music and aromatherapy could reduce the level of stress in school teachers. Based on the findings, it is recommended that the school teachers perform this relaxation therapy to decrease the stress level. The teachers could practice the therapy by the help of training from the community nurses.

Background: Hope has an essential role in the recovery journey for people with schizophrenia. Current studies showed that people with schizophrenia reported having low hope. There is growing evidence that mindfulness has favorable effects on mental health in populations with chronic illness, including people with schizophrenia. However, the studies evaluating effects of mindfulness on hope and recovery for people with schizophrenia are limited.Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of mindfulness on hope and recovery among people with schizophrenia.Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out on 54 patients with schizophrenia based on purposive sampling in a psychiatric hospital in Indonesia. The respondents were divided into two groups with 27 patients each in the intervention and the control group. The intervention group received 2-session mindfulness, while the control group received standard care. The data were collected using the demographic questionnaire, the Schizophrenia Hope Scale (SHS-9), and Recovery Assessment Scale (RAS), and analyzed using the Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: After mindfulness therapy, the intervention group showed a higher mean score of hope than the control group (14.30±2.50 and 9.04±2.15, respectively) as well as in the mean of recovery (86.78±4.00 and 73.56±6.04, respectively). There were significant differences in hope and recovery levels between the two groups with p-value <0.001.Conclusion: This study showed that mindfulness is an effective strategy to stimulate hope and recovery among people with schizophrenia. Nurses can apply mindfulness as one of the nursing interventions for helping the recovery process among this population.

Honey contains complex nutrients including vitamins A, C, E, B and flavonoids which play a role in suppressing oxidative stress. This study aimed to determine the effect of honey and Fe on body weight and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels of anemia pregnant women. The type of this study was quasi-experimental with the pretest-posttest design. Data analysis using paired t-test and independent samples test. After implementation the average value of the intervention group was 2.30 ± 0.50 while the average value of the control group was 2.00 ± 0.20 which showed that there was an effect of giving honey + Fe and Fe to the weight of anemic pregnant women. Whereas the statistical test results of the independent samples test showed p> 0.05 (p = 0.307) which means that there was no significant difference between the administration of honey + Fe (intervention) and Fe (control). In the melondialdehyde (MDA) variable there was a decrease in the intervention group by 8.86 ± 2.78 with the paired t-test obtained p value 0.002, this indicates there is an effect of giving honey + Fe to malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. The average value in the control group was 0.92 ± 0.07 with the paired t-test p value of 0.653 indicating no effect of Fe on Melondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Based on the test of the independent samples test obtained p value 0.004 (α <0.05). Conclusion: administration of honey + Fe effectively reduces malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and increases the weight of anemic pregnant women.

Arthritis Rheumatoid (AR) is an autoimmune disease showing erosive of symmetric joint. It sometimes refers to many systems disturbances inside our bodies. The progressivity of AR has chronic fluctuation in daily life. AR can increase mortality risk, especially for chronic disabilities. This study aims to understand the effect of warm compress on the pain intensity of AR cases for elderly people. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental one. The sampling method used was a purposive technique. The total number of respondents was 10, with 5 as the interventional arm of the study and 5 as the control arm. This study was conducted between February and July 2014. A paired t-test was used to identify whether the sample means for those in the intervention arm was statistically different from the average of the sample means drawn from those drawn from the control group presumed to be from the general elderly population who do not benefit from the particular intervention of a warm compress. What the author wanted to conclude on was whether the two samples at hand actually differ significantly from each other. The intensity of pre- and post-intervention using parametric statistics following the application of warm compress was noted and used as a basis of comparison. The result of the statistics formula showed the effectiveness of warm compress in decreasing the AR pain, the t-test was 6.000 and the p-value was lower than 0.05. It can be summarized that warm compress can be used to decrease pain intensity for elderly people with AR. Discussion – the result of this study can be used as a reference to conduct care among elder people who are affected by AR. People living in the community area should help their family member with AR on first aid.

Introduction: The effect of mothers' group discussion on the level of knowledge and practice of adolescent girls about puberty health in public high schools in Ghaemieh in 2019. Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental interventional study with a pre-test-post-test design with the control group. In this study, two schools were randomly selected and 40 students from each school were selected as a sample. Group discussion sessions with the mothers participated in a circular manner were held during 4 sessions for each intervention group once a week for 40 minutes for a month. In this study, the standard questionnaire of Alizadeh Cherandabi et al (2014) was used to measure the knowledge and performance of the students. T-test was used to compare the mean scores of variables before and after the intervention. All statistical operations were performed by SPSS Version 16 software and the significance level was considered P <0.05. Results: The results of independent t-test showed that before the intervention, the mean scores of knowledge and practice about puberty health were not significantly different between the two groups (P> 0.05). The intervention was significantly higher than the control group (P <0.05).  Conclusion: The analysis of the findings of this study confirmed the effectiveness of education through group discussion in promoting the knowledge and practice of adolescent girls about physical puberty health.  Therefore, officials, health educators and school counselors are advised to hold regular training sessions as a group discussion for mothers of teenage girls

Background: Academic stress is a major problem that often occurs in nursing students. Islamic spiritual mindfulness (ISM) is an adaptive coping strategy used to mitigate various negative psychological reactions to respond stressors experienced by the body to build self-awareness that any problems experienced today are the scenario of Allah.Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effects of Islamic spiritual mindfulness therapy to reduce stress.Methods: This study used a pre-post quasi-experimental design with a control group. Participants were bachelor students of nursing who are Muslim and experienced stress in working on the thesis (n=36) and were assigned to two groups: the experimental group receiving Islamic spiritual mindfulness and the control group. Data were collected using questionnaires of Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and analyzed using paired t-test and unpaired t-test.  Results: The results showed that the mean stress level of students in the intervention group decreased from 20.6±2.97 to 11.4±5.81 after the intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the mean student stress level slightly decreased from 19.7±2.82 to 17.8±5.01. The t-test obtained a p-value of 0.001, indicating that there were significant differences in stress levels between the intervention group and the control group. The effect size obtained the value of 0.59, meaning the level of influence was in the medium category.Conclusion: This study concluded that Islamic spiritual mindfulness was effective in reducing stress among nursing students working on the thesis. It is recommended for the nursing profession, especially mental health nurses, to apply Islamic spiritual mindfulness therapy as one of the psychotherapy interventions.

Background: One of the disorders experienced by gout arthritis sufferers is pain in the joints. Joint pain in patients with gouty arthritis occurs due to deposits of monosodiumuric crystals that accumulate in the joints as a result of high levels of gout arthritis in the blood. One of the interventions that can be given to reduce the pain scale in sufferers of gouty arthritis is the administration of warm cinnamon compresses. The essential oil in cinnamon bark contains eugenol, where eugenol has a very hot and spicy taste so it can open the skin's pores. So that pain can be reduced with the warm cinnamon compress. Purpose: The effect of the warm cinnamon compress aims to determine the benefits of the warm cinnamon compress to reduce the pain scale in sufferers of gout arthritis. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre and post control group approach. The sample in this study amounted to 50 respondents, the sample was taken by stratified random. Results: The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that the p value in the control group was 0.850 and the intervention group obtained a p value of 0.000. The results of the Paired T-test showed that the p value in the control group was 0.594 and the intervention group obtained a p value of 0.000. Independent T-test results obtained p value 0.000 <0.05, meaning that there is an effect of warm cinnamon compresses on reducing pain in patients with gout arthritis before and after giving warm cinnamon compresses between the intervention group and the control group. Conclusion: The warm cinnamon compress has an effect on reducing the pain scale in people with gouty arthritis. Keywords: gout arthritis, pain, cinnamon warm compress

Background: Cesarean section (CS) is the most significant surgical intervention that affects the central nervous system and that slows down the bowel movement after CS. Intervention in the early period after CS is needed to improve bowel function. This study aims to determine the effect of early mobilization on intestinal peristalsis after cesarean section.Method: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 72 patients divided into two groups of 36 for the intervention group at Dewi Sartika Public Hospital and for the control group at Kendari Public Hospital. A paired T-test was used for the data analysis.Result: After the intervention, there was a significant improvement in intestinal peristalsis in the intervention group (P<0,05).Conclusion: Early mobilization is an effective intervention to improve intestinal peristalsis in patients after cesarean section.
