This article considers creative activity as a form of social integration of children and adolescents with disabilities. Creative activity is considered in the context of innovative humane activity with people with disabilities, in the process of which it is proposed to use art therapy as a method of personal self-regulation and for the purpose of interaction between participants. In an empirical study, A. Kalinicheva identified the possibilities of equal partnership in the process of creative theatrical activity between actors with different abilities in a heterogeneous group. The research methods were: the case study method, the method of included observation, conversation, semistructured interviews with parents of participants with intellectual disabilities and interviews with 26 actors of the group. It wasrevealed that a mixed creative group is a model of social integration of people with disabilities, which becomes a prerequisite for destigmatizing a person with intellectual disabilities.

This study examines how professionals contend with threats to self-regulation from social movements outside the profession by providing an analysis of rule development by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy. A case study method using interviews, observations, and content analysis examines how pharmacists and pro-choice groups affected a “pharmacists’ responsibility” rule dictating whether pharmacists can refuse to dispense medications they morally oppose. Findings suggest that movements can influence rulemaking by framing professional responsibilities and enlisting allies, thereby turning a relatively closed process of self-regulation into a contentious one, resulting in a settlement that favors the movement over the profession.

Abstract This study explores the collective settings of Hallenwohnen (hall dwelling) as a section of the Zollhaus settlement, which is the follow-up project by the Kalkbreite housing cooperative and has been in function since January 2021 in Zurich, Switzerland. Hallenwohnen is the first legal hall cohousing arrangement in Switzerland. The private and semiprivate spaces of Hallenwohnen consist of a large open hall with collective basic structures and mobile residential towers (roll spaces) as the core concept, which offer an affordable, self-managed/self-build, collaborative coliving and coworking arrangement in the center of Zurich. The qualitative case study method was applied through semistructured interviews with occupants of Hallenwohnen, direct observations, spatial investigations and document analyses. The results reveal that the innovative socio-spatial potentials of the intermediate spaces have been activated through the participatory intentions of the community. Living as one household in a collective arrangement and multiplicity usage of hybrid spaces have activated participation-capable housing spaces, while constraints and conflicts have mobilized the (re)negotiations and reinterpretations of collective housing spaces.

The article and the research presented in it are an attempt to resolve the creative crisis observed in students of grades 4-7 of primary school. The author tries to reawaken creative activity and the joy of creation by involving all students of the above-mentioned classes in a group art project. The task is to paint an abstract "Monumental Picture" together. The article is a description of the author's own research carried out on a non-homogeneous group of students using the case study method.

Zusammenfassung Der vorliegende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Entscheidung von mittelständischen Unternehmen, zusätz­liche Mitarbeiter einzustellen und mit der Frage, unter welchen Bedingungen die Ausweitung der Geschäftstätigkeit eine solche Entscheidung veranlasst. Das diesbezügliche Entscheidungsverhalten ist bislang wenig erforscht. Im Vordergrund der Untersuchung steht die Frage, wie sich in den überschaubaren und wenig formalen Verhältnissen, die typisch für mittelständische Unternehmen sind, Entscheidungsfindung und Entscheidungsumsetzung zueinander verhalten, ob sie sich überhaupt klar voneinander abheben, welche Rückkopplungsbeziehungen existieren und welcher Handlungslogik sie folgen. Als theoretische Grundlage dient ein handlungstheoretischer Ansatz, der den kollektiven Charakter der Beschäftigungsentscheidung herausstellt. Die empirische Untersuchung bedient sich der Fallstudienmethode und befasst sich mit der Rekonstruktion von Entscheidungsprozessen in elf mittelständischen Unternehmen. Abstract The present article deals with the decisions of medium-sized companies to hire additional employees and with the question under which conditions the expansion of business activities leads to such a decision. In particular, this paper discusses the relationship between making and executing employment decisions. To analyze this relationship we present a theoretical approach which accentuates the collective character of the organizational decision making process. The empirical study uses the case study method. It undertakes the reconstruction of the employment decisions in eleven companies.

PurposeThis paper aims to report on signs of public awareness and empowerment among the general public that are presumed to determine the viability of the smart contracting (SC) approach and identifies prevailing concerns regarding individual transactional experiences.Design/methodology/approachA mixed approach was followed to explore perceptions of self-regulation and transaction friendliness by using an interpretative multiple case study method and by presenting a descriptive summative analysis of the data.FindingsOn self-regulation, the study reveals spread awareness, empowerment, contractual competences and responsibility. Regarding transaction friendliness, subject matter influences transaction experiences the most, and trust and engagement are the most problematic factors. The findings support the viability of SC, endorsing the application of proactive perspectives in legal and managerial practice.Research limitations/implicationsThe study confirms the foundational assumptions of SC, identifies key transactional issues that should be further addressed to improve the functionality of digital trade environments and contributes to the consolidation of the legal design research field on transaction usability.Practical implicationsThe findings point to the viability of SC. Organizations and practitioners are given indications on transaction upgrade priorities and invited to adopt and help disseminate the proposal.Social implicationsThe expansion of a collaborative transactional culture can reduce legal disputes, improving the legal environment of business and strengthening private governance regulatory models.Originality/valueThis is the first empirical study on the viability conditions of the SC-approach, identifying transactional usability testing and intervention priorities.

The aim of this study was to determine the direction and intensity of high school graduates’ attitudes towards social integration of persons with intellectual disability and examine correlation between certain characteristics of the subjects and their attitudes. The sample consisted of 95 high school graduates from ˮDušan Vasiljevˮ secondary school in Kikinda. The direction and intensity of attitudes was examined by the Community Living Attitudes Scale – Mental Retardation Form (CLAS-MR; Henry, Keys, Jopp, & Balcazar, 1996), while the data related to race, gender, previous experience of contact with people with disabilities and interests of career dealing with this population were obtained through the questionnaire for testing socio-demographic variables constructed for this survey.The results showed that the attitudes of graduates towards social integration of people with intellectual disability are positive on the scale in general, and three of the four domains of the applied instrument. Our respondents expressed a positive attitude towards the empowerment of these people, their involvement in the community's activities and experiencing these people to themselves. The respondents expressed a negative attitude through the perceived need of people with intellectual disabilities to be placed in protected living and working conditions, beyond the wider community. Connection between the attitudes to gender, previous experience of contact, close contact with people with disabilities and interest for professional work with persons with disabilities was not established.Bearing in mind the presumption about the influence of attitudes towards the behavior of a particular social group, the knowledge of attitudes and their determinants in young people towards this population, on the threshold of their entry into adulthood, can provide useful guidance for planning and implementing practical procedures with the aim of a higher quality integration of people with intellectual disabilities into the community in the future.

Disaster resilience is vital to everyone, including people with disabilities. However, teaching people with disabilities requires special techniques, and there is scant literature in the area. This case study designs and implements disaster preparedness training at a school for children with intellectual disabilities in Padang, Indonesia, an area prone to earthquakes and tsunamis. The training utilizes a blended learning approach called ‘Monster VIPs’ that combines various learning methods such as storytelling, posters, videos, puzzles, and disaster simulations to facilitate students to understand disasters responses. The training involves university teachers and disaster preparedness volunteers (Taruna Siaga Bencana/TAGANA) of the city’s social services.

The controversy over self-regulation has been a central topic of inquiry in sociological research on occupational misconduct and crime. However, few studies have examined the process by which organizational members decide whether to respond to the misconduct of peers, and none have examined the use of neutralization techniques by rule enforcers in organizational settings. The research presented here is based on a case study of the U.S. Naval Academy. Three data sources are analyzed: Survey data collected from Academy midshipmen, semistructured interviews with graduates, and official statistics on occupational misconduct. Findings reveal that Academy members employ a number of neutralization techniques depending on whether they counsel peers, report peers, or choose not to respond to misconduct. Midshipmen who counsel are appealing to peer loyalty, while those who report wrongdoing find themselves neutralizing the effects of violating informal norms about peer loyalty. In contrast, those who ignore misconduct must neutralize the potential effects of betraying loyalty to the institution. In addition to calling for the expansion of neutralization techniques research to include rule enforcers, the implications of this study suggest that the concept be refined to examine the impact of conflicting loyalties on the types of neutralization techniques employed in systems of self-regulation.

A qualitative study was conducted using a case study method of young people showing excessive activity in the virtual world. A qualitative analysis of research results was carried out, which was presented in the methodological part of the article.

Purpose This study examined caregiver perceptions of their child's language and literacy disorder as influenced by communications with their speech-language pathologist. Method The participants were 12 caregivers of 10 school-aged children with language and literacy disorders. Employing qualitative methods, a collective case study approach was utilized in which the caregiver(s) of each child represented one case. The data came from semistructured interviews, codes emerged directly from the caregivers' responses during the interviews, and multiple coding passes using ATLAS.ti software were made until themes were evident. These themes were then further validated by conducting clinical file reviews and follow-up interviews with the caregivers. Results Caregivers' comments focused on the types of information received or not received, as well as the clarity of the information. This included information regarding their child's diagnosis, the long-term consequences of their child's disorder, and the connection between language and reading. Although caregivers were adept at describing their child's difficulties and therapy goals/objectives, their comments indicated that they struggled to understand their child's disorder in a way that was meaningful to them and their child. Conclusions The findings showed the value caregivers place on receiving clear and timely diagnostic information, as well as the complexity associated with caregivers' understanding of language and literacy disorders. The findings are discussed in terms of changes that could be made in clinical practice to better support children with language and literacy disorders and their families.
