The article deals with changes in ethnic structure in 13 political units of the North and the South Caucasus resulting from societal processes going on after the last 1989 Soviet census and illustrated by the outcome of censuses held in 1999–2005. The study deals with changes in population share of titular groups, Russians and other ethnic groups, with changing urbanization level and general regional population growth. It also makes an assessment of substantial changes in the ethnic structure in selected territories in connection with political and economical factors influencing the post-1989 development of the region and its ethno-territorial entities.

The article presents the results of the analysis of factors influencing the development of the Mazowieckie Province (Masovia) in the years 2007–2016. Data for the study were collected from the Central Statistical Office and Statistical Yearbooks of the Mazowieckie Province. The results indicate that the level of development of Masovia is considerably higher than of other provinces in the country. At the end of the analyzed period, in Masovia the GDP per capita was almost twice as high as the national average. Masovia held the highest share in Poland’s GDP (22%). Important factors positively affecting the development of Masovia are: positive population growth and improving demographic situation, and broad access to telecommunications. Additional factors of the dynamic Masovia’s development are: extensive transportation infrastructure (104.3 km per 100 km2) and high number of students (236.5 thousand) and college graduates (60.8 thousand) who constitute the future substantive resources of the province’s economy.

The world's population growth, increasing urbanization and rising standards of living are some of the factors influencing waste generation in Malaysia. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect primary data of the randomly selected 100 households. These households were provided with five (5)polythene bags to separate their daily wastes during the period of fourteen (14) days. The researcher visits each household in the evening to collect the polythene bags. A sample size, adequate to estimate the value with adequate precision was calculated from three residential neighborhoods (low, medium and high cost) The rate of waste generated from recyclable items are 45.51% (1,201.61 kg), followed by food wastes with 33.98% (897.18 kg) and non-recyclable items with 20.51% (541.54 kg). Therefore, the aim of this paper is to understand the waste generation and waste composition in relation to the willingness of the households and the objective are (i) to establish the nature of the waste generation and composition per/day; and (ii) to identify the current stakeholders involved in recycling material. The results clearly show that 96% of respondents are willing to participate in any program for waste minimization. This also indirectly indicates the lifestyle of the household.

This study was conducted to determine the role of some micro-ecological factors influencing the population dynamics of schistosomiasis intermediate host snails in the water bodies of Khartoum State, Sudan. The results show that the air and water temperature play a significant role in the determination of snail growth, a gradual increase of air and water temperate causing an increase in the snail population growth rate with the peak in summer. Water of high turbidity and high current speed caused a drop in the snail population. Vegetation cover in water bodies showed a significant effect on the snail population, the denser the cover the higher the snail population growth rate.
