In many real-world situations, performers always adopt different energy levels (strategies) to participate. Different from pre-existing results, this paper is devoted to proposing several generalized power outputs of the marginal index, the Banzhaf–Coleman index, and the Banzhaf–Owen index, respectively, by assigning different energy levels to all performers. Since these extended power outputs may not be efficacious, we further define the efficacious extensions of these power outputs, respectively. For each of these efficacious power outputs, we demonstrate that there exists a corresponding reduced game and related consonance property that can be used to characterize it. By focusing on the properties of symmetry and accordance, several axiomatic results are also introduced.

Abstract Background The IBD Disability Index (IBD-DI) is a validated health care professional (HCP) administered tool that can assess the functional status of patients in trials. The IBD-Disk was adapted from the IBD-DI as a tool that patients can use to capture their functional status for HCPs to review. We report patient acceptability and use of the IBD-disk in the real-world setting. Methods The IBD-Disk was constructed by an expert steering committee of international gastroenterologists/nurses who ranked the IBD-DI items. A modified Delphi process was used to agree on 10 IBD-Disk items. It was administered in outpatient clinics to patients across NHS hospitals. Inclusion criteria comprised patients aged 18 and over, of all ethnicities, with a confirmed diagnosis of IBD. Exclusion criteria were lack of fluency in English, not agreeable to take part or participation was deemed inappropriate. Patients were asked to rate their level of agreement for each item on the IBD Disk on a visual analogue scale of 0–10 (0 = absolutely NO, 10 = definitely YES). We included a difficulty rating of 1–10 to assess ease of completion of the questionnaire (1 = very easy; 10 = very difficult) as well as qualitative feedback. Results A total of 377 patients agreed to take part. The mean age of the cohort was 42 years. Two hundred and twenty-one were female (59 %). 287 were White. One hundred and ninety-nine patients had CD, 159 UC, the remaining unknown. Of the domains of the IBD Disk (see Figure), energy levels, sleep and joint pain scored highest (most impairing) with mean values of 5.68, 4.85 and 4.68, respectively, whereas interpersonal interactions and sexual functions were least affected, mean scores 2.51 and 2.81. The mean difficulty rating was 2.3 (SD = 2.29). Correlations were performed between abdominal pain and energy levels/sleep {r = 0.6 and r = 0.56)} and between joint pain and energy levels/sleep {r = 0.57 and r = 0.58). Clinicians highlighted that the IBD-disk opened up conversations beyond GI issues and gave a good overview of well-being. It facilitated discussion on sexual function and body image. Patients’ feedback highlighted that they were glad they were able to express their functional status and its severity. Conclusion Energy levels, sleep and joint pain were the most disabling for this unselected IBD cohort. This may help to focus the discussion in the clinic setting. Our experience with the IBD-Disk proved very positive with high patient acceptability.

BACKGROUND Fatigue is one of the most prominent and disabling symptoms reported by adult patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Also, stress is perceived as one of the leading causes of IBD flare-ups. Therapeutic guidelines call for effective disease assessment, early intervention, and personalized care using a treat-to-target approach which may be hard to achieve through typical time- and resource-constrained standard care. Providing patients with a digital therapeutic intervention incorporating helpful self-management features and patient support to complement standard care may be optimal for improving fatigue and reducing stress. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to perform an analysis of engagement and the preliminary effectiveness of a newly developed 16-week digital therapeutic intervention (SK-311, SK-321) for IBD patients. METHODS Adults with IBD were recruited for participation in a real-world, live, digital therapeutic intervention via Finnish IBD patient association websites and social media. No inclusion/exclusion criteria were applied for this study. Baseline characteristics were entered by participants upon signup. Platform engagement was measured by tracking participants' event logs. The outcome measures stress, energy levels (fatigue), and quality of sleep were reported by participants through the platform. RESULTS Out of 444 adults who registered for the digital therapeutic, 205 adults were included in an intention-to-treat (ITT) sample. The ITT participants, logged events on average 41 times per week (5.9 times/day) during the weeks in which they were active on the digital therapeutic platform. More women than men took part in the intervention (88.7%). The mean participant age was 40.3 years (standard deviation (SD) 11.5), and their mean body mass index was 27.9 (SD 6.0). Eighty people provided the required outcome measures during weeks 12-16 (completers). Analysis of the ITT sample showed significant improvements in ratings of stress (t(204) = 3.49; p < 0.01, percentage change = -9.52%), and energy levels (t(204) = -2.38; p < 0.05, percentage change = 4.60%). No significant difference was observed in quality of sleep (t(204) = -1.37; p = 0.173). For completers (n=80), significant improvements were observed for stress (t(79) = 4.57; p < 0.01, percentage change = -23.26%) and energy levels (t(79) = -2.44; p < 0.05, percentage change = 9.48%) but not for quality of sleep (t(79) = -1.32; p = 0.191). CONCLUSIONS These results indicate that a digital therapeutic intervention for IBD patients (SK-311, SK-321) has significant positive effects on patient-reported stress and energy levels in a real-world setting. These findings are promising and provide initial support for using the Sidekick Health digital therapeutic to supplement standard care for IBD patients.

Recently, game-theoretical methods have been adopted to analyze the reasonability of usability distribution mechanisms. On the other hand, sustainability has become a major conception among many fields by focusing on various influences that arose from environmental change, including usability distribution under multi-attribute sports management schemes. In many real-world situations, however, performers and its energy levels (strategies) should be essential factors simultaneously. Based on maximal-usability among energy level (strategy) vectors, we define an output, its efficacious extension and normalization to analyze usability distribution mechanisms under multi-attribute sports management schemes. We also adopt axiomatic processes to present the reasonability for these outputs. By considering reduced scheme and excess mapping, we adopt alternative formulation to offer dynamic processes for the efficacious extension and the normalization, respectively.

AbstractIf we want psychological science to have a meaningful real-world impact, it has to be trusted by the public. Scientific progress is noisy; accordingly, replications sometimes fail even for true findings. We need to communicate the acceptability of uncertainty to the public and our peers, to prevent psychology from being perceived as having nothing to say about reality.

AbstractA formal expansion of the CRM in powers of a small parameter is presented. The terms of the expansion are products of matrices. Inverses are interpreted as effects of cascades. It will be shown that this allows for the separation of the different contributions to the populations, thus providing a natural classification scheme for processes involving atoms in plasmas. Sum rules can be formulated, allowing the population of the levels, in some simple cases, to be related in a transparent way to the quantum numbers.

This article presents some streamlined and intentionally oversimplified ideas about educating future communication disorders professionals to use some of the most basic principles of evidence-based practice. Working from a popular five-step approach, modifications are suggested that may make the ideas more accessible, and therefore more useful, for university faculty, other supervisors, and future professionals in speech-language pathology, audiology, and related fields.

Qualitative case study research can be a valuable tool for answering complex, real-world questions. This method is often misunderstood or neglected due to a lack of understanding by researchers and reviewers. This tutorial defines the characteristics of qualitative case study research and its application to a broader understanding of stuttering that cannot be defined through other methodologies. This article will describe ways that data can be collected and analyzed.
