In this article, we have an explicit description of the binary isosahedral group as a 600-cell. We introduce a method to construct binary polyhedral groups as a subset of quaternions H via spin map of SO(3). In addition, we show that the binary icosahedral group in H is the set of vertices of a 600-cell by applying the Coxeter–Dynkin diagram of H4.

The goal of this article is to compare the geometrical structure of polytopes with 60 vertices, generated by the finite Coxeter group H 3, i.e. an icosahedral group in three dimensions. The method of decorating a Coxeter–Dynkin diagram is used to easily read the structure of the reflection-generated polytopes. The decomposition of the vertices of the polytopes into a sum of orbits of subgroups of H 3 is given and presented as a `pancake structure'.

In this article descriptions of angelic movement in the Twelfth Song are compared to descriptions of such activity arising from the throne of God in Ezekiel’s vision in Ezekiel 1 and 10, and to that in the Seventh Song as contained in scroll 4Q403. The penultimate Twelfth Song of the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice culminates in a more explicit description of angelic messenger activity and in other nuances. The Twelfth Song was intended to be read on the Sabbath immediately following Shavu’ot, when the traditional synagogue reading is Ezekiel 1 and Exodus 19–20. The possible significance for the author of Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice of the connection between the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai and Ezekiel’s vision where merkebah thrones and seats appear in the plural form is considered in the conclusion

Abstract Compactifications of the heterotic string on special Td/ℤ2 orbifolds realize a landscape of string models with 16 supercharges and a gauge group on the left-moving sector of reduced rank d + 8. The momenta of untwisted and twisted states span a lattice known as the Mikhailov lattice II(d), which is not self-dual for d > 1. By using computer algorithms which exploit the properties of lattice embeddings, we perform a systematic exploration of the moduli space for d ≤ 2, and give a list of maximally enhanced points where the U(1)d+8 enhances to a rank d + 8 non-Abelian gauge group. For d = 1, these groups are simply-laced and simply-connected, and in fact can be obtained from the Dynkin diagram of E10. For d = 2 there are also symplectic and doubly-connected groups. For the latter we find the precise form of their fundamental groups from embeddings of lattices into the dual of II(2). Our results easily generalize to d > 2.

AbstractLet $$\mathcal S$$ S be a single condition Schubert variety with an arbitrary number of strata. Recently, an explicit description of the summands involved in the decomposition theorem applied to such a variety has been obtained in a paper of the second author. Starting from this result, we provide an explicit description of the Poincaré polynomial of the intersection cohomology of $$\mathcal S$$ S by means of the Poincaré polynomials of its strata, obtaining interesting polynomial identities relating Poincaré polynomials of several Grassmannians, both by a local and by a global point of view. We also present a symbolic study of a particular case of these identities.

Abstract The cluster algebra of any acyclic quiver can be realized as the coordinate ring of a subvariety of a Kac–Moody group—the quiver is an orientation of its Dynkin diagram, defining a Coxeter element and thereby a double Bruhat cell. We use this realization to connect representations of the quiver with those of the group. We show that cluster variables of preprojective (resp. postinjective) quiver representations are realized by generalized minors of highest-weight (resp. lowest-weight) group representations, generalizing results of Yang–Zelevinsky in finite type. In type $A_{n}^{\!(1)}$ and finitely many other affine types, we show that cluster variables of regular quiver representations are realized by generalized minors of group representations that are neither highest- nor lowest-weight; we conjecture this holds more generally.

A new family of finite-dimensional modular Lie superalgebras Γ is defined. The simplicity and generators of Γ are studied and an explicit description of the derivation superalgebra of Γ is given. Moreover, it is proved that Γ is not isomorphic to any known Lie superalgebra of Cartan type.
