Senses are the primary channel by which travelers enjoy tourism, and the sensory experience of tourists is very important to the quality of their tourism experience. In this study, 385 questionnaires were distributed to tourists visiting the first batch of characteristic towns classified by the China National Forestry and Grassland Administration as national towns with forest characteristics. SPSS software was used for regression analysis to test the differences in the impact of sensory experience on the experience quality and future loyalty of forest town tourists. The results show that: (1) vision makes the highest contribution to the quality of tourist experience; (2) olfactory experience makes the lowest contribution to the quality of tourist experience and has no significant impact on it; (3) auditory experience has a significant impact on the quality of tourism experience but has no significant impact on the loyalty index. The study further confirms that, when a single sensory experience of tourists is insufficient, satisfaction can be achieved through the other senses. It is of great significance for forest town managers to design a sensory landscape according to the combined components of a destination’s characteristics and the tourists’ physical identities.

The functional value experience of family tourism has often been paid attention both by tourists themselves and the tourism industry, but the individual value experience of parents in family tourism has been neglected. Family tourism shifts the scenario of interpersonal interaction between families from home, the conventional environment, to a non-conventional one. This change in the interactive situation will inevitably bring about changes in interpersonal interaction behavior and individual perception, especially to tourists who take on the role of parents in a nuclear family. This study enriches the examination of the family tourism experience by exploring the interpersonal interaction, existential authenticity travel experiences, and quality of tourist experience perceived by parents in family tourism. The main findings are: 1) In the non-conventional environment of tourism, effective interaction between tourists and their families helps to improve tourists’ emotional experience and satisfaction; 2) Three aspects of existential authenticity are the internal causes of the impact of interpersonal interaction on emotional experience and satisfaction; 3) Differences in parental roles make important discrepancies between men and women’s perception of family tourism experiences. This study provides insights to understanding the family tourism market and brings valuable findings to the area of family tourism marketing and management.

With the increasing availability of information on the Internet, online rumours have become prevalent, and it is not uncommon for search engines to return unverified rumours about health. However, false information in such domains may lead to serious consequences if it gains users' trust. An understanding of the characteristics of online health rumours that users' trust is important for fighting their spread. Method. Using real-world online health rumour data from a Chinese database, the authors investigated the predictors of users' trust in online health rumours. An experiment (n = 30) and interviews (n = 10) were conducted to examine how users evaluate particular types of health rumours. Analysis. The effects of rumours' manner of presentation and the perceived information quality on users' trust were tested using ANOVA (with SPSS software) for the quantitative data collected in the experiment. The qualitative component applied content analysis of the interview data to further explain the results produced by the quantitative analysis. Results. The impact of pictures (one dimension of rumour presentation) on users' trust varies, depending on the perceived quality of the pictures displayed with the online health rumours, and informativeness (a dimension of information quality) is an influential predictor of trusting beliefs. Conclusions. The paper serves the aim of highly effective prediction of users' trust in online health rumours, and it contributes new insights for proactively evaluating the hazard level of a particular online health-rumour item.

This study aims to explore the economic impact, especially UMKM players in Banten on the spread of covid-19, and to identify the strength of entrepreneurial networks and the use of e-marketing by UMKM in Banten during the covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this study was analyzed by sampling using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. This questionnaire includes closed questions, measured on a nominal scale. The collected data were analyzed using the AMOS Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The results showed that there had been a decline in the marketing performance of UMKM due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. And it is proven that the quality of entrepreneurial networks and e-marketing can improve the marketing performance of UMKM. From this research, a model for strengthening UMKM in dealing with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is obtained by strengthening entrepreneurial networks and the use of e-marketing, so that UMKM in Banten in particular and UMKM in Indonesia in general, do not fall into business collapse caused by the spread of Covid-19. The conclusion of this study is expected to contribute to the development of management science, especially marketing, entrepreneurship and the development of UMKM in dealing with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Insurance plays an important role in the tourism experience, but there has been little research on the impact of insurance on visual attention to risk and landscape. I employed an eye-tracking experiment to record the risk information and assessment of the visual quality of landscapes among participants with differing travel insurance statuses. The results show that in comparison to the control group, participants lacking insurance paid greater visual attention to risk information and participants with insurance paid less visual attention to risk information. Further, participants with (vs. without) insurance were better at landscape visual quality assessment. My results can be used by potential tourists seeking to improve the quality of their travel experiences and by managers seeking to promote tourism risk management. In addition, my results show that eye-tracking experiments can be widely applied to related tourism research.

Abstract This exploratory study investigates the impact of technology on the tourist experience. This research analyzed the effect of new technologies on the behaviour of new tourism consumers, the importance of mobile technology in the tourism industry, and the phenomenon of mobile tourism in the change of the tourism experience. It also studied the spillover effect that these changes have had on the use of mobile applications in tourism, trying to understand their impact on the tourism experience. A quantitative and qualitative analysis supported this investigation through a survey of 110 Portuguese tourists using applications and two interviews with administrators of mobile application development companies, and, finally, through the analysis of four case studies. The main conclusion is that smartphones and mobile travel applications can substantially alter the tourist experience. Tourists assume that smartphones have motivated changes in the activities and emotions experienced, especially in social applications that allow them to maintain contact with their friends and families and increase security levels.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify levels of self-compassion in adults who do and do not stutter and to determine whether self-compassion predicts the impact of stuttering on quality of life in adults who stutter. Method Participants included 140 adults who do and do not stutter matched for age and gender. All participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale. Adults who stutter also completed the Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering. Data were analyzed for self-compassion differences between and within adults who do and do not stutter and to predict self-compassion on quality of life in adults who stutter. Results Adults who do and do not stutter exhibited no significant differences in total self-compassion, regardless of participant gender. A simple linear regression of the total self-compassion score and total Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering score showed a significant, negative linear relationship of self-compassion predicting the impact of stuttering on quality of life. Conclusions Data suggest that higher levels of self-kindness, mindfulness, and social connectedness (i.e., self-compassion) are related to reduced negative reactions to stuttering, an increased participation in daily communication situations, and an improved overall quality of life. Future research should replicate current findings and identify moderators of the self-compassion–quality of life relationship.
