A sufficient supply of water for firefighting is critical for effective responses to urban fires, thus reducing fire hazards. The aim of this study was the development of an analysis method for vulnerable areas with respect to firefighting activities that require the use of fire hydrants. In particular, a method was proposed for the determination of the operational range of firefighting activities based on the distribution of the fire hydrants and the roads that allow for the passage of firefighting vehicles. The proposed method, which employs a geographic information system (GIS), was applied to Buk-gu, Daegu City, South Korea. The research results revealed that the operational range of firefighting activities and vulnerable areas can be determined by studying the connection between the fire hydrant locations and the fire brigade in the analysis of the accessible areas. This study contributes to the development of GIS analysis methods for comprehensive vulnerability analyses of firefighting activities, including accessibility to fire hydrants.

One of the anticipation actions that can be done before the flood disaster comes is to determine the evacuation route and evacuation location or shelter for flood relief and spread to the public in order to accelerate the process of evacuation of disaster victims so as to minimize losses from the flood itself. This research was conducted by approaching Geographic Information System (SIG) The purpose of this research is (1) Knowing the flood-prone agihan in Laweyan Subdistrict based on SIG. (2) Analyze the Availability of Shelter Locations (Educational Buildings and Buildings of Worship) of flood victims in Laweyan Subdistrict. It is expected that in the research to know the potential of the best temporary evacuation shelter / protection and evacuation design so that it can be considered and help the relevant agencies, especially local BPBD in order to improve flood mitigation in Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Surakarta City. To reduce or overcome the impact caused by flood disasters on the comfort and safety of the community in Laweyan Subdistrict, researchers need to raise the title, " Determination of Flood Victim Shelter in Lawean District of Surakarta City Based on Geographic Information System".

The aims of the research are to use the technology of the geographic information system for mapping and simulation of the soil erosion, and to know the difference betweet actual and potential erosion on the spesific land use type. The area of the research is Jumapolo District, Karanganyar Regency. USLE equation method (R=R.K.L.S.C.P) was used to predict the soil erosion intensity. The steps of the research are (1) pre-survey, prepared equipments for suvey, (2) survey, was done by exploring predertemined land map unit, and (3) labs, analysis of the soil samples, the rainfall data and teh ArcView GIS. Analysis was done using rating based on Zachar (1982) in order to know the difference of the soil erosion intensity.
The results of the research are first, geographic information system is useful to mapping and simulation of the soil erosion, especially to calculate data that numerous and difficult, to overlay, to layout the map (or the other spasial data) and the statistic of land area, second, Jumapolo District has variability of the soil erosion intensity i.e. very slight 25,77 ha (0,62% of the agriculture land area), slight 815,71 ha (20,39%), moderate 1.094,69 ha (25,49%), severe 1.150,58 ha (33,09%), very severe 827,25 ha (18,88%) and catastrophic 243,69 ha (1,53%) and third, the change of the land unit type and the conservation technic can change the soil erosio intensity. Simulation process result that land area which have soil erosion intensity severe, very severe and catastrophic changes become slight and moderate, therefore the new compotitions of the soil erosion intensity are very slight 25,77 ha (0,62%), slight 1.665,48 ha (40,06%), moderate 2.466,43 ha (59,32%), and each severe, very severe and catastrophic 0 ha (0%).

Population increased has consequences for the economic development of land demands for agriculture, settlement and other infrastructure. This resulted the change of area land cover which impact on the climate change and decline the environmental quality. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the environment through the land rehabilitation activities. The analysis of land cover change is needed as the first step to identify areas targeted by the land rehabilitation. Geographic information system is used as a spatial based on the appropriate determination of rehabilitation activities

Jember regency has several areas that are morphology of folding hills and mountain folds. The part of landslide prone zone is closely related to the slope of the slope. Areas with a sloping slope of more than 15º need attention to the possibility of a landslide disaster. Interconnection contacts with weathering of rocks, settlements and land cover also affect the landslide potential. The existence of Ijen Volcano that produces volcanic rock deposits that are generally not yet unified will increase the potential for landslides in Jember Regency. Landslide has occurred one of them on Gunung Gumitir Street which is the main route of Surabaya-Jember-Banyuwangi traffic. In May 2016 this street is hit by landslide, so the flow of traffic through this lane is paralyzed and must be diverted to a further path, which rotates to Situbondo City. The transfer of this pathway resulted in a loss to the local community and who crossed the path. The occurrence of landslide disaster shows that Jember Regency area is vulnerable and potentially return to landslide. Therefore there is a need for a solution to solve this problem. One solution to solve the problem is by utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) application. The purpose of this research is to analyze zonation prone to landslide in jember district. The design of the research is Geographic Information System overlay analysis. This design combines several parameters in the determination of landslide-prone zones. This design combines several parameters in the determination of landslide-prone zones. The parameter used in this research is (1) land use, (2) topography, and (3) soil.Based on the research results, it can be known zone with highest to lowest vulnerability level. Zone with very high level of vulnerability is located in Panti sub-district, Sumberbaru, Sukorambi, Dyke, Silo and Jelbuk. The zones have similar characteristics that include (1) soil type of andosol, (2) clay texture, (3) uncompacted rock, (4) slope of 30⁰-40⁰ (steep and very steep), and (5) land use for settlements and plantations. The potential of freshwater aquaculture area in South Aceh has not been optimally pursued; this is due to the limited technological and information capabilities, institutions and funding. The purpose of this study was to map the suitability of freshwater aquaculture land by utilizing the Geographic Information System (GIS) and multi criteria analysis in South Aceh. Determination of land suitability is done through the Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE) and application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The results of the analysis show that the appropriate location (S1) is 81.55% (of the total area sample area) and the location which is not suitable is 18.45% (of the total area sample area). This indicates that the coastal areas of South Aceh have potential freshwater aquaculture areas.
