The integration of renewable generation in electricity networks is one of the most widespread strategies to improve sustainability and to deal with the energy supply problem. Typically, the reinforcement of the generation fleet of an existing network requires the assessment and minimization of the installation and operating costs of all the energy resources in the network. Such analyses are usually conducted using peak demand and generation data. This paper proposes a method to optimize the location and size of different types of generation resources in a network, taking into account the typical evolution of demand and generation. The importance of considering this evolution is analyzed and the methodology is applied to two standard networks, namely the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 30-bus and the IEEE 118-bus. The proposed algorithm is based on the use of particle swarm optimization (PSO). In addition, the use of an initialization process based on the cross entropy (CE) method to accelerate convergence in problems of high computational cost is explored. The results of the case studies highlight the importance of considering dynamic demand and generation profiles to reach an effective integration of renewable resources (RRs) towards a sustainable development of electric systems.

The main part of mankind’s ecological footprint is the carbon footprint, a measure of the environmental impact of humanity’s energy release from fossil fuels. The use of fossil fuels will have to change in the forthcoming decades to a largely climate-neutral use of solar energy enabled by dramatic cost reductions for PV and wind energy systems. The impact of this trend on world society has been discussed in a previous paper. In connection with these important technical developments, the role of electricity, its transport and storage will alter in the coming decades, allowing the design and use of larger and larger electricity grids and a parallel use of hydrogen for both storage and energy transport. This will further change the energy landscape of the world. All these developments and their relationship to global sustainable development are elaborated in this cross-disciplinary paper by specifically analyzing whether the Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations are an effective road map for humanity to handle global climate change risks.

Effective financial systems provide significant benefits for the sustainable development of the countries. Therefore, most governments aim to take some actions to increase the effectiveness of the financial system. In this framework, financial intermediaries play a crucial role for this purpose. Financial intermediaries can be mainly classified into two different categories: banks and nonbanking organizations. In this chapter, the responsibilities of the financial intermediaries are explained. Within this context, first of all, the different types of the banks are identified. In addition, nonbanking organizations are defined. It is concluded that financial intermediaries should work effectively to increase the performance of the financial system. This situation has a positive influence on the economic growth of the countries.

The "Sustainable Development Complex Policy in Mongolia 2030" document represents the "Nomadic Culture" as a tourist hub, indicating that nomadic lifestyle is the main attraction in tourism. One of the main issues of concern for tourism in Mongolia is to focus on the herder lifestyle that differs from each other depending on natural zones. Therefore, we aim to study the different types of farming and lifestyle in such regions, as the Gobi, arid steppe, steppe, forest steppe and high mountain zone and determine which types of tourism are more convenient in each region.

China has grown rapidly since 1978, when it began to reform. However, the conflicts between the fast economic social development and pressure of the resources and environment are increasingly outstanding, which restrict regional social and economic sustainable development. Experience shows that China's National Sustainable Communities (CNSCs) since 1986 were the important carrier to carry out the sustainable development strategy and promote the coordinative development of economy, society, resources and environment. Based on the requirements and new trends of CNSCs, the basic idea for construction and development of current CNSCs was built, and the key elements and links were discussed, which guide proper planning to different types of CNSC construction.

Food waste policy analysis has traditionally concentrated on supranational or national policies and paid little attention to the role of cities in tackling this phenomenon. Nevertheless, cities have proved to be crucial actors in tackling food waste, launching effective policies and initiatives to address it. By looking at 40 cities across 16 European countries, this study aims to present a new framework for assessing urban food waste policies and initiatives. The framework proposed identifies and sheds light on the links between the different types of policies launched, the main areas of interventions addressed, as well as the different actors intervening in urban food waste management. Finally, it identifies direct and indirect links with the Sustainable Development Goals, showing the role that cities can play in achieving the targets of the UN 2030 Agenda.

The Grain for Green Program (GGP) is an important ecological project in China that was implemented to tackle serious soil erosion and forest loss for sustainable development. Investigating landscape change is an efficient way to monitor and assess the implementation of GGP. In this paper, 180 ethnic villages, including 36 Miao and Dong (MD) villages with combined populations of Miao people and Dong people, 65 Dong villages, and 79 Miao villages in Qiandongnan Prefecture were selected to investigate the influence of GGP on ethnic villages by evaluating the landscape changes before and after the implementation of the GGP within 1-km and 2-km distance buffers around ethnic villages. The results show that the GGP has more significant positive impacts on reforestation around Miao villages than Dong villages and MD villages because Miao villages are mostly located in higher and steeper areas, which are the focus of the GGP. Based on the analysis, a continuation of the GGP in Qiandongnan Prefecture is recommended, as it can incentivize the recovery of forest cover in steeper slopes. More attention should now be paid to the Dong villages and MD villages, which were not previously a focus of the GGP.

This paper investigates the Role of financial institutions in supporting entrepreneurial success in one of a very important emerging economy in the Middle East, Egypt. Also focuses on different tools used by either governmental or non-governmental agencies that contributes to help entrepreneurs starting their jobs, and as a result, achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Throughout the paper, reports various documents and academic literature were presented to determine the different types of sustainable development financing instruments available. Moreover, the various financial services provided by governmental and nongovernmental sectors are reviewed. Also, different types of challenges that may face entrepreneurs are also discussed. The interrelationships among those agencies as well as other technical support agencies are formulated in an integrated framework that describes the nature and direction of those relationships for the purpose of providing an adequate support to Egyptian entrepreneurs in various economic sectors.

Abstract: Bangladesh government allocates an amount of money in its national budget every year for the wellbeing of citizens. With the spirit of liberation war and the independence of Bangladesh the present government in its roadmap of development “Vision 2021” has incorporated strategies for the banishment of poverty, inequality and human deprivation. To ensure the sustainable development the Government of Bangladesh has started a total of 126 Safety Net Programmes in the FY 2019-20. To explore the extent and to identify the satisfaction level of the beneficiaries of Social Safety Net Programmes (SSNPs) in Bangladesh, a field study has been conducted in the selected two union councils. Total 70 respondents have been interviewed in this regard. They all have enjoyed different types of benefits of SSNPs. In this study, researchers have been noticed that how many beneficiaries are satisfied after getting the benefits of SSNPs and how many beneficiaries are not satisfied after getting the benefits. The study also found that how the socio-economic conditions of beneficiaries have been changed by getting the benefits.
