The investigation of trust in commercial banks needs to focus specifically on internet banking, as it is the fastest growing banking service. The article explores factors influencing trust in internet banking and estimates this impact in the Baltics states. The factors are as follows: Provided information, e-banking system, the website of a bank, and a bank’s characteristics. Overall, 1013 respondents and 21 experts took part in the current study. The results of the respondents’ survey showed that the factor that is necessary for trust building in all the examined countries differs: In Lithuania, information and the bank, in Latvia, the website, and in Estonia, the bank. According to the experts, the most powerful factor in the trust-building process in Lithuania and Latvia is the e-banking system while in Estonia, the website. The research has the following limitations: The online survey of individual customers (however, internet banking relates to internet users, so this limitation is not essential); the analysis of only the positively affecting criteria of the trust-building process; only experts assessed the subfactors.

Problems often faced by IT operation unit is the difficulty in determining the cause of the failure of an incident such as slowing access to the internet banking url, non-functioning of some features of m-banking or even the cessation of the entire e-banking service. The proposed method to modify ANFIS with Fuzzy C-Means Clustering (FCM) approach is applied to detect four typical kinds of faults that may happen in the e-banking system, which are application response times, transaction per second, server utilization and network performance. Input data is obtained from the e-banking monitoring results throughout 2017 that become data training and data testing. The study shows that an ANFIS modeling with FCM optimized input has a RMSE 0.006 and  increased accuracy by 1.27% compared to ANFIS without FCM optimization.

Non-performing loans (NPL) is a worldwide issue that affects financial markets stability in general and banking industry viability in particular. The net non-performing loan (NPL) ratio in the banking system since the Asian financial crisis has gradually been in decline from 13.6% in December 1998 to 2.8% in May 2008. Government intervention to non-performing loan recovery strategies have contributed significantly in the decline. The Malaysian government and banks have succeeded in removing the non-performing loans (NPL) from banks Balance Sheet. This study examines the factors influencing non-performing loans in commercial banks in Selangor. A quantitative research approach is employed in this research following the positivist assumption with a realist ontology and objectivist epistemology. Data was collected using a probabilistic sampling method, particularly a stratified random sampling technique. The adapted survey questionnaire employed in this study and distributed 150 questionnaires and successfully received 130 questionnaires. Overall, the researcher has discussed about the findings of the analysis that was conucted using the SPSS software. Descriptive approach, correlation and multiple regression analysiss had been shown during the analysis. The descriptive approach displayed direct  results while  the correlation displayed the relationship between the dependent variable (non-performing loan) and the independent variables (standard of living, consumer income, economy of the country, bank interest rate). In this research, found three factors that influencing non-performing loan in Malaysia which are consumers’ income, the economy of the country and bank interest rate. The bank will found that the bank interest rate affect the rate of non-performing loan increase. For the future researchers, this research will benefit them as well. If they are doing their researches which are related to this topic, they can gather everything they want easily. Besides that, it will benefit the researcher who is going to do this research study in Malaysia. This is because the information in Malaysia is limited.

Purpose Despite internet banking’s popularity, there is a rise in phishing attacks related to online banking transactions. Phishing attacks involved the process of sending out electronic mails impersonating the valid banking institutions to their customers and demanding confidential data such as credential and transaction authorisation code. The purpose of this paper is to propose a theoretical model of individual and technological factors influencing Malaysian internet banking users’ intention in responding to malicious uniform resource locator (URL) in phishing email content. Design/methodology/approach It applied the protective motivation theory, the theories of reasoned action and planned behaviour, the habit theory and the trust theory to examine the factors influencing internet banking users’ intention to click URLs in phishing emails. The study identifies individual and technological factors with ten hypotheses. A total of 368 Malaysian respondents voluntarily participated in an online survey conducted in the first week of March 2021. The partial least squares method provided in SmartPLS-3 was used to model the data. Findings The results revealed that individual factors, namely, internet banking experience, understanding the phishing meaning, response cost, trust and perceived ability were the significant influencing factors of internet banking users’ intention to click the link in phishing emails. This study also suggested that technological factors were not relevant in describing the behavioural intention of internet banking users in clicking the links in phishing emails. Social implications The findings could contribute to Malaysian banking sectors and relevant government agencies in educating and increasing internet banking users’ awareness towards phishing emails. Originality/value The outcomes demonstrated the individual factors that influenced internet banking users’ intention in responding to phishing emails that are specific and relevant to Malaysia’s context.

The Baby Boom generation, i.e. persons born between 1944 and 1963, constitutes over one fifth of the total European population, which makes it a significant segment of consumers. The important feature of this generation is their high trust in the banking system, which is one of the conditions for adapting technological changes in the areaof banking service distribution, including the acceptance of the internet banking (IB). In 2018, the average of 37.1% Baby Boomers used IB, which demonstrates that this distribution channel still has a large potential for development. There are distinct differences among European states regarding the scope of the internet usage for banking services by persons aged 55–74. The aim of this study is to define the structure of IB market for the European Baby Boom generation according to social and demographical characteristics (education and gender). The study is based on Eurostat’s corresponding data for 2018.The analysis of the structure of the IB market has been based on the gender and the level of education of its users, adopting one of the methods of cluster analysis, the Ward method. The analysis demonstrates that Nordic countries and the Netherlands are the European leaders in terms of IB usage among Baby Boomers, whereas the lowest percentage of IB usage among Baby Boomers has been observed in the Balkan and Southern Europe-an countries, e.g. Turkey and Italy. Among the analysed social and demographic characteristics, education differentiates the selected groups of states to a larger extent than gender.

Abstract Banking sector has developed and extended the usage of online services in the past decade. In fact, nowadays, Internet-based banking services dominate over other historically provided alternatives. This article discusses private clients′ trust in Internet banking in Latvia. The model of trust in Internet banking was developed based on four factors, distinguished in the scientific literature. They are provided information, bank’s characteristics, ebanking system and website of a bank. Hence, the goal of the research is to measure the impact of distinguished factors on trust in Internet banking. In order to determine how these attributes affect private customers′ trust, correlation and regression analysis were applied. The results showed that the most vital factor affecting private clients’ trust in Internet banking is e-banking system. What is more, it was found that provided information is a statistically insignificant factor and, hence, it was removed from the model. Respondents, being private customers, limit the breadth of study, thus the results do not reflect companies’ trust in Internet banking.

The first online banking service was introduced in Turkey by Is Bank in 1998. However, the number of internet users has been increasing rapidly in Turkey, the number of online banking users did not increase with a similar pace. Although banks are taking measures for the security of online banking transactions, many financial consumers are still concerned about the security of these transactions therefore preferring not to use online banking. This study reveals the development of internet banking in Turkey and consumer percentages. Previous research on the factors affecting the usage of e-banking are also addressed in this study. It was found that the majority of these studies focus on the correlation between the security concerns which result in avoiding to use internet banking.
