In recent years, owing to the improvements in technologies and the rapid changes in market demands, the life-cycle of consumer electronic products has been shortened and new products are being released constantly. With rising environmental awareness, product value, and cost are not the only factors defining consumer value; the impact of the product to the environment has become another new factor to affect consumers purchase decisions. A key concept to transform unsustainable to sustainable development is eco-efficiency, a concept that uses less energy and resource to make a product, producing less waste and pollution. However, there has been very little discussion on how beneficial these environmentally friendly products actually are to the consumer. In view of this, the present study proposes a set of methods for consumer value and ecological benefit evaluation from the perspective of consumers. A model for determining the most suitable time to make a purchase is developed with the inclusion of the time factor, and the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used to find the suggested order of purchase at different times on the model. Finally, factors such as different groups of consumers and different types of products are considered in investigating the most appropriate time to make a purchase under different circumstances. This study focused on notebook computers, which are having high variety and easily get obsolete. As for the investigation of different consumer groups, this study found that there is a relatively good product selection order of Ultrabooks for price-conscious and environmentally conscious consumer groups. Business Notebooks are the most suitable option for general consumer groups. Being able to know optimal time to purchase and to evaluate the product ecological benefit would be beneficial to both consumers and the environment nowadays.

Consumer electronic products have become an indispensable part of living for people with the development of information technologies. Crystal oscillator, CXO, a frequency controlling component, which is needed by communication-related industries, is widely used in expensive electronic products like mobile phones, notebook computers and GPS for its outstanding features of stability in temperature and low wearing. In CXO products, wires of ill quality are very likely to lead to ill contact between signal connectors and gold wires on IC or broken wires, which would cause the whole IC-packaged product unable to work normally. This article, thus, will develop a model of assessing and testing process capabilities with process capability index,Cpl, specifically for the larger-the-better quality characteristic of wire process. The article will also provide the assessment procedure, whereby the industry can effectively evaluate whether the process capabilities of their products meet the benchmarks they are supposed to.

In the face of a wide range of consumer electronic products, how can consumers take into account the sustainable development of the ecological environment during their purchase and consumption? This study established a new product aesthetics classification, divided it into interface aesthetics and product form aesthetics, and proposed a new conceptual model to test the impact of interface aesthetics and product form aesthetics on sustainable perceived value and purchase intention. In this study, smartwatches were used as the subject and a two-stage survey was carried out to collect samples from common consumers of consumer electronic products. Partial least squares (PLS) was employed to test the conceptual model and corresponding hypotheses on data collected from 425 survey samples. The research results suggested that interface aesthetics and product form aesthetics must be mediated by sustainable perceived value so as to have a positive impact on consumers’ purchase intention. Therefore, sustainable perceived value is a mediating variable for adjusting product aesthetics and purchase intention. In addition, sustainable perceived value greatly affects consumers’ green consumer behavior. Increasing the emotional durability established between consumers and products through sustainable perceived value to prolong the life of products reduces resource consumption and wave costs, and promotes sustainable development of ecological resources.

This chapter addresses how innovation may affect price measurement—a key issue for the accuracy of measures of principal economic indicators and a long-discussed one. Two main changes related to product innovation are important in this context: new goods (which are often cheaper) are driving old goods out of the market; and new products often offer improved quality. The literature suggests that a failure to properly account for these has added 0.8 percentage points per year to the measured Consumer Price Index in the United States. Quality adjustment approaches in all OECD countries have converged towards general methodological guidelines that represent a common knowledge base. The hedonic methodology is applied in a significant number of countries and for specific categories of goods, in particular electronic products. The use of this approach is exemplified and the impact on price indexes evaluated.

The utilization of insect-based feeds (IBF) as an alternative protein source is increasingly gaining momentum worldwide owing to recent concerns over the impact of food systems on the environment. However, its large-scale adoption will depend on farmers’ acceptance of its key qualities. This study evaluates farmer’s perceptions of commercial IBF products and assesses the factors that would influence its adoption. It employs principal component analysis (PCA) to develop perception indices that are subsequently used in multiple regression analysis of survey data collected from a sample of 310 farmers. Over 90% of the farmers were ready and willing to use IBF. The PCA identified feed performance, social acceptability of the use of insects in feed formulation, feed versatility and marketability of livestock products reared on IBF as the key attributes that would inform farmers’ purchase decisions. Awareness of IBF attributes, group membership, off-farm income, wealth status and education significantly influenced farmers’ perceptions of IBF. Interventions such as experimental demonstrations that increase farmers’ technical knowledge on the productivity of livestock fed on IBF are crucial to reducing farmers’ uncertainties towards acceptability of IBF. Public partnerships with resource-endowed farmers and farmer groups are recommended to improve knowledge sharing on IBF.

Due to the fact that intelligent algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE) are susceptible to local optima and the efficiency of solving an optimal solution is low when solving the optimal trajectory, this paper uses the Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) algorithm for the optimal trajectory planning of a hydraulic robotic excavator. To achieve high efficiency and stationarity during the operation of the hydraulic robotic excavator, the trade-off between the time and jerk is considered. Cubic splines were used to interpolate in joint space, and the optimal time-jerk trajectory was obtained using the SQP with joint angular velocity, angular acceleration, and jerk as constraints. The optimal angle curves of each joint were obtained, and the optimal time-jerk trajectory planning of the excavator was realized. Experimental results show that the SQP method under the same weight is more efficient in solving the optimal solution and the optimal excavating trajectory is smoother, and each joint can reach the target point with smaller angular velocity, and acceleration change, which avoids the impact of each joint during operation and conserves working time. Finally, the excavator autonomous operation becomes more stable and efficient.

This paper investigates the impact of post-purchase user generated content (UGC) and traditional reference groups on the purchase intentions for electronic products (e-products) among young consumers in Jordan. To achieve this, a descriptive methodology was adapted, with a quantitative approach and survey strategy utilizing a five-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed to 450 university and college students in Jordan. 400 filtered and screened copies underwent statistical analyses. SPSS version 21 was utilized to describe and analyze the data. The results revealed a strong impact of post-purchase UGC on purchase intentions of e-products among young consumers. The results also revealed that traditional reference groups have a lower significant impact on the purchase intentions of young consumers, indicating that young consumers rely on online communities more than they rely on family, friends, colleagues, and other social organizations. The findings are discussed with a view to their implications, with recommendations for future research.

The conditions for the hardening of tools in accordance with the author’s technological routes in the optimal time interval are considered using the functional dependence of the serviceability of plasma generators. This dependence takes into account the workability of the technical devices involved in processing the laying batch of tools in the speci ed time interval. The probability of performing the production process in the estimated time is represented by the product of the trouble-free operation of each glow discharge plasma generator involved in the nishing processing of tools that require a different type of plasma exposure in a certain sequence and duration.
