Our society is nowadays evolving towards a digital era, due to the extensive use of computer technologies and their interconnection mechanisms, i.e., social networks, Internet resources, IoT services, etc. This way, new threats and vulnerabilities appear. Therefore, there is an urgent necessity of training students in the topic of cybersecurity, in which practical skills have to be acquired. In distance education, the inclusion of on-line resources for hands-on activities in its curricula is a key step in meeting that need. This work presents several contributions. First, the fundamentals of a virtual remote laboratory hosted in the cloud are detailed. This laboratory is a step forward since the laboratory combines both virtualization and cloud paradigms to dynamically create emulated environments. Second, this laboratory has also been integrated into the practical curricula of a cybersecurity subject, as an additional on-line resource. Third, the students’ traceability, in terms of their interactions with the laboratory, is also analyzed. Psychological TAM/UTAUT factors (perceived usefulness, estimated effort, social influence, attitude, ease of access) that may affect the intention of using the laboratory are analyzed. Fourth, the degree of satisfaction is analyzed with a great impact, since the mean values of these factors are most of them higher than 4 points out of 5. In addition to this, the students’ acceptance of the presented technology is exhaustively studied. Two structural equation models have been hypothesized and validated. Finally, the acceptance of the technology can be concluded as very good in order to be used in other Engineering contexts. In this sense, the calculated statistical values for the improved proposed model are within the expected ranges of reliability (X2 = 0.6, X2/DF = 0.3, GFI = 0.985, CIF = 0.985, RMSEA = 0) by considering the literature.

With the continuous expansion of sub-ecological problems, it is the question of how to effectively reduce environmental pollution and improve energy efficiency that has become a major challenge. At the same time, the energy consumption of family homes accounts for a large proportion, and whether smart homes can become a part of sustainable development is getting more and more attention. Although there are hundreds of smart home products and many investors on the market, consumers are relatively less accepting of this technology. How to make consumers adopt and continue to use has become a key issue in the development of smart homes. From the perspective of consumers, this study aims first to explore the relevant factors that affect the sustainable use of smart homes, and second empirically analyze the hypothetical model by using structural equation modeling. The empirical analysis results are based on the sample data of 488 Chinese respondents with experience in smart home use. The results showed that the service quality and perceived usefulness of smart home services positively impact users’ degree of satisfaction, and a higher degree of satisfaction, in turn, contributes to users’ formation of habits. Users’ desire to continuously use smart home services is influenced by perceived usefulness, degree of satisfaction, and habit; among them, habit is the key factor affecting users’ willingness. These findings expand our understanding of users’ desire to continuously use smart homes and provide theoretical support for the sustainable development of the smart home industry.

This study aims to examine the intention of adopting information technology for SMEs in DIY through the expansion of the technology acceptance model. This research continues the previous research related to aspects of obstacles experienced in the development of SME businesses. The research conducted a survey using a sample of SMEs entrepreneurs in DIY. The data analysis technique in this study uses structural equation models that are assisted by the AMOS program. Overall, the expansion model of the technology acceptance model in predicting the intention of adopting SME’s information technology in this study fulfils the model fit rules, which means that the model developed in this study is by existing empirical conditions. In particular, the results of the study prove the influence of business competition pressure on the usefulness of SME owners. It also found that ease of use and perceived usefulness have an effect on the attitudes towards SMEs information technology adoption of SMEs owners, and the attitudes on the adoption of SMEs information technology affect the intention of adopting SME’s information technology.

This study aims at explaining the influence process of YouTube’s consumer-generated content on consumers’ cognition, attitude and purchase intention. The proposed model is based on Elaboration Likelihood Model with extensive variables including perceived usefulness, attitude, information adoption and purchase intention. To test the validity of proposed model and research hypotheses, Structural Equation Model is applied on a sample of 208 individuals who are interested in smartphone. The results show that the measurements are reliable and valid and research model can be used for explaining the effect of consumer-generated content on consumers. Besides, all hypotheses are empirically supported. This study, therefore, has contributions on both academic and practical aspects.

BACKGROUND Telepsychology is currently incorporated in clinical practice, being offered in most psychotherapy centers. However, there seems to be a remarkable discrepancy between the offer, or interest in, and real-world uptake of e-mental health interventions among the population. A critical precondition is patients’ willingness to accept and use telepsychology, although this issue has thus far been overlooked in research. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to examine patients’ acceptance and use of telepsychology by adopting an extended UTAUT model that integrates perceived telepsychology advantages and barriers, usefulness perceptions, behavioral intention and telepsychology use. METHODS An online survey was conducted on a convenience sample of 514 subjects. Structural equation models were computed to test a mediation model. RESULTS Results supported the UTAUT model to explain patients’ acceptance and use of telepsychology. They showed a causal chain in which perceived telepsychology advantages and barriers were related to telepsychology use through the perceived usefulness of and intention to use telepsychology. CONCLUSIONS Telepsychology use may be explained according to the UTAUT model when coupled with patients’ perceptions of telepsychology advantages and barriers. Mental health stakeholders could consider these factors in order to increase the acceptance and use of telepsychology.

The use of digital technology by older adults has improved in recent years in response to the need for their functional adaptation to an increasingly technological social context. Understanding this type of technological adaptation has recently become an important field of inquiry in both social and gerontological studies. Working within this framework, the aim of this study is to identify the main determinants that influence the intention of older people to use digital technology in their daily lives, using the Technological Acceptance Model. A study was carried out with the participation of 1155 people over 65 years of age in Spain. Confirmatory Factor Analysis and structural equation models (SEM) were performed. The results show that the TAM is a useful model to explain the intention of older adults to use Digital Technology, showing a high predictive power, highlighting Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use as the main predictor variables.

This chapter analyses the tourist behaviour through the estimation of a statistical model of structural equations, observing to what extent the motivation, interest, and value given to the destination of the trip are determining factors. A study of the socio-demographic profiles, the level of satisfaction, and the loyalty of the tourist with the destination is carried out in this context and in response to the need to analyse and understand the reasons why tourists have a greater or lesser degree of satisfaction with the destination, which is truly necessary to improve the public administrations and private entrepreneur management in this sector. This has been applied to a case study: tourists visiting the city of Cordoba, designing a survey for those who visit the city for cultural reasons.

This study aims to provide empirical evidence of the influence of individual factors, social factors and institutional factors as the antecedent of behavioral intention through beliefs in using the technology of synchronous e-learning, such as perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Analysis uses structural equation models by using smartPLS software. Results of this research shown the support of 6 out of 7 proposed hypothesis, namely that there is a significant positive relationship between top management commitment and support, references from colleagues and computer self efficacy against perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Keywords: behavioral intention, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, computer self efficacy, synchronous e-learning. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bukti empiris pengaruh faktor individual, faktor sosial dan faktor institusional sebagai anteseden behavioral intention melalui kepercayaan-kepercayaan menggunakan teknologi synchronous e-learning, yaitu perceived usefulness dan perceived ease of use. Analisis menggunakan model persamaan structural dengan menggunakan software smartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdukungnya 6 dari 7 hipotesis yang diajukan yaitu terdapat hubungan positif signifikan antara dukungan dan komitmen manajemen puncak, referensi rekan sejawat dan computer self efficacy terhadap perceived usefulness dan perceived ease of use.Kata kunci: Niat perilaku, kegunaan yang dirasakan, persepsi kemudahan penggunaan, efikasi diri komputer, sinkron e-learning.

The design and implementation of effective transport policies to reduce car use in urban areas requires a deep comprehension of the factors that influence travel behavior. In this context, psychological factors play an important role in explaining travel-related decisions. The purpose of this paper is to present a study on the effects of cognitive, affective and behavioral attitudes towards the use of walking and cycling on both intentions and real use of cars, public transport, bicycles, and walking. The data used was obtained from an on-line survey carried out in 2017. Analyses included reliability and validity of the questionnaire, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and structural equation models. Results indicate that cycling and walking are evaluated differently in terms of feelings of freedom, pleasure, and relaxation. Positive evaluation of elements related to past walking behavior are negatively associated to both the intention to walk and actual walking. Transport policies to encourage cycling should be different from those with the aim of promoting walking. Positive attitudes towards walking are not enough to increase real walking.

Mobile commerce has already become one of the trends in future developments. Therefore, mobile shopping in application of mobile commerce will become one of the services with a vast development potential. A technology acceptance model (TAM) with trust is utilized to explore influence of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness in mobile shopping on customers' attitudes and behavioral intention to use, mobility, convenience and information richness, characterized by mobile commerce. An online survey was performed on a sample of 600 mobile users in Taiwan. Structural equation models (SEM) are used to examine hypotheses within the theoretical framework.


Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) has been playing an important role in the latest e-learning initiative and has obtained a widespread popularity in many universities. However, the low course completion rates of students have become an outstanding issue that should not be neglected. Based on the Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM), this study examines the effects of students’ perceived usefulness, confirmation and satisfaction on MOOC continuance intention. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to validate the proposed model and hypotheses. Participants were 368 undergraduate students enrolled in a MOOC platform. The study’s result revealed that confirmation has significant effects on students’ perceived usefulness and satisfaction. Perceived usefulness and satisfaction have significant effects on students’ continuance intention while perceived usefulness has no significant effects on students’ satisfaction. This study will help to outspread our understanding of what influence students to continue using MOOC.
