In this paper, a soft fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensor was constructed of a rubber strip, FBGs and steel plates, which exhibits the advantages of high precision and a small size. A series of FBGs was uniformly pasted on a flexible rubber strip which can monitor the slope deformation by measuring the bending deformation of the rubber strip. Most notably, this sensor can be used to monitor horizontal displacement in the subsurface of the slope model. The relationships among the bending angle of the rubber strip, the strain of the rubber strip, and the subsurface deformation of the slope model were established. In addition, the subsurface deformation of the slope model can be obtained by the FBG strain sensor monitoring. Since a rigid-flexible structure was formed by uniformly pasting a series of steel plates on the other side of the rubber strip, the sensitivity of the FBG strain sensor was improved to be 1.5425 nm/°. The measurement results verify that the FBG strain sensor shows good performance, and the model test results demonstrate that the FBG strain sensor can be used for monitoring the subsurface deformation of the slope model.

The State special primary acceleration measurement standard for gravimetry (GET 190-2019), its composition, principle of operation and basic metrological characteristics are presented. This standard is on the upper level of reference for free-fall acceleration measurements. Its accuracy and reliability were improved as a result of optimisation of the adjustment procedures for measurement systems and its integration within the upgraded systems, units and modern hardware components. A special attention was given to adjusting the corrections applied to measurement results with respect to procedural, physical and technical limitations. The used investigation methods made it possibled to confirm the measurement range of GET 190-2019 and to determine the contributions of main sources of errors and the total value of these errors. The measurement characteristics and GET 90-2019 were confirmed by the results obtained from measurements of the absolute value of the free fall acceleration at the gravimetrical site “Lomonosov-1” and by their collation with the data of different dates obtained from measurements by high-precision foreign and domestic gravimeters. Topicality of such measurements ensues from the requirements to handle the applied problems that need data on parameters of the Earth gravitational field, to be adequately faced. Geophysics and navigation are the main fields of application for high-precision measurements in this field.

We investigated a prototype of a strain sensor based on the layers of a bionanomaterial containing bovine serum albumin (BSA matrix) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT filler). The aqueous dispersion of 25 wt.% BSA/0.3 wt.% MWCNT was applied by screen printing onto flexible polyethylene terephthalate substrates. After drying the layers by laser irradiation (~970 nm), various parameters of the layers were controlled, i.e., resistance R, bending angle θ, number of cycles n, and measurement time. One measurement cycle corresponded to a change within the range θ = ±150°. The layers of the BSA/MWCNT bionanomaterial had dimensions of (15 ÷ 20) mm × (8 ÷ 10) mm × (0.5 ÷ 1. 5) µm. The dependences of resistance R on the bending angle θ were similar for all layers at θ = ±30, and the R(θ) curves represented approximate linear dependences (with an error of ≤ 10%); beyond this range, the dependences became nonlinear. The following quantitative values were obtained for the investigated strain sensor: specific conductivity ~1 ÷ 10 S/m, linear strain sensitivity ~160, and bending sensitivity 1.0 ÷ 1.5%/°. These results are high. The examined layers of the bionanomaterial BSA/MWCNT as a strain sensor are of particular interest for medical practice. In particular, strain sensors can be implemented by applying a water dispersion of nanomaterials to human skin using a 3D printer for monitoring movements (arms and blinking) and the detection of signs of pathology (dysphagia, respiratory diseases, angina, etc.).

This review paper covers extensive investigations which were undertaken in order to verify the idea of launching of ships and other floating structures from a horizontal berth by a set of turning pads. This includes structural dynamics during launching, model tests and strength analysis of the structure and the launching system. The most important results, which were used for the design of the launching system, are presented. The preparation of a barge for side launching is described, and the full-scale measurement results are compared with the test results. The advantages of building ships and offshore structures on a horizontal berth are pointed out in the conclusion.

The aim of this study is to obtain test data for longitudinally stiffened steel plates which are quasistatically cut by a rigid wedge, idealizing the deck or bottom platings in ship collision or grounding, and also to derive an empirical formula relating the absorbed energy and cutting length. A series of tests for longitudinally stiffened high-tensile steel plates is conducted, varying several factors, namely plate thickness, plate aspect ratio, angle/shape of wedge tip and property of stiffeners. A total of 50 specimens with thicknesses in the range of 3.4 to 7.8 mm and wedge angles of 15, 30, 45, and 60 deg, including one unstiffened and two horizontally stiffened plate specimens, were tested. The importance of each parameter and its effect on the cutting response are investigated. By dimensionless analysis of the test results obtained here, the energy absorbed while a longitudinally stiffened plate is cut by a wedge is expressed as a function of cutting length, yield stress, equivalent plate thickness, and wedge angle. Incorporation of dynamic effects into the static formula is suggested. A comparison of the proposed solutions with the previous formulas or drop-hammer test results is made.

White-light interferometric technique has been widely applied in the measurement of three-dimensional profiles and roughness with high-precision. Based on the characteristic of interferometric technique, a new method combined with image location and a three-dimensional stage is proposed to achieve the non-contact absolute shape measurement for aspheric and spherical surface in a slarge range. The interference fringes vary with the horizontal displacement of the measured surface, the surface information was obtained by locating the transformation of the maximal intensity in the interferograms. Two main influence factors are discussed; they are performance of the inerferimetric microscope and the stage. Since the performance of the stage directly determines the measurement precision, a three-dimensional displacement stage with a large range and a high precision was developed. Some experiments were carried out to verify the performance of the three-dimensional displacement stage and the validity of the new measurement method with satisfactory results.

A total of 11 L-shaped multi-cell concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns were fabricated and researched in axial compression test. The key factors of width-to-thickness ratio D/ t of steel plates in column limb and prism compressive strength of concrete fck were investigated to obtain influence on failure mode, bearing capacity, and ductility of the specimens. The test results show that the constraint effect for concrete provided by multi-cell steel tube cannot be ignored. The ductility decreases with the increase of width-to-thickness ratio D/ t of steel plates in column limb. The bearing capacity increases and the ductility decreases with the increase in prism compressive strength of concrete fck. A finite element program to calculate concentric load–displacement curves of L-shaped multi-cell concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns was proposed and verified by the test results. A parametric analysis with the finite element program was carried out to study the influence of the steel ratio α, steel yield strength fy, prism compressive strength of concrete fck, and width-to-thickness ratio D/ t of steel plates in column limb on the stiffness, bearing capacity and ductility. Furthermore, the design method of bearing capacity was determined based on mainstream concrete-filled steel tubular codes.

Preeclampsia complicates 4-7% of pregnancies and remains the leading cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite improvements in health care over the last decade, preeclampsia remains the second most common cause of maternal mortality in Indonesia. This study aims to determine whether the mean arterial pressure (MAP) is related to the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women at the Bontobangun Puskesmas, Bulukumba district for the period 2018 to 2019. This research uses a descriptive-analytic approach with Historical Cohort Studies, namely by looking at the cohort book of the history of blood pressure measurement results for pregnant women at the Bontobangun Public Health Center, Bulukumba Regency for the period 2018 to 2019. Determining the sample using the sampling method taken by purposive sampling. 31 samples of pregnant women who experienced preeclampsia and 31 controls were pregnant women with normal conditions who had certain criteria (matching) with the sample. The results explained that from the paired T-test results, the value of α> 0.037 so that it is said that there is a relationship between mean artery pressure (MAP) and the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women at Bontobangun puskesmas for the period 2018-2019.
