The quality of sleep affects the patient’s health, along with the observation of vital life signs such as body temperature and sweat in sleep, is essential in the monitoring of sleep as well as clinical diagnosis. However, traditional methods in recording physiological change amidst sleep is difficult without being intrusive. The smart pillow is developed to provide a relatively easy way to observe one’s sleep condition, employing temperature and humidity sensors by implanting them inside the pillow in strategic positions. With the patient’s head on the pillow, the roles of sensors are identified as main, auxiliary or environmental temperature, based on the differences of value from three temperature sensors, thus the pattern of sleep can be extracted by statistical analysis, and the body temperature is inferred by a specially designed Fuzzy Logic System if the head-on position is stable for more than 15 min. Night sweat is reported on data from the humidity sensor. Therefore, a cloud-based health-sensing system is built in the smart pillow to collect and analyze data. Experiments from various individuals prove that statistical and inferred results reflect normal and abnormal conditions of sleep accurately. The daily sleeping information of patients from the pillow is helpful in the decision-making of diagnoses and treatment, and users can change their habits of sleep gradually by observing the data with their health professional.

1. The upper thermal death-point of the slow worm (Anguis fragilis) is significantly above that of either the toad (Bufo bufo) or the frog (Rana temporaria). That of the toad differs only slightly from that of the frog. 2. In response to external variation with respect to temperature and humidity, the body temperature of the toad behaves in a manner similar to that of the frog, being considerably below that of the air at low humidities, though appreciably above that of the wet-bulb thermometer. It is concluded that the toad loses water as freely as the frog. 3. The body temperature of the slow worm and that of the alligator (A. mississippiensis) differs only slightly from that of the air under all conditions of sustained air temperature and humidity. 4. The body temperature reaction of the alligator is more sluggish than that of the slow worm, presumably owing to the higher thermal capacity of the animal. 5. The significance of these results in relation to the evolution of the terrestrial vertebrates is discussed. It is suggested that homoeothermic stocks could arise only from reptiles of relatively small size, and that large body size would militate against survival during periods of low mean external temperature.

An investigation was conducted to know the freshness quality and associated post-harvest loss of hilsa, if any, transported to Mymensingh from the major landing centers through Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong (route A) and Barguna-Chandpur (route B) routes for a period of July to October 2012. The average environmental temperature of the wholesale and retail markets was 30.7 °C and 30.6 °C where the body temperature of hilsa was 4.5 °C (route A) and 4.7 °C (route B), respectively. The Freshness quality of hilsa was assessed using sensory defects points (DPs) that eventually gave rise to numerical values ‘1’ being the freshest and ‘5’ being the worst quality. The DPs of hilsa were found 2.0, which reveal that the fishes were in excellent conditions, i.e., there was no significant post-harvest loss even during retail sale. DPs on arrival and at wholesale in July, September and October were significantly different after auction and during retail sale (p<0.05), and in August differed significantly only during retail sale (p<0.05). It was observed that hilsa transported to Mymensingh from Barguna-Chandpur were better in quality than those transported from Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong. The reason behind this finding was not studied and this needs to be elucidated through further research.

1. The thermal death-points of three species of cockroaches in dry and in moist air have been determined for 1-day and 1-hour exposures. 2. Moist air is more favourable than dry in the longer exposures, because in dry air death occurs from desiccation when the temperature itself is not fatal. 3. Dry air is more favourable than moist in the shorter exposures, owing to the fact that the evaporation of water lowers the body temperature. 4. Bearing in mind the thermotactic behaviour of these animals, these observations would seem to have little ecological importance.

Getting enough sleep at the right times can help in improving quality of life and protect mental and physical health. This study proposes a portable sleep monitoring device to determine the relationship between the ambient temperature and quality of sleep. Body condition parameter such as heart rate, body temperature and body movement was used to determine quality of sleep. All readings will be log into database so that users can review back and hence analyze quality of sleep. The functionality of the overall system is designed for a better experience with a very minimal intervention to the user. The simple test on the body condition (body temperature and heart rate) while asleep with several different ambient temperatures are varied and the result shows that someone has a better sleep for the temperature range of 23 to 28 degree Celsius. This can prove by lower body temperature and lower heart rate.

Any movement of the human body associated with muscle contraction, resulting in energy expenditure which exceeds that during rest, is considered physical activity. Physical activity is directly related to health and quality of life. Reduced physical exercise is seen as one of the factors for the development of a number of socially significant diseases leading to premature mortality and/or disability. The regular and sufficient physical activity leads to morphological and functional changes in the body that can prevent or delay the onset and development of these diseases. Movement as a manifestation of the physical activity is a major tool in the rehab therapistʼs work for prevention, prophylaxis and treatment of various diseases. The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze data related to motion awareness and personal motivation of the future rehabilitation therapists. Material and Methods: Students from the specialty "Rehabilitation Therapist" were inquired through a direct individual survey.

_____________________________

Abstract :

Environmental conditions often change, making conditions for livestock to be less productive, especially for crickets. Apart from being influenced by changing and erratic environmental conditions, the decline in cricket production is influenced by temperature and humidity. The ideal temperature for crickets is in the range of 20 ° C-32 ° C. Meanwhile, the humidity of the cage is in the range of 65% -80%. For that, we need a tool to measure the cricket cage's temperature and humidity that can monitor the situation and know the condition of the cricket cage itself so that it can improve the quality of cricket production.

Based on these problems, a monitoring system for crickets was created. This system can do watering automatically if the cricket cage's temperature is too hot and the cage is too humid.

This research made a dashboard of information on the crickets cage's condition with temperature and humidity sensors. This system uses temperature, humidity sensors, and water pump devices, which are assembled on the NodeMCU microcontroller. Meanwhile, information is displayed in a monitoring dashboard using a Codeigniter framework.
