With the development of the designing and manufacturing level for micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) gyroscopes, the control circuit system has become a key point to determine their internal performance. Nevertheless, the phase delay of electronic components may result in some serious hazards. This study described a real-time circuit phase delay correction system for MEMS vibratory gyroscopes. A detailed theoretical analysis was provided to clarify the influence of circuit phase delay on the in-phase and quadrature (IQ) coupling characteristics and the zero-rate output (ZRO) utilizing a force-to-rebalance (FTR) closed-loop detection and quadrature correction system. By deducing the relationship between the amplitude-frequency, the phase-frequency of the MEMS gyroscope, and the phase relationship of the whole control loop, a real-time correction system was proposed to automatically adjust the phase reference value of the phase-locked loop (PLL) and thus compensate for the real-time circuit phase delay. The experimental results showed that the correction system can accurately measure and compensate the circuit phase delay in real time. Furthermore, the unwanted IQ coupling can be eliminated and the ZRO was decreased by 755% to 0.095°/s. This correction system realized a small angle random walk of 0.978°/√h and a low bias instability of 9.458°/h together with a scale factor nonlinearity of 255 ppm at room temperature. The thermal drift of the ZRO was reduced to 0.0034°/s/°C at a temperature range from −20 to 70 °C.

The real-time thermal–mechanical–frictional coupling characteristics of bearings are critical to the accuracy, reliability, and life of entire machines. To obtain the real-time dynamic characteristics of ball bearings, a novel model to calculate point contact dynamic friction in mixed lubrication was firstly presented in this work. The model of time-varying thermal contact resistance under fit between the ring and the ball, between the ring and the housing, and between the ring and the shaft was established using the fractal theory and the heat transfer theory. Furthermore, an inverse thermal network method with time-varying thermal contact resistance was presented. Using these models, the real-time thermal–mechanical–frictional coupling characteristics of ball bearings were obtained. The effectiveness of the presented models was verified by experiment and comparison.

ABSTRACTDisplacement loops (D-loops) are signature intermediates formed during homologous recombination. Numerous factors regulate D-loop formation and disruption, thereby influencing crucial aspects of DNA repair, including donor choice and the possibility of a crossover outcome. While D-loop detection methods exist, it is currently unfeasible to assess the relationship between D-loop editors and D-loop characteristics such as length and position. Here, we developed a novel in vitro assay to characterize the length and position of individual D-loop with base-pair resolution and deep coverage, while also revealing their distribution in a population. Non-denaturing bisulfite treatment modifies the cytosines on the displaced strand of the D-loop to uracil, leaving a permanent signature for the displaced strand. Subsequent single-molecule real-time sequencing uncovers the cytosine conversion patch as a D-loop footprint, revealing D-loop characteristics at unprecedented resolution. The D-loop Mapping Assay is widely applicable with different substrates and donor types and can be used to study factors that influence D-loop properties.

The paper presents the implementation of geoportal for landslide monitoring which which includes two subsystems: a system for acquisition, storage and distribution of data on landslides and real time alert system. System for acquisition, storage and distribution of data on landslides include raster and vector spatial data on landslides affected areas, as well as metadata. Alert system in real time is associated with a sensor for detecting displacement, which performs constant measurements and signals in case of exceeding the reference value. The system was developed in accordance with the standards in the field of GIS: ISO 19100 series of standards and OpenGIS Consortium and is based on service-oriented architecture and principles of spatial data infrastructures.

Abstract Application of laser welding technology requires that the laser beam is guided through the whole length of the joint with sufficiently high accuracy. This paper describes result of research on development of optomechatronic system that allows for the precise positioning of the laser head’s TCP point on the edge of welded elements during laser processing. The developed system allows for compensation of workpiece’s fixture inaccuracies, precast distortions and workpiece deformations occurring during the process.

A new energy management system (EMS) is presented for small scale microgrids (MGs). The proposed EMS focuses on minimizing the daily cost of the energy drawn by the MG from the main electrical grid and increasing the self-consumption of local renewable energy resources (RES). This is achieved by determining the appropriate reference value for the power drawn from the main grid and forcing the MG to accurately follow this value by controlling a battery energy storage system. A mixed integer linear programming algorithm determines this reference value considering a time-of-use tariff and short-term forecasting of generation and consumption. A real-time predictive controller is used to control the battery energy storage system to follow this reference value. The results obtained show the capability of the proposed EMS to lower the daily operating costs for the MG customers. Experimental studies on a laboratory-based MG have been implemented to demonstrate that the proposed EMS can be implemented in a realistic environment.
