New, practical approaches for the synthesis of α-amino (2-alkynylphenyl)-methylphosphonates and 1,2-dihydroisoquinolin-1-ylphosphonates were developed. By the propylphosphonic anhydride (T3P®)-mediated Kabachnik–Fields reaction of 2-alkynylbenzaldehydes, aniline, and dialkyl phosphites, α-amino (2-alkynylphenyl)-methylphosphonates were obtained selectively in high yields. The method developed is a simple operation and did not require a chromatographic separation since the products could be isolated from the reaction mixture by a simple extraction. At the same time, 2,3-disubstituted-1,2-dihydroisoquinolin-1-ylphosphonates could be prepared effectively from the same kinds of starting materials (2-alkynylbenzaldehydes, aniline, and dialkyl phosphites) at 60 °C in a short reaction time by changing the catalyst for CuCl. Therefore, it was proved that the catalyst system applied played a crucial role with respect to the reaction outcome.

A robust, facile, and solvent-free route for the three-component synthesis of 2H-indazolo[2,1-b]phthalazine-triones in the presence of a catalytic amount ofp-toluene sulfonic acid utilizing grinding has been developed. Short reaction time, simple operation, and high yields are the advantages of this protocol.

A convenient synthesis of 1,5-fused 1,2,4-triazoles from readily available N-arylamidines is reported. The reaction is efficiently promoted by chloramine-T to afford the desired products mostly in high yields and in relatively short time, through direct metal-free oxidative N−N bond formation. The mild nature of the synthesis and short reaction time are notable advantages of the developed protocol. This protocol is effective toward various substrates having different functionalities.

AbstractFor the first time, synthesis of AB ring core of camptothecin synthons such as (2-chloroquinolin-3-yl)methanols (Va-Vg) using zinc oxide nanoparticles is reported. The desired attractive products were obtained in high yields, short reaction time, using a simple work-up procedure with the purification of products by non-chromatographic methods.

AbstractRecently magnetic nanocatalyst has attracted considerable attention because of its unique properties, including high performance, easy separation from the reaction mixture, and recyclability. In this study, a novel magnetic bionanocomposite was synthesized with chitosan and tannic acid as a natural material. The synthesized bionanocatalyst was characterized by essential analysis. Fe3O4@chitosan-tannic acid as a heterogeneous nanocatalyst was successfully applied to synthesize pyranopyrazole and its derivatives by a one-pot four-component reaction of malononitrile, ethyl acetoacetate, hydrazine hydrate, and various aromatic aldehyde. At the end of the reaction, the nanocatalyst was separated from the reaction mixture and was reused several times with no significant decrease in its catalytic performance. Simple purification of products, the ability for recovering and reusing the nanocatalyst, eco-friendliness, high yields of pure products, mild reaction conditions, short reaction time, non-toxicity, economically affordable are some of the advantages of using the fabricated nanocatalyst in the synthesis of pyranopyrazole.

AbstractNanorod vanadatesulfuric acid (VSA NRs), as a recyclable and eco-benign catalyst, was used for one-pot synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles and 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles using aldehydes, benzil, benzoin or 9,10-phenanthrenequinone and ammonium acetate or aniline under solvent-free conditions providing high to excellent yields. VSA is easily prepared by a simple reaction of chlorosulfonic acid and sodium metavanadate in high purity. As compared with the conventional procedures, the present protocol offers several advantages such as simplicity of procedure, short reaction time, high yields, easy workup, recoverability and reusability of the catalyst and simple purification of the products.

AbstractSpiro[cyclohexane-1,3’-indoline]-2,2’-diones were easily prepared in good to high yields by the oxidation of N-aryl-N-methyl-2-oxocyclohexane-1-carboxamides in one pot with a short reaction time. The spiroindolinediones could be important for the total synthesis of natural products.

A simple and efficient microwave (MW)-assisted method was elaborated for the catalyst-free synthesis of isoindolin-1-one-3-phosphonates by the three-component condensation of 2-formylbenzoic acid, aliphatic primary amines and various dialkyl phosphites. The batch and the continuous flow reactions were optimized in respect of the temperature, the reaction time and the molar ratio of the starting materials. To evaluate the potential of MW irradiation, comparative thermal experiments were also carried out. In order to obtain “real time” information about the condensation, the special Kabachnik–Fields reaction of 2-formylbenzoic acid, butylamine and diethyl phosphite was monitored by in situ FT-IR spectroscopy. The novel title compounds could be prepared in high yields at low temperature under a short reaction time. A suitable method could also be developed for the preparation of the isoindolin-1-one-3-phosphonates at a “few g” scale by using a continuous flow MW reactor.

AbstractA convenient method for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans by a one-pot three-component cyclocondensation of dimedone, aryl aldehydes, and malononitrile in water using silica gel-supported polyphosphoric acid (PPA-SiO2) as an efficient and reusable catalyst is described. The present methodology offers several advantages, such as a simple procedure with ease of handling, short reaction time, high yields, and the absence of any volatile and hazardous organic solvents.
