The pyrithione derivative, bis{2-[(1-oxidopyridin-2-yl)sulfanyl]-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-3-ium} tetrachlorocuprate(2-) (1a) has been obtained by the reaction of one equivalent of 2-[(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)thio]pyridine 1-oxide hydrochloride with one and a half equivalents of copper (II) chloride dihydrate in methanol in a very good yield. The structure of this product was confirmed by X-ray crystallography, infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.

A novel metalorganic coordination polymer, namely [Co3(bpd)5.5(NCS)6(NH3)]n2H2O (1) (bpd=1,4-bis (4-pyridyl)-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 presents 2D[3,4,-connected 3-nodal net with the point symbol (4268210)(4462)(8210). In addition, four identical 2D single nets is interlocked with each other in parallel, thus directly leading to the formation of a polycatenated layer (2D2D).

The lead(II) Complex constructed with 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid, [Pb3(5-hipa)2]n•4H2O(1), (5-hipa = 5-hydro- xyisophthalic acid) has been synthesized by hydrothermal methods and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray single crystal diffraction. In trinuclear symmetrical complex 1, Pb1 is four-coordinated, Pb2 and Pb3 are three-coordinated by 5-nitroisophthalic acid groups, respectively, which is further connected through intermolecular hydrogen bonds resulting in a three-dimensional (3D) network.

The reaction of (–)-β-pinene with KCN under a mild bridged Ritter reaction gave (1S,5R,6S)-2,2,6-trimethyl-3-aza-bicyclo[3.3.1]non-3-en-6-yl acetate that subsequently reacted to provide an unexpected (1S,4R,5R,6S)-4-cyano-2,2,6-trimethyl-3-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-6-yl acetate. The structure of the compound was determined by high-resolution mass spectrometry, and IR and NMR spectroscopy and confirmed by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The compound crystallises in the monoclinic P21 space group, with unit cell parameters a 8.6120 (17), b 7.4570 (15), c 11.189 (2) Å, and β 110.16 (3)°.

A new Lindqvist polyoxometalate-based hybrid compound with a helical chain structure, [Cu(bipy)2][W6O19] (1), (bipy = 2;20`-bipyridine), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the space group C2/c of the monoclinic system. In 1, the [W6O19]2- anions are connected alternately with [Cu(bipy)2]2+ subunits to form a meso-helical chain. To our knowledge, this structure represents the first example of a helical chain structure consisting of the hexatungstate anion [W6O19]2-. The electrochemical properties of the title compound have been studied.

The synthesis and the characterization of the complex salt [Au(tBu2PH)2][HCl2] (2) resulting from the reaction of hydrogen tetrachloridoaurate(III) hydrate with tBu2PH in dichloromethane at room temperature is reported. Single crystals of 2 have been analyzed by X-ray crystallography: monoclinic, P21=c, Z = 12, a = 12:0805(3), b = 12:3729(4), c = 46:7506(13) Å ; ß = 90:948(2)°; V = 6986:9(3) Å3; T = 173(2) K. The hydrogen bihalide anions [HCl2]- fill the interstices between the large complex cations [Au(tBu2PH)2]+ in the crystal.

The title compound was synthesised and its structure determined by X-ray crystallography. The structure contains a hydrogen bond between the OH group of the alcohol and the phosphoryl oxygen atom. The P–N bond lengths are significantly different and the differences can be attributed to varying ρπ—dπ interactions along the bonds.

The title compound was synthesized and its structure determined by X-ray crystallography. The NPPh3 substituent adopts a type I conformation with its nitrogen and phosphorus atoms coplanar with the ring. The compound, the first asymmetric 1,3,5-triazine to be crystallographically investigated, shows significant variations in ring bond lengths and angles; these are discussed.

Three substituted 2,2'-bipyridine adducts of lead(II) thenoyltrifluoroacetonate, [Pb(4,4'-dm-2,2’- bpy)(ttfa)2]2, 1, [Pb(5,5' -dm-2,2’-bpy)(ttfa)2]2, 2, and [Pb(4,4'-dmo-2,2’-bpy)(ttfa)2], 3, (4,4’ -dm- 2,2’-bpy, 5,5’-dm-2,2’-bpy, 4,4’-dmo-2,2’-bpy and ttfa are the abbreviations for 4,4’-dimethyl-, 5,5’-dimethyl-, and 4,4’-dimethoxy-2,2’-bipyridine, and thenoyltrifluoroacetonate, respectively) have been synthesized, characterized by elemental and thermal analysis, IR and 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy, and studied by X-ray crystallography. The supramolecular features in these complexes are guided/controlled by weak directional intermolecular interactions.
