This paper presents the value proposition of blockchain for Port Community Systems (PCS) by dissecting the business processes in port logistics and unfolding functionalities of blockchain in lowering the transaction cost. This paper contributes to the research by a detailed technical assessment of the plethora of currently available blockchain platforms and consensus mechanisms, against the identified requirements in this specific use case. The results of this technical assessment highlight the central value proposition of blockchain for landlord ports, which is independency from a central authority as the controlling agent. Bridging between two research domains of Information Technology and Logistics, this paper proposes the preferred architectural design requirements of a blockchain-based PCS, including provisioning private sidechains, modular design with inter-chain interoperability, and encrypted off-chain data storage. Availability—the readiness for correct service, and reliability—the continuity of correct service, are heavily reliant on the right choice being made for blockchain design for such a complex use case. A preliminary comparative analysis among different decentralisation levels in this paper suggests that a permissioned public blockchain offers the best trade-off in performance measures for this use case. This technical review identifies six research agenda from a design perspective.

Ease and support for cloud-based data storage It has supported an increase in the number of cloud services. The increasing number of uses for cloud services also increases the number of digital-based criminal actions related to the addition of facilities to cloud services. The cloud service feature designed to store data to support the smooth running of business processes can be misused by criminal assistance to store crime data. Accurate digital evidence is one way to prove a digital crime, which can then be used as supporting evidence in the trial. This study discusses the analysis of digital evidence from a cloud service. The analysis process using the NIST 800-86 method is carried out on digital evidence from 5 previously prepared scenarios related to the use of cloud service features that use being misused. Data acquisition techniques use the method of direct acquisition and physical imaging to obtain digital evidence. The experimental results showed that after scenario 1 and scenario 3, information on the file name and directory of the paths downloaded by client 1 and client 2 were obtained with information on the IP address, mac address, user name, password and time stamp. After scenario 2, digital evidence has been obtained that contains information on the name and location of the folder on the cloud server. After scenario 4, information on the name of the file and the shared folder is successfully obtained, equipped with client information that has the right to access the files and folders. After scenario 5, information about the file name and directory of the file path is successfully obtained.

PurposeBlockchain technology can be used to record virtually anything of value – your identity, a will, a deed or almost any type of secure transfer of information. But in many respects, blockchain is lacking some critical capabilities to make it ready for widescale adoption by business. This paper on IBM blockchain attempts to uncover the promise of blockchain for enterprise, which goes beyond its role as an industry disruptor. It also has tremendous potential to improve existing business processes, as well as to improve efficiencies in existing transaction systems, leading to exponential cost saving for the enterprise and the end consumer. Disintermediation and disruption is the investment magnet for blockchain-related ideas, riding on the success of the business and underpinned by peer-to-peer and crowdsourcing models. Blockchain technology promises a similar explosion in trade, ownership and trust, as the tenets of both technologies rely on principles of distributed governance and rules established for a time-tested protocol.Design/methodology/approachThe idea behind defining the path to blockchain enterprise adoption is to ensure that we have a microscopic focus on a singular use case and that we distill the existing business into a blockchain paradigm. This implies both business and technology models. We take a singular use case that has an industry and enterprise impact and apply business and technology acumen to the problem domain.FindingsThe result is a well-thought-out business architecture and technology blueprint, along with requirements for compliance, audit and enterprise integration. The point of this exercise is to expend time and energy with the right business domain expertise and blockchain technology expertise to derive an adoption model that enlists and surfaces hurdles, challenges and factors in the costs and economic viability of the blockchain solution.Originality/valueThe resulting artifacts/collateral of the blockchain client led engagement are envisioned to be instrumental in socialization and in providing a blueprint for a business seeking executive sponsorship and the necessary funding for first project.

AbstractValue sensitive design (VSD) is an established method for integrating values into technical design. It has been applied to different technologies and, more recently, to artificial intelligence (AI). We argue that AI poses a number of challenges specific to VSD that require a somewhat modified VSD approach. Machine learning (ML), in particular, poses two challenges. First, humans may not understand how an AI system learns certain things. This requires paying attention to values such as transparency, explicability, and accountability. Second, ML may lead to AI systems adapting in ways that ‘disembody’ the values embedded in them. To address this, we propose a threefold modified VSD approach: (1) integrating a known set of VSD principles (AI4SG) as design norms from which more specific design requirements can be derived; (2) distinguishing between values that are promoted and respected by the design to ensure outcomes that not only do no harm but also contribute to good, and (3) extending the VSD process to encompass the whole life cycle of an AI technology to monitor unintended value consequences and redesign as needed. We illustrate our VSD for AI approach with an example use case of a SARS-CoV-2 contact tracing app.

Today’s Navy ships are some of the most complex vessels being manufactured. As such, there are a multitude of stakeholders and requirements that must be satisfied through all phases of construction. Manufacturing issues invariably arise and must be tracked from initial documenting through to resolution. Given the number and types of stakeholders involved in the manufacturing process, this can lead to information silos with multiple groups having differing views into each other’s data (if they have a view at all). While the shipyards have their internal quality (lien) management systems, the Navy system of record for outstanding issues is the Technical Support Maintenance (TSM) system. Lacking an efficient interface between TSM and the shipbuilders organic lien management systems and a mobile component that can be taken to the ship , the TSM system is cumbersome and is yet another source of siloed information. Additionally, once a manufacturing issue has reached the TSM system there can be a significant dollar value attached to resolution. Resolving issues once they have reached the Navy’s system of record can extend production schedules to the right and significantly impact total construction cost and delivery of the product and the value proposition of a program.

There is a gap of knowledge between practitioners about the off-site construction. For this reason, the Manni Group case study presented in this article highlights the positive role of dissemination as business value proposition support in the context of off-site construction industry. The Manni Group involved opinion leaders, professionals, universities and industrial partners in a network of dissemination that, going beyond the concept of advertising, it generated a multiple effect of value creation between the direct and indirect involved stakeholders. Dissemination emerges as a model of action that creates impacts on cultural change. It is scalable and applicable in many areas where actors have the right competences to manage the dissemination. Wherever there is a knowledge gap or friction towards new techniques and methodologies, the model is able to create value for companies and stakeholders involved in the emerging network.

<p><b>The landscape concealed beneath the concrete surfaces of our cities is replete with heritage stories representing the transformative evolution of the land, our culture and our ever-evolving society. The architecture upon these urban landscapes, however, is often only challenged to represent an architectural style (aesthetic), function (programme) or a public mask (branding) of the building. As a result, architecture tends to neglect the evolving identity of its context, allowing the stories of the site’s heritage to become lost beneath the growing layers of urban development. This thesis asks:How can urban architecture help to reawaken the transformative heritage stories that form place identity, enabling architecture as well as its inhabitants to have a place to stand | tūrangawaewae?</b></p> <p>Place identity for Māori is embodied in the concept of tūrangawaewae––a place to stand. For Māori, the place where a person learns important life lessons and feels a connection with their ancestors is usually the marae. In this place they have earned the right to stand up and make their voices heard. In this place they are empowered and connected to both the land and to one another. Tūrangawaewae––a place to stand––embodies the fundamental concept of our connection to place (“Papatūānuku – the land”). The research site selected to explore this question is the urban area in and around Te Aro Park in central Wellington, which was once the site of Te Aro Pā. This site provides the thesis with a rich polyvalent layering of stories, interweaving landscape heritage, Māori heritage and colonial heritage within a single architectural context. This thesis is framed as an ‘allegorical architectural project’, which is defined by Penelope Haralambidou as a critical method for architectural design research that is often characterised by speculative architectural drawing. The allegorical architectural project integrates design and text to critically reflect on architecture in relation to topics such as art, science and politics (Haralambidou, “The Fall”, 225).</p> <p>The design-led research investigation explores how an allegorical architectural project can help to enable urban architecture to reawaken the transformative heritage stories that form place identity—utilising speculative architectural drawing as a fundamental tool for enabling architecture as well as its inhabitants to manifest a sense of belonging. The thesis proposes an allegorical architectural project as a research vehicle through which place identity can be challenged and fulfilled. By positioning an architectural intervention and its context within a dialectic confrontation, it examines how an allegorical architectural project can represent and communicate the temporal and multi-layered nature of place identity within a static architectural outcome.</p> <p>By reconnecting architecture with site, and interpreting this connection allegorically within the design process, this thesis investigates how architecture can allegorically become the living inhabitant of a site, where the site itself gives architecture its tūrangawaewae, a place to stand.</p>

The purpose of the research is to present the features of digitization of business processes in enterprises as a foundation on which the gradual formation of Industry 4.0 and the search for economic growth in new virtual reality, which has every chance to be a decisive step in implementing digital strategy for Ukraine and development of the innovation ecosystem. Key problems that arise during the digitalization of business processes in enterprises are presented, among which are: the historical orientation of production to mass, “running” sizes and large batches; large-scale production load; the complexity of cooperation and logic between production sites. It is determined that high-quality and effective tools of innovation-digital transformation in the conditions of virtual reality should include: a single system of on-line order management for all enterprises (application registration – technical expertise – planning – performance control – shipment); Smart Factory, Predictive Maintenance, IIoT, CRM, SCM. Features of digital transformation in the part of formation of enterprises of the ecosystem of Industry 4.0 are revealed. The capabilities and benefits of using Azure cloud platform in enterprises, which includes more than 200 products and cloud services, are analyzed. Azure is said to support open source technologies, so businesses have the ability to use tools and technologies they prefer and are more useful. After conducting a thorough analysis of the acceleration of deep digitalization of business processes by enterprises, authors proposed to put into practice Aruba solution for tracking contacts in the fight against COVID-19. Aruba technology helps locate, allowing you to implement flexible solutions based on Aruba Partner Ecosystem using a USB interface. It is proposed to use SYNTEGRA – a data integration service that provides interactive analytics and provides data models and dashboards in order to accelerate the modernization of data storage and management, optimize reporting in the company and obtain real-time analytics. The possibilities of using Azure cloud platform during the digitization of business processes of enterprises of the ecosystem of Industry 4.0 in the conditions of virtual reality are determined.
