This study aimed to explore the effects of type and specifications of bus stop on bicycle speed and cycle track capacity. This paper investigates the traffic flow operations of tracks at basic sections, curbside stops, and bus bays by video recording. T-test and comparative study were used to analyze the influences of stop types on bicycle speed and capacity of track. The relationships between stop specifications and speed and capacity of track are analyzed with correlation analysis. The main results are as follows: (1) Without passengers crossing, bus bays have significant impact on bicycle speed, while it is not for curbside stops; (2) except platform length, there are strong negative relationships between bicycle speed and density of platform access, total width of platform accesses (TWPA), total width of platform accesses-to-platform length ratio (TWPA-to-PL ratio), total width of platform accesses-to-track width ratio (TWPA-to-TW ratio); (3) curbside stop and bus bay reduce track capacities by 32% and 13.5% on average, respectively; and (4) in contrast to bus bays, curbside stops have more significant impact on capacity of track, which also presents in the influence of the setting parameters of stops. Based the results above, some suggestions on stop specifications are finally proposed.

Numerical calculations by a transfer matrix method have been performed to obtain the transmission coefficient of rectangular double barrier structures. The dependence of the well width, barrier width and the barrier height was systematically investigated. When the width ratio of the two barriers was varied on condition that a total width was fixed, the transmission coefficient at a resonance is varied while that at a valley region is not. It is concluded that the resonant tunneling is characterized by two parameters: total width and the width ratio. Our results clarify the transition of transmission spectrum from a single barrier to a double barrier structure.

Setting state of bus stop affects the efficiency of the entire road system. Through discussing bus bay stop’s width, length and distance to intersection, a microscopic simulation was conducted in this paper. With a certain bus frequency, the total delay time of vehicles was analyzed under different road traffic in different forms of Da Yanta Bus Station in Xi’an. The results show that setting bus bay stops on the secondary roads which have large traffic flow can significantly reduce delay time, and can provide references for urban road design.

In assessing the human problems which may occur in the development of a traffic system in an offshore area, some lessons may be learnt from the work which has been done on the similar problems arising in port approaches. There are several fundamental differences between the port and offshore problems such as the direction and density of traffic flow, the parochial as opposed to the international legislation and the difficulties that attend the positive identification of passing traffic. These considerations mean that it must not be supposed that the solutions which have been discovered in the port approaches may be simply transferred to the offshore case, but the similarity of aims in the two systems make a comparative study worthwhile. Basically, each authority must first legislate to allow control and guidance of the traffic. From this right to control must stem the obligation to organize the traffic into a scheduled stream, but this regulated stream will only reduce the risk of conflict if the schedule can be maintained by surveillance, communication and the cooperation of the mariner.

The relevance of the manuscript is due to the need to process and analyze the information accumulated by the complexes of photo-video recording of traffic violations, which will further develop mathematical, computational and simulation models of road transport, solve problems of optimization and management of traffic flows, make management decisions to reduce the number of congestion and reduce the anthropogenic load on the environment. The object of the study is a part of a three-lane road with heavy one-way traffic, equipped with a software and technical complex that allows measuring the main characteristics of the traffic flow (vehicle speeds, including the average values on the controlled road part, driving time, etc.). The subject of the study is the traffic flow intensity during a 7-day time (from Monday to Sunday). The analysis of the obtained dependences allowed us to formulate a hypothesis about the presence of determin- istic and stochastic components in the traffic flow intensity, which is a random function of time, and the verification of which is the purpose of this study. Statistical processing of the obtained data is used as a theoretical and methodological approach, as well as the assumption that the traffic flow intensity can be represented by the sum of deterministic and stochastic components. The developed approach using the smoothing procedure allowed us to select both components, and this is a scientific novelty of the analysis performed. As a result of the study, it is shown that the deterministic component of the traffic flow intensity for working days is qualitatively different from the deterministic component for weekends. Statistical indicators of probabilistic distributions of traffic flow intensities and random components selected from them are determined. Estimates of the correspondence of the selected curves to the normal law of probability distribution are obtained using the Kolmogorov and Pearson criteria, which contradict each other. Practical significance consists in the use of a deterministic component for predicting traffic flows, controlling the operation of traffic lights, monitoring the operation of equipment, as well as in the reconstruction, design and construction of roads and road objects. The direction of further research is to obtain, statistically process and generalize data on the traffic flows intensity in other parts of the road network.

The aim of this study was to identify the relationships between the variation of match variables and teams’ match performance. Data from all 768 matches played at the group stage of the UEFA Champions League from season 2009/1010 to 2016/2017 were analysed. The non-clinical magnitude-based inferences were used to identify the differences of technical variation between the teams. Autocorrelation function, correlation analysis and generalised linear model were used to examine the relationships between the variation of match variables and teams’ match performance. Results showed that the qualified teams demonstrated a more stable match performance on the variables related to goal scoring, attacking and passing, while the non-qualified teams displayed a more stable match performance on the variables related to defending. The coefficients of variation (CV) of all the variables related to goal scoring and the variables related to attacking and passing showed negative relationships with the teams’ match performance, while the CVs of the variables related to defending showed positive relationships with the teams’ match performance. Findings of this study can provide useful information about the fluctuation of match variables, contributing to the development of specific training interventions to enhance teams’ performance in key indicators.
