In the current era, the desire for high boost DC-to-DC converter development has increased. Notably, there has been voltage gain improvement without adding extra power switches, and a large number of passive components have advanced. Magnetically coupled isolated converters are suggested for the higher voltage gain. These converters use large size inductors, and thus the non-isolated traditional boost, Cuk and Sepic converters are modified to increase their gain by adding an extra switch, inductors and capacitors. These converters increase circuit complexity and become bulky. In this paper, we present a hybrid high voltage gain non-isolated single switch converter for photovoltaic applications. The proposed converter connects the standard conventional Cuk and boost converter in parallel for providing continuous current mode operation with the help of a single power switch, which gives less voltage stress on controlled switch and diodes. The proposed hybrid topology uses a single switch with a lower component-count and provides a higher voltage gain than non-isolated traditional converters. The converter circuit mode of operation, operating performance, mathematical derivations and steady-state exploration and circuit parameters design procedures are deliberated in detail. The proposed hybrid converter circuit components, voltage gain and performance, were compared with other topologies in the literature. The MATLAB/Simulink simulation study and microcontroller-based experimental laboratory prototype of 150 W were implemented. The simulation study and experimentation results were confirmed to be a satisfactory agreement with the theoretical analysis. This topology produced non-inverting output in continuous input current mode using a single switch with high voltage gain (≈5.116 gain) with a maximum efficiency of 92.2% under full load.

In this article, design, analysis, and experimental testing of a dual interleaved boost converter with coupled inductor including demagnetizing winding are presented. Proposed topology uses the specific design of boost coils placed within the side parts of the EE core together with a demagnetizing coil located on the center part of the core. Paper describes principles of operational scenarios and characteristics. Through modification of turns ratio between boost coils and demagnetizing coil is possible to achieve high voltage gain. Consequently, the functional performance of this perspective topology is realized experimentally. For that purpose, the physical sample of converter is designed and tested in terms of efficiency considering the change of transferred power or the change of input voltage. Through modification of turns ratio between boost coils and demagnetizing coil is possible to achieve high voltage gain, therefore these dependencies are also evaluated considering also the change of the duty cycle. At the end of the paper basic operational properties are compared to standard boost topologies. It was discovered that even due to higher complexity of the proposed converter oppose to selected topologies, the operational performance is much better considering ripple of the electrical variables, efficiency, or the size of circuit components.

The need to increase the voltage level produced by PV systems becomes an urgent task to be compatible with the requirements of the AC load, but we meet problems in the operation of the step-up converter at a high duty cycle which is not preferred due to the reduction in voltage gain, and also a higher number of turns ratio in the windings inductance coupled adds to the overall losses of the converter. This article proposes an improved DC-DC converter with a lower duty cycle by integrating three tapped-inductors in new topology, which combined quadratic boost converter and tapped-inductor boost converter. The proposed converter achieves a high voltage gain with a lower duty ratio (Gmax = 14.32) and a maximum efficiency of 98.68% is improved compared to the voltage gain and efficiency results of these converters in several recently published references. The analyses are done theoretically and supported with simulation results. A prototype of the proposed converter has been built to experimentally validate the obtained results.

In the last few years, the non-isolated dc converters involving high voltage gain with adequate performance are becoming quite popular in industrial applications. This is resulting in high voltage and current stress on the power device (switches and diodes), as well as a limited output voltage with a high duty cycle. This paper proposes a multi-phase non-isolated boost converter that uses capacitor clamping to increase output voltage while reducing stress across the power device. There are two stages in the proposed converter (first stage is three inductors and three switches and the second stage is clamper circuit of three capacitors and three diodes). The proposed converter is high voltage gain, with low voltage stress through switches transistors. To justify the theoretical analysis, the concept was validated through mathematical analysis and by simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results carried out the results permit the converter behavior and performance to be accurately.

High step-up DC-DC converters are necessary in photovoltaic energy generation, due the low voltage of the panels source. This article propose the Doubler Output Coupled Inductor converter. This converter is based in boost converter and utilize switched capacitors and a coupled inductor to maximize the static voltage gain. The converter achieve a high voltage gain with low turns ratio in the coupled inductor and an acceptable duty cycle. Can highlight the converter utilize low number of components and have low voltage and current stresses in semiconductors. To validate and evaluate the operation of the converter a 200W prototype is simulated.

AbstractHigh switching frequency and high voltage gain DC-DC boost converters are required for electric vehicles. In this paper, a new high step-up boost converter (HSBC) is designed for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) applications. The designed converter provides the better high voltage gain compared to conventional boost converter and also reduces the input current ripples and voltage stress on power semiconductor switches. In addition to this, a neural network based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is designed for the 1.26 kW proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Radial basis function network (RBFN) algorithm is used in the neural network controller to extract the maximum power from PEMFC at different temperature conditions. The performance analysis of the designed MPPT controller is analyzed and compared with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) in MATLAB/Simulink environment.

To improve the voltage gain of step-up converters, the cascaded technique is considered as a possible solution in this paper. By considering the concept of cascading two Z-source networks in a conventional boost converter, the proposed topology takes the advantages of both impedance source and cascaded converters. By applying some modifications, the proposed converter provides high voltage gain while the voltage stress of the switch and diodes is still low. Moreover, the low input current ripple of the converter makes it absolutely appropriate for photovoltaic applications in expanding the lifetime of PV panels. After analyzing the operation principles of the proposed converter, we present the simulation and experimental results of a 100 W prototype to verify the proposed converter performance.

Direct current to direct current (DC/DC) converters are required to have higher voltage gains in some applications for electric vehicles, high-voltage level charging systems and fuel cell electric vehicles. Therefore, it is greatly important to carry out research on high voltage gain DC/DC converters. To improve the efficiency of high voltage gain DC/DC converters and solve the problems of output voltage ripple and robustness, this paper proposes a double-boost DC/DC converter. Based on the small-signal model of the proposed converter, a double closed-loop controller with voltage–current feedback and input voltage feedforward is designed. The experimental results show that the maximum efficiency of the proposed converter exceeds 95%, and the output voltage ripple factor is 0.01. Compared with the traditional boost converter and multi-phase interleaved DC/DC converter, the proposed topology has certain advantages in terms of voltage gain, device stress, number of devices, and application of control algorithms.
