Artificial intelligence has experienced major developments in recent years and represents an emerging technology that will revolutionize the ways in which human beings live. This technology is already being introduced in the field of higher education, although many teachers are unaware of its scope and, above all, of what it consists of. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to analyse the scientific production on artificial intelligence in higher education indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases during 2007–2017. A bespoke methodology of bibliometric studies was used in the most relevant databases in social science. The sample was composed of 132 papers in total. From the results obtained, it was observed that there is a worldwide interest in the topic and that the literature on this subject is just at an incipient stage. We conclude that, although artificial intelligence is a reality, the scientific production about its application in higher education has not been consolidated.

Nutrition-related education is necessary to protect and improve the health status of schoolchildren and to minimize the risk of future diseases. The objective of this research was to analyze the trajectory and transcendence of the concepts “education” and “diet” in the Web of Science literature. The methodology focused on bibliometry, analyzing both the performance and the structural and dynamic development of the concepts through a co-word analysis. A total of 1247 documents were analyzed, and the results show that scientific production experienced a turning point in 2009, in comparison to the level of production reported in previous years. The medium of papers and the language of English were the most common. In relation to the research topic, before 2014, scientific production focused on medical and disease-related aspects; however, since 2014, it has focused on disease prevention and feeding. It was therefore concluded that the theme “diet and education” has been researched for more than 20 years, although it is only in the last decade that it has become more relevant—particularly studies focusing on disease prevention and the type of food, specifically fruit, which is presented as the most outstanding issue for researchers in this field of knowledge.

Technification in agriculture has resulted in the inclusion of more efficient companies that have evolved into a more complex sector focused on production and quality. Artificial intelligence, one of the relevant areas of technology, is transforming the agriculture sector by reducing the consumption and use of resources. This research uses a bibliometric methodology and a fractional counting method of clustering to analyze the scientific literature on the topic, reviewing 2629 related documents recorded on the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The study found significant results regarding the most relevant and prolific authors (Hoogenboom), supporting research organizations (National Natural Science Foundation of China) and countries (U.S., China, India, or Iran). The identification of leaders in this field gives researchers new possibilities for new lines of research based on previous studies. An in-depth examination of authors’ keywords identified different clusters and trends linking Artificial Intelligence and green economy, sustainable development, climate change, and the environment.

COVID-19 forced higher education institutions to reinvent themselves. The (usually) face-to-face education has swapped to distance contingency education. This change brought about numerous challenges that impose adjustments in several dimensions, such as pedagogical strategies and the dependence on teaching platforms and computer systems—and, above all, the new relationship between the various actors (students, teachers, and management staff). All the sudden changes, combined with uncertainty concerning what was happening, created several strategies and options. This paper has the main purpose of analyzing the scientific production on higher education of EU27 academic institutions during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic in journals indexed in Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science and Elsevier’s Scopus. The sample is composed of 22 articles in total. The results show that the articles were published in 19 journals; their main focuses are Higher Education, COVID-19, and distance learning. In our database, we find several types of concerns, which shows that HEIs have a wide range of dimensions. We intend this article to be an instrument, not only to identify what was done in 2020, but to point out clues for the future.

ABSTRACT Objective: to investigate the biological activities of interest to the health of Jatropha multifida plant species in published scientific literature. Methods: this is an integrative review, with searches between May and June 2019, using the descriptors, combined through the Boolean operator AND, Jatropha multifida, anti-infective agents, wound healing, cytotoxicity and antioxidants, in LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE, SciFinder, Web of Science and Scopus databases and in the virtual libraries SciELO and ScienceDirect. Results: twelve publications were retrieved that showed nine biological activities. The antioxidant activity was reported in 04 (33.33%) studies; antimicrobial and anticancer, addressed by 03 (25%) and 02 (16.66%); anti-inflammatory, anti-melanin deposition, healing, antiophidic, purgative and anti-influenza, seen in 01 (8.33%) each. Final considerations: although scarce, the published scientific production highlights the biological potential of J. multifida and supports the need for further studies.

AbstractThe bibliometric studies applied to the scientific production of universities can provide valuable information for the decision-making process related to research planning and evaluation. The objective of this paper is to represent and to analyze the research profile of the Industrial Engineering School of the Polytechnic University of Havana José Antonio Echeverría (Cujae) in Cuba, by means of a bibliometric study applied to its scientific production indexed in the databases Scopus and Web of Science during the period 2003-2012. There were evaluated internationally validated indicators for the quantitative and qualitative dimension of the  production, as well as indicators for the scientific collaboration, which allowed the determination of the visibility and impact of these publications at international level. By means of the comparison of the results, it was possible the assessment of the contribution of the School to the position of Cujae in the several editions of the SIR Latin American ranking. It was concluded that, even though there has been a positive tendency in the number of articles in the last years, the percentage of papers in international collaboration is low and the average of cites per paper is below the tendency described in the literature.

Digital pathology (DIPA) has become an effective discipline that generates a graphic environment to diagnose and interpret the pathological information of people. When analyzing the existing literature on DIPA, a knowledge gap was produced by not reporting a study that has bibliometrically analyzed the publications on the subject. The objective of this study is to analyze the scientific production and performance achieved by the term digital pathology in the Web of Science (WoS) database. For this, a methodology based on bibliometrics has been carried out, complemented by the scientific mapping technique to search, recorder, analyze and predict the scientific literature on the state of question. We have worked with an analysis unit of 1222 documents reported from WoS database. The results show that there is no research topic in the field of study of DIPA that stands out from the rest. A conceptual gap can be observed in the thematic development, given that there is no theme that is repeated in all periods, where the connections are more thematic than conceptual. There are key documents for different topics. The main themes have been very different over the years like telepathology and artificial intelligence.
