Background: Electronic medical records (EMRs) offer a promising approach to mapping and documenting the complex information gathered in paediatric palliative care (PPC). However, if they are not well developed, poorly implemented EMRs have unintended consequences that may cause harm to patients. One approach to preventing such harm is the involvement of users in the participatory design to ensure user acceptance and patient safety. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the acceptance of a novel patient chart module (PCM) as part of an EMR from the perspective of potential users in PPC and to involve these professionals in the design process. Methods: A qualitative observational study with N = 16 PPC professionals (n = 10 nurses, n = 6 physicians) was conducted, including concurrent think aloud (CTA) and semi-structured interviews. A structured content analysis based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology was applied. Results: The results can be summarized in terms of general observations, performance expectancy, effort expectancy and facilitating conditions, all of which are likely to have a positive influence on acceptance of the PCM from the user perspective in the context of PPC. Conclusions: The involvement of users in the development of EMRs is important for meeting the requirements in PPC. Further software adaptations are necessary to implement these requirements.

Background: Electronic medical records (EMRs) play a key role in improving documentation and quality of care in paediatric palliative care (PPC). Inadequate EMR design can cause incorrect prescription and administration of medications. Due to the fact of complex diseases and the resulting high level of medical complexity, patients in PPC are vulnerable to medication errors. Consequently, involving users in the development process is important. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the acceptance of a medication module from the perspective of potential users in PPC and to involve them in the development process. Methods: A qualitative observational study was conducted with 10 nurses and four physicians using a concurrent think-aloud protocol and semi-structured qualitative interviews. A qualitative content analysis was applied based on a unified theory of acceptance and use of technology. Results: Requirements from the user’s perspective could be identified as possible influences on acceptance and actual use. Requirements were grouped into the categories “performance expectancies” and “effort expectancies”. Conclusions: The results serve as a basis for further development. Attention should be given to the reduction of display fragmentation, as it decreases cognitive load. Further approaches to evaluation should be taken.

Background: Pediatric palliative care (PPC) patients experience years of multisectoral and professional care. An electronic cross-facility health record (ECHR) system can support the immediate exchange of information among PPC professionals. Based on a needs assessment, a prototype ECHR system was developed. Methods: To evaluate potential users’ perspective regarding the system, a qualitative observational study was conducted consisting of a concurrent think-aloud session and a semi-structured qualitative interview. Results: Twenty PPC professionals (nurses, physicians) from specialized outpatient PPC teams, a PPC unit, and medical offices rated the ECHR system as a helpful tool to improve the exchange and collection of information, communication between PPC professionals, and treatment planning. From the user’s point of view, the basic logic of the ECHR system should be further adapted to improve the interaction of data remirrored from patient records of outpatient and inpatient care with those entered via the system. The users wished for further functions (text search) and content (information on therapies). Some content, such as the treatment process, needs to be further adapted. Conclusion: The developed ECHR system needs to be more specific in some features by offering all available information; while for other features, be less specific to offer a quick overview. The ability to share information promptly and automatically was seen as a tremendous improvement to the quality of care for PPC patients.

The convenience feature of mobile payment has replaced interactions with physical money and reduced transaction time, which better meets the demand of modern people for convenience in life. As mobile payments play an important role in mobile business, understanding the factors attracting consumers to mobile payment will bring mobile businesses more opportunities for development, and further significantly improve the output value of mobile businesses. This study discusses how to further influence consumer behavioral intention in Taiwan, as based on the main theoretical framework of the Extend Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI). In this study, data analysis is implemented by Partial Least Squares (PLS) for the purpose of verifying the research model and hypotheses. The research results show that social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, compatibility, innovation, relative advantage, and observability have positive influence on consumer intention to use mobile payment.

Technology acceptance is important for identifying elements that influence the user, so it is easy to use apps. The evaluation of technology reception will help to improve the system better in the future and indicate whether the system succeeded or not, so the users will keep using the apps. SHAREit is a program that can be downloaded on the Android Smartphone platform and on personal computers. It is able to transfer documents, pictures, music, and videos rapidly. Even so, the applications are faster than Bluetooth and Wifi. Then, Indonesia is the biggest second market for SHAREit in the world. The research is proposed to detect how the user accepts SHAREit in Kuningan Regency by using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Method. It has been modified. The instrument of research is a questionnaire then distributed to user communities of SHAREit in Kuningan Regency by using Incidental Sampling, instrument testing and data processing Structural Equation Modelling by AMOS apps. Furthermore, the hypothesis is arranged through moderator variables; age, gender, and experience. The result of research indicates that there are three factors possessing positive influence on Behavioral Intention of usage SHAREit, such as Performance Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions. A factor influencing use of behavioral is behavioral intention. Whereas, Personal Innovativeness in the Domain of Information Technology and Effort Expectancy do not influence the Behavioral Intention of SHAREit Apps in Kuningan Regency.

Background: Despite international developments in paediatric palliative care (PPC), nurses continue to report feeling unprepared, anxious and overwhelmed when caring for patients with palliative care needs. There is an identified need throughout the literature for improved education in the area of PPC, as well as the need to improve the support available to families and health professionals in order to provide this specialised care effectively. Aim: To examine the insights of nurses within the acute setting who are caring for children with life-limiting conditions, who have complex and/or palliative care needs in Ireland. Method: This was a qualitative study which used purposive, convenience sampling to gain participants (N=14) and semi-structured interviews to gather data. Thematic analysis was used to discuss the material under five core themes. Findings: Results are discussed under the five core themes of: ‘nurses’ emotive journey when caring for children with life-limiting conditions’, ‘the barriers faced in caring for children with life-limiting conditions in the acute setting’, ‘the facilitators to caring for children with life-limiting conditions in the acute setting’, ‘education and training’ and ‘how nurses cope when a child dies’. Conclusion: Each participant of this study described a particular affection towards caring for children with complex healthcare needs within the acute setting. However, many of the obstacles faced by nurses in the acute setting when providing this care were reported upon, these included inefficient training, education and support, an inadequate nursing environment to provide the desired level of care and the emotional toll of providing such an intense level of care.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the behavioural intention and adoption of internet banking (IB) among clients of local and foreign Islamic banks in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach Survey questionnaires were distributed among the Islamic banks’ clients at two main states, namely, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The number of clients involved is 319 (n = 319). The data was analysed using the partial least square (PLS) and theoretically, the research framework in this study is guided by the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 (UTAUT2). Findings The smart PLS analysis yielded three main outcomes, namely, the variables such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, price value, facilitating conditions and habit have a positive influence over the behavioural intention and subsequently lead to the adoption of IB. The other two variables, namely, social influence and hedonic motivation were negatively-related and insignificant for behavioural intention. Third, this paper also noticed that facilitating conditions and habits have a direct relationship with the adoption of IB. Practical implications Based on the findings, Islamic banks can take necessary action to design a better policy to further accelerate the usage of IB among their client. By identifying those factors, this, perhaps, can allow Islamic banks to invest more ideas on those significant factors that influence their interest, and subsequently leads to good business to Islamic banks as the clients nowadays are looking for simplicity and convenience factors when using IB. Originality/value This research is expected to enhance existing literature on internet banking, especially in Islamic banking research on the technological edge. Limited research has been done in Malaysia, particularly on the intention and continuous adoption of IB in Islamic banks using the UTAUT2 framework. This would be breakthrough research in identifying factors that influence customers’ continuous adoption of IB.
