Based on the ligand H2dpPzda (1), a novel cobalt complex [Co(H2dpPzda)(NCS)2]·CH3OH(2) has been synthesized and characterized. The Complex 2 exhibited excellent catalytic performance for converting CO2 into cyclic carbonates under mild conditions. For propylene oxide (PO) and CO2 synthesis of propylene carbonate (PC), the catalytic system showed a remarkable TOF as high as 29,200 h−1. The catalytic system also showed broad substrate scope of epoxide. Additionally, the catalyst could be recycled to maintain the integrity of the structure and remained equal to the level of its catalytic activity even after seven catalytic rounds. Additionally, a possible catalytic mechanism was proposed due to the high catalytic activity which might be owing to the synergism of Lewis acidic metal centers and N group.

This study is aimed to investigate the effect of Ni precursor salts on the properties (textural, phase-structural, reducibility, and basicity), and catalytic performance of diatomite supported Ni-Mg catalyst in methanation of CO2. The NiMg/D-X catalysts derived from various nickel salts (X = S-sulfamate, N-nitrate or A-acetate) were synthesized by the precipitation-deposition (PD) method. The catalysts were characterized by N2-physisorption, XRD, TPR-H2, and TPD-CO2 techniques. The different catalytic activity (conversion) and selectivity, observed in CO2 methanation carried out under relatively mild conditions (atmospheric pressure; temperatures: 250-450 °C) are related and explained by the difference in textural properties, metallic Ni-crystallite size, reducibility, and basicity of studied catalysts. The results showed that catalyst derived from Ni-nitrate salt (NiMg/D-N) is more suitable for the preparation of efficient catalyst for CO2 methanation than its counterparts derived from sulfamate (NiMg/D-S) or acetate (NiMg/D-A) nickel salt. The NiMg/D-N catalyst showed the highest specific surface area and total basicity, and the best catalytic performance with CO2 conversion of 63.3 % and CH4 selectivity of 80.9 % at 450 °C.

Abstract In this work, with the use of two natural compounds, chitin and sepiolite clay, a novel covalent hybrid is fabricated and applied as a support for the stabilization of silver nanoparticles with the aid of Kombucha extract as a natural reducing agent. The resultant catalytic system, Ag@Sep-N–CH, was characterized via XRD, TEM, FTIR, ICP, SEM, TGA, UV–Vis and BET. It was found that fine Ag(0) nanoparticles with mean diameter of 6.1 ± 1.8 nm were formed on the support and the specific surface area of the catalyst was 130 m2 g−1. The study of the catalytic performance of Ag@Sep-N–CH for catalyzing synthesis of xanthenes in aqueous media under mild reaction condition confirmed that Ag@Sep-N–CH exhibited high catalytic activity and could promote the reaction of various substrates to furnish the corresponding products in high yields. Moreover, the contribution of both chitin and sepiolite to the catalysis has been affirmed. It was found that hybridization of these two components led to synergistic effects and consequently improved the observed catalytic activity. Notably, the catalyst was recyclable up to several reaction runs.

A novel heterogeneous enzyme-palladium (Pd) (0) nanoparticles (PdNPs) bionanohybrid has been synthesized by an efficient, green, and straightforward methodology. A designed Geobacillus thermocatenulatus lipase (GTL) variant genetically and then chemically modified by the introduction of a tailor-made cysteine-containing complementary peptide- was used as the stabilizing and reducing agent for the in situ formation of ultra-small PdNPs nanoparticles embedded on the protein structure. This bionanohybrid was an excellent catalyst in the synthesis of trans-ethyl cinnamate by Heck reaction at 65 °C. It showed the best catalytic performance in dimethylformamide (DMF) containing 10–25% of water as a solvent but was also able to catalyze the reaction in pure DMF or with a higher amount of water as co-solvent. The recyclability and stability were excellent, maintaining more than 90% of catalytic activity after five cycles of use.

Pd–Ni bimetallic nanoparticles (BMNPs) supported on ZrO2 were prepared by an impregnation–reduction method. The BMNPs showed excellent catalytic performance in Suzuki carbon–carbon cross-coupling reactions and almost quantitative conversion of the substrates was obtained under mild conditions in the absence of ligand. The excellent catalytic performance of the bimetallic catalyst could be a result of the synergistic effect between the two metal components. The catalyst showed outstanding recyclability during the reaction process; no obvious decrease in catalytic performance was observed after five cycles.

In this study, a convenient and highly efficient catalytic system for the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction was investigated under mild conditions. A combination of Pd(CH3CN)2Cl2 and pipecolinic acid showed excellent catalytic performance and afforded high turnover numbers; turnover numbers were up to 4.9 × 105 for the coupling reaction of 4-bromobenzoic acid and tetraphenylboron sodium. The catalytic system was also effective for the indexes of 4-bromobenzoic acid, and high turnover numbers were obtained.

One-dimensional (1D) polynuclear Cu(II) complex (1) derived from (5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (H2L) is synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, ESI-MS, and single crystal X-ray crystallography. Its catalytic performance towards the solvent-free microwave-assisted peroxidative oxidation of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons under mild conditions is compared with that of dinuclear Cu(II) complexes (2 and 3) of the same ligand, previously reported as antiproliferative agents. Polymer 1 exhibits the highest activity, either for the oxidation of cyclohexane (leading to overall yields, based on the alkane, of up to 39% of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone) or towards the oxidation of toluene (selectively affording benzaldehyde up to a 44% yield), after 2 or 2.5 h of irradiation at 80 or 50 °C, respectively.
