The article investigates the causes of the Morandi viaduct collapse in Genoa. This three-span viaduct was a part of the A10 motorway leading to Savona. The structure design of the viaduct supports and diagonal stay cables was unique. The viaduct included three cable-stayed system, each supported a three-span continuous beam by two sets of prestressed concrete cables on the two sides of the pylon across the width. The pair of V shapes piers supported upside-down V pylons that supported the top ends of two pairs of diagonal stay cables. The stays were constructed from steel cables with prestressed concrete shells poured on. This article provides information on the technical condition of the viaduct and the way of strengthening the cables in the early 1990s. At that time, the author of the article visited the structure. In August 2018, the viaduct collapse occurred, and one of the structure supports collapsed. In June 2019, during the demolition process, the other two supports were destroyed. Since in Venezuela and Libya there are still two more bridges with a structure similar to that in Italy, the concept of strengthening the structure, as proposed by the author of the article 25 years ago, may still be useful.

<p>Women and emancipation are two things that can not be separated, both are like two sides  of the same coin. One form of women's emancipation is a freedom of determining a spouse. This research aims to describe the several forms of women's freedom of determining a spouse in short story of Kahlil Gibran entitled Wardah Al Hānī based on literary sociology theory of Rene Wellek and Austin Warren. The methodology used to realize that aim is descriptive qualitative. The results reveal that women's freedom of determining a spouse is divided into two perspectives, one relates to the opinion of the character in a story and other determined by his behaviors. In the first side, the character has an opinion that the real happiness in the life only can be brought by love. So, she must choose the man she loved. And in another side, the women's freedom is shown by the way she left her legal husband and went to the other beloved man to make her happiness life.</p><p> </p>

The issue of an independent Scotland's relationship with the European Union (EU) has been one of the most contentious and recurring issues of the referendum campaign. Discussion, to date, has been characterised by competing assertions from the two sides of the campaign. There has been little in the way of reasoned debate and consideration of the issue. Instead it has become grist to the mill of two campaign meta-narratives, one concerning the uncertainty inherent in a ‘Yes’ vote and the other concerning the continuity and stability that Scotland would enjoy following a ‘Yes’ vote. In this essay I will problematise the official position set out by the European Commission, clarify some of the outstanding issues, and raise questions about the proposed timescale for securing an independent Scotland's continuing membership of the EU. I argue that it would be in the interests of all parties, in the event of a ‘Yes’ vote, to avoid a scenario in which Scotland found itself outside of the EU and its legal framework for any period of time.

Abstract The aim of the article is to show the changes taking place in the structures of logistical support of the Polish Navy, focusing on the changes in the way of supplying ships of the Polish Navy. In recent years, the Polish Navy has undergone many changes in the subject matter, starting from the liquidation of the Logistics of the Polish Navy and the Polish Navy Command, including the Management of Logistics Planning. The changes contributed to the centralization of Logistics, creating the Inspectorate for Armed Forces Support of the Republic of Poland, which focused on the main burden of tasks related to, among others, repairs, modernization and supply of ships. On the other hand, it extends the time of issuing opinions on, for example, the protocols for assessing the technical condition of military equipment (ME), which are the basis for the replacement, repair or further exploitation of the ME.

The differences between English and Chinese history and culture lead to the differences in the way of thinking between the two nations, and these differences in the way of thinking naturally reflect in the languages, from which the dialectical relations between English and Chinese arises in some aspects. There is a contradictory relation which is both opposite and unified between common terms in English-Chinese translation. To study the unity of opposites in English-Chinese translation is not to reconcile the contradictions, but to face up to them. Only by knowing what the problems are can we try to find a way to solve them. This paper aims to clarify the origins and definitions of these terms, make a deep analysis to them and then conclude the necessity of their independent existence in translation strategy, method and technique, and at the same time prove that under certain conditions these terms are unified, and that the two sides, which have opposing and unified relations, can also realize the transformation from one side to the other.

<p>This study discusses the concept of multiculturalism according to the santris and its relation to their religiosity. Santris are those who study at the pesantren, the indigenous form of education in Indonesia. The paper offers a descriptive elaboration of what these santris think of multiculturalism and how they relate it to their belief and religious tradition. It argues that multiculturalism has been the very character of the pesantren in which santris of various cultural background stay to study. How thismulticulturalism works and how it influences the santris in the way they look at the idea of nation-hood is the question that needs to be explored. And this paper aims at doing just that. Nation-hood is just another form of multiculturalism. While the santris are used to a life of a multicultural nature, the question of how they adapt to the national culture on the one hand, and how religion shapes the way they behave on the other becomes of particular interest. This paper will show that religion and nationalism are two sides of the same coin—as it were—in the life of the santris.</p>

This aims to review and analyze the Jordanian experiment in the developmental regional planning field within the decentralized managerial methods, which is considered one of the primary basic provisions for applying and success of this kind of planning. The study shoed that Jordan has passed important steps in the way for implanting the decentralized administration, but these steps are still not enough to established the effective and active regional planning. The study reveled that there are many problems facing the decentralized regional planning in Jordan, despite of the clear goals that this planning is trying to achieve. These problems have resulted from the existing relationship between the decentralized administration process’ dimensions from one side, and between its levels which ranged from weak to medium decentralization from the other side, In spite of the official trends aiming at applying more of the decentralized administrative policies, still high portion of these procedures are theoretical, did not yet find a way to reality. Because any progress or success at the level of applying the decentralized administrative policies doubtless means greater effectiveness and influence on the development regional planning in life of the residents in the kingdom’s different regions. So, it is important to go a head in applying more steps and decentralized administrative procedures, gradually and continuously to guarantee the control over any negative effects that might result from Appling this kind of systems.   © 2018 JASET, International Scholars and Researchers Association

The original version of "the theory of economy management", developed in the 1920s by Russian economists-emigrants who called themselves "Eurasians" (N. Trubetskoy, P. Savitskiy, etc.) is analyzed in the article. They considered this theory to be the basis of the original Russia's way of economic development. The Eurasian theory of economy management focuses on two sides of enterprise activity: managerial as well as social and moral. The Eurasians accepted the Soviet economy with the large share of state regulation as the initial step of development. On the other hand they paid much attention to the private sector activity. Eurasians developed a theoretical model of the mixed economy which can be attributed as the Russian economic school.
