Current lighting industry faces a new situation, and that is rapid progress of technology in the world, rise of emerging applications, acceleration of market penetration and adjustment of competition pattern. The concentration of China’s industries has been further improved. Leading enterprises have accelerated their expansion, and overseas market expansion has accelerated. Integrating mergers and acquisitions becomes the mainstream. The study combed present development situation and current problems of China’s LED lighting industry. A case was chose to analyze technological innovation’s effect on development of LED lighting industry, and the suggestions for further developing China’s LED lighting industry were put forward. Results show that the key technology of lighting industry makes a significant breakthrough in China and optimizes product structure.

Mobile industry in India is has become one of the fastest developing industries world over. Indian mobile subscribers have become used to touch mobiles within a relatively short span of time. India is the second biggest market in the world for mobile services and it is a good avenue for network providers from India and abroad. Global providers too have occupied and earned reasonable market shares in the Indian mobile industry. Jio’s practically free offers have created fundamental changes in consumer behavior along with competitor strategies. The moves made by this new entrant has affected the equilibrium in the mobile industry and made rival players vulnerable, so much so that many of them have resorted to mergers and acquisitions to avoid bleeding away to bankruptcy. All major players in the industry, e.g. Airtel, Idea, Vodafone etc. are strategically responding to Jio’s market penetration move. To come to a position of strenght in the industry, Idea and Airtel are entering into ventures with Vodafone and Telenor respectively. Through this paper the author wishes to make an attempt to examine the impact of Jio on competitive strategies of rivals in the Indian telecom industry.

This paper introduces Malaysia’s LED lighting policy measures and standard certification system, investigates policies and measures issued and implemented in recent years to promote the development and promotion of the LED lighting industry, and analyzes the norm leading effect of LED lighting related standards and certification system on the LED lighting markets. It also puts forward the feasibility to strengthen the coordination of LED product standards and labelling with Malaysia, and develop regional technical specifications for LED products.

As a big country with the production and sale of lighting products in the world, LED lighting products are widely used in China, and the LED lighting industry is playing an important role in the whole national economy. To analyze the characteristics and experience of the development of China’s LED lighting industry, the development history of China’s LED lighting industry was reviewed, the characteristics of the development of China’s LED lighting industry were summarized, and the development prospect of China’s LED lighting industry was forecasted. Results show that the development of LED lighting industry in China is divided into three stages, which show the characteristics of industrial policy support, core technology leap breakthrough and industrial agglomeration effect. The conclusion has guidance and reference for the development of LED lighting industry in developing countries.

This paper introduces the policy measures, regulations and standard systems of the LED lighting industry in EU, and analyzes the role of the EU’s policy measures in promoting the level of its LED lightning technologies and accelerating the industry development, as well as the positive significance of the EU’s standards and regulations in standardizing and leading the promotion and application of LED lighting products, realization of economic and social benefits, amongst others. In this paper, it is suggested that China should further enlarge policy-based support for promotion and application of key LED lighting technologies and products, enrich and improve the standard system, strengthen the implementation of standards, and set up a benign feedback mechanism for evaluation of standards.

Solid-state lighting technology is rapidly gaining acceptance in lighting industry street lighting, traffic lighting, decorative lighting, projection displays, display backlighting, automotive lighting, and so on. Differing from conventional light sources that use tungsten filament, plasma, or gases to generate light, solid-state lighting is based on organic or inorganic light emitting diodes (LEDs), and has the potential to generate light with almost 100 % efficiency. LED luminaires have a long lifetime and are environmentally friendly with no toxic mercury contained. However, the success of these luminaires depends on system design, which comprises an understanding of several factors such as performance and control. In this chapter, we shall touch upon some technological advancements in the field of solid-state lighting technologies and challenges that limit their market penetration for consumer lighting.
