A társadalmi helyzet jelentős szerepet játszik életünkben, így a sportiskolai rendszerben is, különös tekintettel a vizsgálat fókuszában álló köznevelési típusú sportiskolákra. Ezen intézmények célja a sportkarrier támogatása mellett a tanulmányi eredményesség növelése is. Célunk a hazai köznevelési típusú sportiskolákban tanuló diákok szocio-ökonómiai státuszának felmérése. The role of social status is significant in our life, including the sports school system, with particular emphasis on educational sports schools which are in the focus of the study. The aim of these institutions is not only to support sports careers but also to improve academic achievement. Our aim is to investigate the socio-economic status of students learning in educational sports schools. For this reason, the National Competency Assessment of 2016 was applied, including the data of the 10th-grade students to investigate their family background index. Then, we compared these data to the characteristics of students learning in other types of schools. Based on our results, there is a significant difference in the family background index of students studying in sports schools and non-sports schools, although similarities have also been found. At the regional level, the average family background index was the lowest in the North Great Plain and Central Hungary, while it was the highest in Central-Transdanubia. In the case of non-sports schools, the family background index values were the lowest in the North Great Plain, while it was the highest in Budapest.

Concordant with classical theoretical guidelines (i.e., social facilitation, social constructivism theory, and the Pygmalion effect) we tested the need for competition and perception of being valued by teachers to be better motivated for learning in school. We extend knowledge by testing these associations mediated by the social economic status given by the well-being of the family (i.e., controlling for gender and socio-economic status). A total of 214 Romanian students (45.3% boys) with ages between 13 and 17 years were administered the PEER questionnaire (i.e., perception of being valued by teachers, school-children motivation, and the need for competition). Results show a positive relation between the need for competition and motivation for learning. We also found positive relations between the perception of being valued by the teacher and motivation for learning and the need for competition. We conclude that motivation is higher when the need for competition is higher and the perception of being valued by teachers is higher.

Using a Logistic regression model the present study investigates the important factors that influence on ease of doing business by the women entrepreneurs. The respondents are from the four different backward regions in West Bengal, India. The goodness of fit of the model is checked in terms of the Hosmer–Lemeshow test. Moreover, a large share of the women-owned business is a single person enterprise, generates lower revenues, and is smaller in size. The study shows that most women are engaged in small entrepreneurs to help their families financially. Though, women entrepreneurs are facing challenges of financing and non-cooperation from their family members. Even from non-cooperation from the family, they are engaged in entrepreneurship after managing their households’ work. The level of productivity will be enhanced significantly in case easy access to credit and support received from the family members. The support may be in terms of mental as well by helping in households’ work. Further, the application of the Welch’s t-test shows the non-existence of a significant difference in income level among the two groups, who have faced complexities and who have no complexities into running the entrepreneurship. To improve the socio-economic status of the female counterpart of the society, initiatives from the grassroots level are absolutely essential.

Abstract Intending to contribute to the marital violence theme, this article has the objective to investigate the presence of physical violence suffered and committed by men in family relationships and the predictive power of family of origin experiences on this occurrence in a sample of 186 men. A sociodemographic questionnaire, Family Background Questionnaire (FBQ) and Revised Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS2) were used to collect the data. Physical violence suffered and committed by men established significant correlations with experiences of violence in the family of origin. The predictive factor for the occurrence was the experience of parental physical abuse in childhood. We discuss the relevance of a focus of attention on men also as victims of marital violence and the relevance of understanding the role of family of origin for the maintenance of violence in future relations.

This study measures the impact of spatial factors on the educational achievements of Russian students. According to the theory of equal opportunities, individual achievements depend on two groups of determinants: uncontrollable circumstances and one’s own efforts. Inequality of achievements produced by inequality of effort is treated as ethically acceptable, while inequality arising from circumstances is unfair and therefore must be compensated. The research is based on the data of the International Program for the Assessment of Educational Achievements of Students (PISA), wave 2018. Multilevel regression modeling was applied. A two-level model was used, in which the first level is that of the student, while the second level is regional. The calculations showed that anywhere from 14 to 16% of the variance in Russian students’ academic achievements is attributed to interregional irregularities. We learned that controlling for socio-economic status, lack of staff and material support in the school, type of area in which the school is located, and gender of the student make it possible to slightly reduce the role of regional differences, though it still remained significant. To a certain extent the impact of regional factor can be explained by variations in the influence of family background, school characteristics and gender across regions. The estimation of regional random effects allowed for identifying both the leaders and the outsiders in terms of the availability and quality of school education. Calculations have shown that the leaders and outsiders are practically the same in regards to all three areas of literacy.

Strengthening the role of the family, family support, and preparation for care by the family at home is needed. One effort is to increase the knowledge of stroke patients and families through health education. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education on the knowledge of stroke patients and families on the role, support, and preparation of care at home. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a one group pre-post test design. The study was conducted at Al Islam Bandung Hospital in 2018. Respondents consisted of 16 stroke patients and 16 stroke family families. The instrument uses a questionnaire. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that before and after the intervention there were significant mean differences in the level of knowledge of patients from 7.94 to 10.38 (p = 0.002), but in the variable readiness of stroke patients there was no significant difference in average seen from the mean value of 14.25 became 15.88 (p = 0.411). In the patient's family, it was shown that before and after the intervention there was a significant of mean difference in the level of knowledge from 5.19 to 6.81 (p = 0.012). Conclusion: health education has been shown to be influential in increasing the level of knowledge of patients and their families regarding stroke, readiness, the role of family carers for stroke patients, psychological support, and preparation for the care of stroke patients at home. However, health education does not affect the level of readiness of stroke patients for transition. Suggestion: readiness to accept the transition in stroke patients is not enough only by health education alone but family participation is needed in providing support to these patients therefore it is recommended that nurses always support the family to support stroke patients.
