- This article is about a model proposed by OBR Fondimpresa Lombardia for the evaluation of concerted training plan. Usually, in Italy the term "evaluation" is perceived as a negative word which reminds critics and judgment. In this investigation job, which is characterized by a participated and shared process, the meaning of evaluation gains a completely opposite sense: it is meant as a "giving value", as a way to bring into light the different aspects that build the Fondimpresa system, aiming to scout and to create some possible improvement spaces. The article is divided into six sections. First paragraph is about the beginning and the characteristics of inter-professional funds which support life long learning. Second paragraph describes the action plan followed by the promotion and evaluation team (the so-called professionals) of Obr Fondimpresa Lombardia. In the third paragraph shall be disclosed the specifics of the evaluation of the concerted training. In the fourth and fifth paragraph are presented, respectively, the path to building the model for assessing Fondimpresa in Lombardy and the results so far emerged. The last paragraph outline the future prospects of intervention, from a critical analysis of the path taken so far.Key words: evaluation model, evaluation brainstorming, inter-professional funds, education, action researchParole chiave: modello di valutazione, brainstorming valutativo, fondi interprofessionali, formazione, ricerca - intervento

In 1993 the SmarTraveler advanced traveler information system (ATIS) was introduced to travelers in the greater Boston area as part of an operational test jointly funded by FHWA and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation and Construction. The service offers real-time, route-specific travel information by phone for major highways and public transit. During the 3-year test period from January 1993 to January 1996, service usage grew to nearly 60,000 calls per week, made by an average of more than 20,000 users. To achieve this growth, SmarTraveler was marketed to both cellular and land-line phone users using a variety of strategies over the course of the test. Evaluation and monitoring studies were commissioned to examine the degree to which users responded to SmarTraveler and the marketing program. The evaluation included extensive surveys of users and nonusers as well as tracking of calls and call frequency. The findings of the independent evaluation team on the success of various promotional efforts associated with the SmarTraveler operational test are presented. Overall, the marketing program aimed at the broad target market during the first 2 years appears to have been only partly successful in increasing the public’s level of awareness of SmarTraveler, in convincing its target market of SmarTraveler’s superiority to radio and TV travel reports, and in inducing trials. As a result of the second-year evaluation, changes were made to marketing and pricing during the third year of operation to target cellular telephone users. Further surveys were conducted to examine cellular telephone user response to these changes. SmarTraveler experienced a large increase in calls and users in the third year, especially in the cellular telephone market. Among the survey findings was that this market is quite price sensitive.

This paper presents modern trends in geothermal energy utilization, mainly focusing on ground source heat (GSH) pumps for space conditioning in buildings. This paper focuses on India along with a general review of studies around the world. Space conditioning of a building contributes to about 40–50% of the total energy consumed in buildings and has an adverse impact on the environment and human health. The India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP) estimates that the demand for electricity for heating and cooling of buildings will increase by over 700% in India at current levels by 2047 with an additional 800 GW of power generation capacity needed just to meet heating and cooling needs by 2050, of which about 70% is required for the residential sector only. It further intensifies as the demand for peak electric load sharply increases in summer because of the extensive use of building air conditioning systems. Researchers across the globe have tried different cooling systems and found that some systems can offer a certain amount of energy-efficient performance, and also occupant comfort. Therefore, this article examines the geothermal potential in buildings for space conditioning by critically reviewing experimental and numerical studies along with the future prospects of GSH pumps.

“And then I sNAPped”. How does it feel to snap at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, at a meeting taking stock of the progress of the UNSCR1325 National Action Plan? This paper is a response to the affective sites of Women, Peace and Security politics and the ways in which academic/activist knowledge has become (un)used by the strategic state. We identify moments of feminist killjoyism, which we call sNAPping, in the context of the wider transition from state feminism to the need to engage with the neoliberal governmentalities of the strategic state”. Our contribution is an auto-ethnographic reflection by two researcher-activists who participated in the multi-stage government-led process of drafting and launching the third Finnish UNSCR1325 National Action Plan and were also the authors of three key advocacy texts. We have used our experiences in such encounters as ethnographic research material to interrogate and analyse the feminist affects of sNAPping.

The Action Plan for Australian Birds 2010 is the third in a series of action plans that have been produced at the start of each decade. The book analyses the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) status of all the species and subspecies of Australia's birds, including those of the offshore territories. For each bird the size and trend in their population and distribution has been analysed using the latest iteration of IUCN Red List Criteria to determine their risk of extinction. The book also provides an account of all those species and subspecies that are or are likely to be extinct. The result is the most authoritative account yet of the status of Australia's birds. In this completely revised edition each account covers not only the 2010 status but provides a retrospective assessment of the status in 1990 and 2000 based on current knowledge, taxonomic revisions and changes to the IUCN criteria, and then reasons why the status of some taxa has changed over the last two decades. Maps have been created specifically for the Action Plan based on vetted data drawn from the records of Birds Australia, its members and its partners in many government departments. This is not a book of lost causes. It is a call for action to keep the extraordinary biodiversity we have inherited and pass the legacy to our children. 2012 Whitley Award Commendation for Zoological Resource.

"Good things in Life begin small.................... SMEs (Something More for Everyone)" The small businesses in India are big nowadays. The small and medium enterprises (SME) sector in India is undergoing a 'Big Transformation' riding on the government's recognition of its significance, in terms of its contribution to the GDP and its huge potential for employment generation. A significant observation indicates that during the last 14 years of a liberalized regime, the country has seen phenomenal growth in the SME sector. Developing and venturing into the new products, diversifying their businesses and services by adopting new technical skills and thereby improving productivity has been the overall action plan for this ever multiplying closet. Over the years, the SSI sector in India has continued to remain an important sector of the economy with its noteworthy contribution to the gross domestic product, industrial production, employment generation and exports. As per the Third All India Census of SSIs (2001-02), there were 10.52 million SSI units in the country, of which 1.37 were registered and 9.15 unregistered units. For the year March 2004, the said number increased to 11.52 million, providing employment to 27.40 million persons and contributing an output of over Rs.3, 480 billion in FY2004. As a result of globalization coupled with the WTO regime, Indian SMEs are beginning to show a sign of steady transformation with the industry undergoing a sweeping change in its entirety. The SME sector in India is highly hetero geneous comprising of tiny unorganized enterprises to modern and more organized factories at the higher end of the spectrum. The rapidly increasing globalization of the Indian economy has been providing enormous opportunities for the small and medium enterprises in India to enhance their business. This paper attempts to find how SMEs could capitalize on such opportunities and the need to grapple with fierce competitionino verseas markets increasingly, which is becoming more challenging with realignment and coming together of global markets after liberalization.
