: Due to the growth of life expectancies and the increasing number of elderly population all over the world, there is a risk of growth of aging diseases such as dementia. Recent research studies also indicate that there will be a growing number of military veterans who will be affected by dementia, already at the age of 55+ years. In the case of combat military personnel, the most common dementias are Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. These two dementias are very similar because their main symptoms are the same. The purpose of this review is to explore two main risk factors influencing the development of the dementias. These include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Furthermore, the authors of this study focus on the exploration of the treatment of PTSD and TBI in order to delay the development of dementias among combat military personnel. : For the purpose of this study, a method of literature review of available sources exploring these two main risk factors of dementia among combat military personnel was used. Based on the evaluation of these literature sources, possibilities of pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches to the treatment and care of these people were described.

Chronic non-communicable diseases are diseases that arise as a response of the human body to a number of factors, the most important of which are ecological and socio-economic factors. According to the World Health Organization, their classification is based on mortality and morbidity statistics. The top four leading causes of death are as follows: cardiovascular diseases, malignancies, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) present a global public health problem, leading to over 40 million deaths a year, whereby the population aged 30 to 69 years account for one third of the total number of deaths. Risk factors for the development of chronic NCDs can be divided into metabolic and environmental ones. Metabolic risk factors include hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and obesity. Environmental risk factors include: alcohol and tobacco consumption, followed by physical inactivity and unhealthy diet. Unhealthy diet, apart from posing a risk for the development of NCDs, is also the cause of metabolic risk factor development, namely hypertension and obesity. The world nutritional authorities are focused on making dietary recommendations to prevent the rising trend and subsequently reduce morbidity from NCDs.

CoV-19/SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus 2019/severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) is a virus that has caused a pandemic with high numbers of deaths worldwide. To contain the diffusion of infection, several governments have enforced restrictions on outdoor activities on the population. Today, we are witnessing the so-called “second wave” COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) with an increasing number of cases similar to the one reported at the beginning of the current year. It is plausible that further restrictions will be applied to contain the “second wave” of infections. The present commentary evaluated the effects of stress on lifestyle during the COVID-19 pandemic in women. We briefly suggest practical recommendations for women to reduce stress and recovery for a healthy lifestyle after quarantine. Quarantine is associated with stress and depression, which lead to unhealthy lifestyle, including unhealthy diet, smoking, alcohol, and reduced physical activity. Women are more likely to suffer from depression and stress and quarantine has acted as a trigger. The prolongation of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world requires decisive action to correct the unhealthy lifestyle that has developed in recent months.

Currently, despite the successes and progress in medicine, incidence of preterm births (PB) does not decrease in the world. Moreover, there is an increasing tendency in industrialized countries. Modern approach for PB prevention is based on incomplete understanding of its occurrence mechanisms, as well as sequence and timing of preventive measures. Primarily obstetricians and gynecologists focus their attention on identifying PB risk factors, as well as on cervical shortening, while prevention includes prescribing medications of progestogen group and / or methods of mechanical action on obturator cervical function. Effectiveness of the currently existing methods of PR prevention are analyzed in the review.

Covid-19 is a contagious pulmonary infectious disease caused by a new type of coronavirus (SARS-COV-2). Covid-19 is a global pandemic that has infected millions of people and killed thousands of people in the world. Cases of death in Covid-19 patients were first discovered in China in December 2019. In Indonesia, since it was first discovered, cases of death of Covid-19 patients continue to increase and has become one of the countries with the highest fatality rate in the world reaching 9.11 percent. The purpose of this study is to determine risk factors for death in covid-19 patients in China in order to get guidance in preventing death in Covid-19 patients in Indonesia. This type of research is a literature review. The results of the study found five risk factors for death in Covid-19 patients, namely age, Covid-19 complications, the immune system (immunity), concomitant diseases (cormobidity), and treatment facilities. Suggestions of various risk factors for death in Covid-19 patients in China are expected to be a guide in efforts to prevent death in Covid-19 patients that occur in Indonesia.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the leading causes of death in the world especially in developing countries. Indonesia as an developing country with the second largest TB case in the world. The association of smoking and tuberculosis has been proven in numerous studies with different ethnic backgrounds. This literature review aims to discuss the relationship between smoking and TB infection. In this article the methodology used is the literature review with two databases are Pubmed and Google Scholar. In addition, study is uses a reference list in the literature with article selected from 2010 to 2020 with quantitative design. This article shows smoking and tuberculosis have a significant relationship. Some literatures show tuberculosis progression rate is proportional to the length of smoking and the number of cigarettes smoked. Another fact that smoking increases the incidence of clinical tuberculosis is the cause of half the deaths occurring in one country, of which about a quarter of a tobacco smoker died at the age of 25-69 years. Smoking is one of the risk factors for TB that has implications for the increase in the number of TB cases, recurrence, impaired treatment and mortality in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. To take risk factors that potentially lead to infection and TB disease, such as tobacco smoking, which should be targeted by using appropriate interventions.

Summary. This paper is focused on the awareness of public regarding prevention of colorectal carcinoma and education in this field. If we look at the lives of our ancestors, we can see that our lives are far more comfortable. Technologies that surround us in every step we take make our lives easier but our pace is faster and faster and that takes toll on our lifestyle – we have less exercise outdoors, bad eating habits, we smoke, drink alcohol, we use drugs and we do not sleep enough. All these factors create stress and strain. Unhealthy lifestyle has lead to overall deterioration of people’s health, cardiovascular diseases, mental disorders or increase of tumor diseases. In the Czech Republic, colorectal carcinoma holds the second position in the incidence of tumor diseases and Czech men have the highest incidence of colorectal carcinoma in the world. That is why it is so important to make prevention a part of our lives to try to avoid this serious disease.

Background: Research shows that there is a high prevalence of suicide among nurses. Despite this, it has been 15 years since the last literature review on the subject was published. Aim: The aim of this article is to review the knowledge currently available on the risk of suicide among nurses and on contributory risk factors. Method: A search was conducted in electronic databases using keywords related to prevalence and risk factors of suicide among nurses. The abstracts were analyzed by reviewers according to selection criteria. Selected articles were submitted to a full-text review and their key elements were summarized. Results: Only nine articles were eligible for inclusion in this review. The results of this literature review highlight both the troubling high prevalence of suicide among nurses as well as the persistent lack of studies that examine this issue. Conclusion: Considering that the effects of several factors related to nurses' work and work settings are associated with high stress, distress, or psychiatric problems, we highlight the relevance of investigating work-related factors associated with nurses' risk of suicide. Several avenues for future studies are discussed as well as possible research methods.
