This article elaborates briefly development of entering and reporting registration system platform according to the requirements of the CAU Library to prevent and control the epidemic COVID-19. The development of the system are extremely significant in supporting the teaching progress of the university and protecting the users on the campus. It has clarified the system development principles and implement methods used in developing the system for facilitating the prevention and control of the epidemic COVID-19 on the campus including good compatibility, comprehensive user management permissions, perfect business processes, multi-mode login, and custom entering record data output. Based on the B/S model, various open source technologies such as LAMP architecture, Bootstrap and LayUI framework, AJAX technology, JSON data exchange format, combined with QR code technology are mainly adopted in developing the system after literature review. The major system functions are realized by five functional modules: user login, application management, QR code management, entering library record management and system management. Each module carries out strict operation control according to different use-permission of users. Compared with the traditional manual record management mode, the research result shows that compared with the traditional manual record management mode, the platform management mode of the library entering and reporting registration system has the advantages of high efficiency, convenience, accuracy and reliability which achieved 100% of the library entrance registration. Because of its strong practicability and high expansibility, it has been widely adopted by other colleges of the university and achieved very good expected results.

For Iraqi EFL learners who are studying English pronunciation in a traditional instruction method often requires more effort and hard work. Thus, using new methods of teaching such as the flipped classroom model (FCM) is necessary to facilitate learning and improve performance. Hence, this study reports on explanatory research that investigates the effect of using the FCM in the teaching of English pronunciation for Iraqi EFL learners at the university level. The study implemented mixed research methods for data collection in a quasi-experimental analysis. Therefore, two tests were conducted on the assigned groups to measure the effect of the FCM before and after the intervention. Besides, a questionnaire and interviews were used on the experiment group students to collect data about their perceptions of the FCM. The study length (lasted)  was 15 weeks and is comprised of 60 students from the department of English, College of Arts at the University of Anbar. The students were divided into two groups, experimental, and control with 30 students in each group. The findings revealed that there was a significant statistical difference between the two groups in favour of the experimental group with better performance, indicating that the FCM has considerably assisted the Iraqi EFL learners to improve their English pronunciation. Moreover, the students expressed their positive feedback and satisfaction on the use of the FCM in their responses to the questionnaire and the interviews. As such, the current study recommends further research to study the effect of applying the FCM in areas and disciplines other than language learning.

Management and Command253 are two different words and terms, but military structures use them as synonyms. Military commanders’ authorities are almost equal in meaning to civilian managers’ privileges and power. Comparison between military command and the civilian management system structure, organization, and way of work shows almost full identity and overlapping. The highest in scale and size military systems are national ministries of defense and multinational military alliances and coalitions. Military systems at this level combine military command structures with civilian political leadership and support elements. Therefore, they incorporate both military command and civilian management organizations without any complications, because their nature originated from same source and have similar framework and content. Management of organizations requires communication in order to plan, coordinate, lead, control, and conduct all routine or extraordinary activities. Immediate long-distance communications originated from telegraphy, which was firstly applied in 19th century. Later, long-distance communications included telephony, aerial transmitting, satellite, and last but not least internet data exchange. They allowed immediate exchange of letters, voice and images, bringing to new capabilities of the managers. Their sophisticated technical base brought to new area of the military command and civilian management structures. These area covered technical and operational parts of communications, and created engineer sub-field of science, that has become one of the most popular educations, worldwide. Communications were excluded from the military command and moved to separate field, named Computers and Communications. A historic overview and analysis of the command and management structures and requirements shows their relationships, common origin, and mission. They have significant differences: management and control are based on humanities, natural and social sciences, while communications are mainly based on engineering and technology. These differences do not create enough conditions for defragmentation of communications from the management structures. They exist together in symbiosis and management structures need communications in order to exist and multiply their effectiveness and efficiency. Future defragmentation between military command and communications will bring risks of worse coordination, need for more human resources, and worse end states. These risks are extremely negative for nations and should be avoided by wide appliance of the education and science among nowadays and future leaders, managers, and commanders.

Abstract Family caregivers (FCs) of institutionalized noncommunicative older persons reported multiple unmet communication needs focusing on the need to receive reliable and regular updates on the patient’s condition. We have developed a mobile app for improving communication between FCs and healthcare professionals (HPs), based on 152 interviews with FCs and 13 discussion groups with HPs from four Israeli geriatric facilities. Both parties participated in app planning, tailoring it to their needs and abilities. App use implementation encountered major obstacles including the bureaucratic process concerning signing contracts between the university and software development firms, which hindered the process for a full year; data security department required disproportionate security levels that interfered with user experience and delayed the development process; the study’s definition varied across different ethics/Helsinki committees (Institutional Review Boards; IRBs), which led to different demands, e.g., insurance for medical clinical trials although no drugs or medical device were involved; lack of cooperation by mid-level staff members despite the institutional adoption of the app project; low utilization by HPs resulted in FCs not receiving timely responses. Despite these and other obstacles, we tested app use for 15 months in one facility in a pre-post-design with intervention and control groups, and we have since begun testing it in another facility. FCs who had used the app had positive feedback and wished to continue using it. App use optimization requires implementation planning, assimilating changes in each facility’s work procedures and HP’s engagement and motivation and thus depends on institutional procedures and politics.

Recent advances in manufacturing technology, such as cyber–physical systems, industrial Internet, AI (Artificial Intelligence), and machine learning have driven the evolution of manufacturing architectures into integrated networks of automation devices, services, and enterprises. One of the resulting challenges of this evolution is the increased need for interoperability at different levels of the manufacturing ecosystem. The scope ranges from shop–floor software, devices, and control systems to Internet-based cloud-platforms, providing various services on-demand. Successful implementation of interoperability in smart manufacturing would, thus, result in effective communication and error-prone data-exchange between machines, sensors, actuators, users, systems, and platforms. A significant challenge to this is the architecture and the platforms that are used by machines and software packages. A better understanding of the subject can be achieved by studying industry-specific communication protocols and their respective logical semantics. A review of research conducted in this area is provided in this article to gain perspective on the various dimensions and types of interoperability. This article provides a multi-faceted approach to the research area of interoperability by reviewing key concepts and existing research efforts in the domain, as well as by discussing challenges and solutions.

summary The Tyrolean telemedicine pilot project linked the University Clinic of Innsbruck and the district hospital in Reutte. Five medical specialties were investigated: teleradiology, telepathology, teledermatology, tele-ophthalmology and tele-oncology. A Tyrolean ‘four-column model of quality management in telemedicine’ was introduced to ensure a global view of the project and to avoid mistakes. In teleradiology, a 12-step workflow was developed, which described the medical responsibilities at each stage. We found that the defined teleradiology workflow and the technical equipment for data security and data exchange worked without problems in over 79% of a total of 424 cases. To ensure continuous quality assurance, the whole teleradiology workflow was ISO 9001:2000 certified.

It is urgent to evaluate the rest of the renewed elements within the university didactic action, overcoming the hegemony of traditional methods in which the professor constitutes as the sole evaluator. If autonomous and cooperative group-based learning is encouraged, self-assessment and co-assessment must also be promoted, apart from the traditional lecturing and evaluation by others. The assessing competence of Teacher Training degree students (n = 175) was researched, started with stratified sampling (in the second and fourth years), following a participant selection process in each group. The compiled data were subject to descriptive, inferential, and correlation analysis by means of statistical software. The results pointed to low execution levels as for the self-evaluation (individual and group), although a certain progress was identified in the four year students compared to those in their second year of study. A better execution in evaluation was observed in all students regarding co-assessment (among different work groups in the classroom) and assessment by others (towards the professor). The use of all types of assessment is proposed, having a certain awareness and training regarding self-evaluation, and counting with a full supervision and control over it. All in all, the advantages of multiple and democratic assessment surpass the drawbacks derived from them.

This article is supported by the author’s experience through a methodology created during her Ph.D. thesis ‘The experience of book’s place at the university’, also during COVID-19 restrictions. The student transformed public presentations into collaborative research workshops, where new interrelations and concepts occurred rooted in arts-based research methodologies, exploring art and education, in its scope. Cardography is an invented designation based on a/r/tography, as a creative living research methodology that uses cards as a device for a visual inquiry, considering that each book’s page is a card to be written or drawn (digital or paper), documenting the dialogic process during each research workshop. The research result contemplates an artistic object, which is displayed afterwards in university and art exhibitions. The reader is invited to follow a fil rouge alignment, inspired by a book structure, reflecting upon concepts and research methods not yet implemented at the art education doctoral course.

Kurzfristige sowie ungeplante Änderungen – wie Auftragsschwankungen, Maschinenausfälle oder Krankheitstage der Mitarbeiter – beeinflussen die Produktionsplanung und -steuerung (PPS) von Industriefirmen. Trends wie Globalisierung und erhöhter Marktdruck verstärken diese Probleme. Zur Komplexitätsbewältigung bei der Entscheidungsfindung zur Fertigungssteuerung kommen in der Produktion Werkzeuge der „Digitalen Fabrik“, beispielsweise Simulationsprogramme, oder IT (Informationstechnologie)-Lösungen, wie Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), zum Einsatz. Eine Verknüpfung dieser Bereiche würde einen echtzeitfähigen Datenaustausch erlauben, der wiederum eine echtzeitfähige Entscheidungsunterstützung bietet. Der Fachbeitrag stellt hierfür einen Lösungsansatz vor.   Sudden and unsystematic changes, such as fluctuations in order flow, machine failures, or employee sick days affect the Production Planning and Control (PPC) activities of industrial companies. Trends like globalization and increased market pressure intensify these problems. To master the complexity of decision-making in production control, tools of the digital factory (e.g. simulation systems) or IT systems (e.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)) are applied in manufacturing. Combining these areas would enable real-time capable data exchange which, in turn, provides real-time capable decision support. This article presents an approach for solving this problem.
