In 2004, the canton of Zurich possessed 376 hectares of uninterrupted open forest. Such stretches of forest provide essential habitats for animal species that favour both light and heat. Standardised surveys, and available data relative to existing flora and fauna has greatly facilitated the evaluation of the forest's vegetation and inhabitants. This contribution presents both the methods used, and the initial results. The advantages and disadvantages of the so called LiWa-indicator are discussed,and the way this evaluation method can be used to manage the plan of action entitled «Open forests in Canton Zurich»is illustrated.

The research on evaluation method of manufacturing enteraprise informatization(MEI) is the core of informatization evaluation system. According to the characters of MEI, a gray clustering evaluation method on combinative weight-fixing is brought forward . In the way to fix the index weights, firstly the advantages and disadvantages of the subjective and objective weight-fixing method are analyzed compositively. Then the subjective weights are gained from Analytical Hierchy Process(AHP) method and the objective weights from Gray Relating Analyses(GRA) method. Last the final indexs’ weights are gained from the combinative weight-fixing method based on the minimum error of optimizing project, which takes in the full advantages of the two methodes. Finally the informatization construction process is devided into certain Gray Types, and the informatization benefits are calculated with Gray Clustering method based on Whiten Function. In the end Three enterprises are chosen to analyze with gray clustering evaluation method on combinative weight-fixing.

Technology in education is a global phenomenon affecting learners of all ages. The breadth and variety of available tools make it difficult to implement a standardized method for assessing the impact of technology on learning. The lack of a consensus on good and bad practices results in inconsistent application and mixed learning results.   This article takes a look at the adaptation of technology to education and examines the various tools used to enhance learning. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using technology, as well as review methodologies for evaluating the impact.   The essay concludes by identifying several problems with the way technology is evaluated and offers suggestions for further research to address those problems.

Stable, efficient and lossless fruit picking has always been a difficult problem, perplexing the development of fruit automatic picking technology. In order to effectively solve this technical problem, this paper establishes a multi-objective trajectory model of the manipulator and proposes an improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm (represented as GMOPSO). The algorithm combines the methods of mutation operator, annealing factor and feedback mechanism to improve the diversity of the population on the basis of meeting the stable motion, avoiding the local optimal solution and accelerating the convergence speed. By adopting the average optimal evaluation method, the robot arm motion trajectory has been testified to constructively fulfill the picking standards of stability, efficiency and lossless. The performance of the algorithm is verified by ZDT1~ZDT3 benchmark functions, and its competitive advantages and disadvantages with other multi-objective evolutionary algorithms are further elaborated. In this paper, the algorithm is simulated and verified by practical experiments with the optimization objectives of time, energy consumption and pulsation. The simulation results show that the solution set of the algorithm is close to the real Pareto frontier. The optimal solution obtained by the average optimal evaluation method is as follows: the time is 34.20 s, the energy consumption is 61.89 °/S2 and the pulsation is 72.18 °/S3. The actual test results show that the trajectory can effectively complete fruit picking, the average picking time is 25.5 s, and the success rate is 96.67%. The experimental results show that the trajectory of the manipulator obtained by GMOPSO algorithm can make the manipulator run smoothly and facilitates efficient, stable and nondestructive picking.

Abstract What is the impact of reading fiction? We analyze online Dutch book reviews to detect overall affective impact, narrative feelings, response to style and reflection. We create a set of rules that analyze the reviews and detect the impact aspects. We evaluate the detection by asking raters about the presence of these aspects in reviews and comparing these ratings to our detection. Interrater agreements are weak to moderate; however, there is a significant correlation between the model’s predictions for all impact aspects except reflection. The detected impact correlates with book genres in the way one would expect: Narrative feelings are highest for thrillers, and stylistic response is highest for literary books. We can thus estimate some aspects of the response books evoke in readers. Initial results suggest that the appreciation of style is linked to reflection in the reader. However, the concepts underlying the impact categories need further exploration.

The Duifene teaching platform is a product of various teaching methods, which greatly improves the traditional teaching method. This article introduces the function and characteristics of a blended teaching platform as well as its application for histology and embryology modules. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of blended teaching method is also discussed. The application of this teaching platform for Construction Project Management modules encourages students to be more enthusiastic and interested toward learning. This allows a more convenient and rapid teacher-student and student-student interaction thereby improving the teaching and learning experiences.

The purpose of this chapter is to determine the amount of knowledge that students who worked in SMEs (in this case, subject matter experts) of the specialization in project management at EAN University in the semester I and II of 2016. It is examined how their knowledge of the tools and solutions in the cloud and the percentage of use of such tools in the management of their projects. Five specific objectives were achieved: 1) Explain the concept of the cloud, advantages and disadvantages of its implementation. 2) Establish the level of information that entrepreneurs and SME workers had about the cloud and its management tools 3) To present some of the tools available in the cloud for the management of projects in SMEs, 4) To determine the preferences regarding the cloud tools used for the management of their projects and 5) To identify the advantages and disadvantages observed by Entrepreneurs - students, when using the tools offered by the cloud.

The field of organs-on-chips (OOCs) has experienced tremendous growth over the last decade. However, the current main limiting factor for further growth lies in the fabrication techniques utilized to reproducibly create multiscale and multifunctional devices. Conventional methods of photolithography and etching remain less useful to complex geometric conditions with high precision needed to manufacture the devices, while laser-induced methods have become an alternative for higher precision engineering yet remain costly. Meanwhile, soft lithography has become the foundation upon which OOCs are fabricated and newer methods including 3D printing and injection molding show great promise to innovate the way OOCs are fabricated. This review is focused on the advantages and disadvantages associated with the commonly used fabrication techniques applied to these microengineered physiological systems (MPS) and the obstacles that remain in the way of further innovation in the field.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are used in many applications in military and commercial areas. These applications often include the monitoring of sensitive information such as enemy movement on the battlefield or the location of personnel in a building. However, due to the highly resource constrained in sensor nodes, traditional security strategies always can do few with attacks on WSNs. In this Paper, we proposes a study of attacks and security mechanisms in WSNs. First, we summarize the attacks to WSNs and the security requirements based on the TCP\IP networking model, then we present the security solutions to each attack. Along the way we highlight the advantages and disadvantages of various WSN solutions and further compare and evaluate these solutions.

There are many various methods, techniques and materials for constructing multifunctional inverted flat roofs now. However, in practice, the constructed roofs of this type often have various defects, whose elimination is rather costly. To solve this problem, the analysis of multifunctional inverted flat roofs has been performed and their advantages and disadvantages, as well as building defects and mistakes made in the course of construction, have been demonstrated. Damp-proofing materials available on the market for making waterproofing membranes for multifunctional inverted flat roofs have been evaluated. The problem of choosing the most effective membrane alternative for the investigated type of roofs is solved by analysing ten alternatives with the help of multi-criteria evaluation method, SAW and three game theory rules determined by Hurwicz, Laplace and Bayes, as well as LEVI 3.0 program. The analysis of the results has shown that the alternative No. 5 is the best membrane alternative among the ten considered options.

This study describes an objective index-based textbook evaluation method that can be efficiently and reliably applied to large collections of introductory textbooks. The method was designed to help an instructor or textbook review committee reduce the pool of available introductory textbooks to a manageable number for more in-depth treatments. Initial results indicated that there was a great deal of variability among introductory educational psychology textbooks in the extent of their coverage of recent developments in cognitive psychology. Based on the dimensions assessed (key concepts and major theorists referenced), the majority of textbooks were eliminated from further consideration. The advantages and limitations of this and other textbook evaluation procedures are discussed.
