The present article deals with a linguistic issue well known in the Bible but not usually overtly present in the terminology of Hebrew and Greek Scripture. It concerns the sexual sphere of human life and is expressed by the verb zeugizō (1 Macc 1:15). This term appears only once in the Septuagint and is not featured in any of the other inspired books. However, the discovery of a non-biblical text which includes the term in question, as well as the inclusion of the verb by the Jewish authors of the Greek Bible from the 2nd century AD, shed important light on the sense of the verb in the First Book of the Maccabees. The exegesis carried out reveals just how harsh was the hagiographer’s critique of, and judgment upon, the supporters of the Hellenization of Judea.

The present article has two objectives. One is to elucidate the philosophical approach presented in the so-called Strahov Systematic Manuscripts of Jan Patočka in terms of consciousness and nature. The other is to compare this philosophical approach with Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s theses on nature, as elaborated in 1956–1961, and to point out some advantages and limitations of both approaches. In our opinion, Patočka’s philosophical approach consists, on the one hand, in a descriptive analysis of human experience, which he understands as a pre-reflective self-relationship pointing towards the consciousness of the world. On the other hand, on the basis of this descriptive analysis Patočka consequently explicates all non-human life, inorganic matter, and finally the whole of nature as life in its own right, the essence of which is also a certain self-relation with a tendency towards consciousness. The article then briefly presents Merleau-Ponty’s theses on nature, and finally compares them with Patočka’s overall theses on nature. The advantage of Patočka’s notion of nature as against Merleau-Ponty’s is that, in Patočka’s view, nature encompasses both the principle of unity and individuality. On the other hand, the advantage of Merleau-Ponty’s understanding of nature as against Patočka’s lies in the consistent interconnectedness of the infinite life of nature and the finite life of individual beings.

The present article aims to investigate the historical and religious circumstances which incited King James to initiate and start the translation of the Holy Script anew though two other versions of the Bible in English were already there. The stormy period England and the English Church were going through in mid-XVI century and the succession of Prince James VI of Scotland to throne (who became King James I of England) and his unfavorable attitude towards Protestantism made him conceive the idea of the necessity of creating a new English version of the Bible which will provide appropriate influence on the Church and keep it away from Calvinist views and ideas. Through the employment of the descriptive method, the author on the other hand tries to analyse the most prominent events and activities which preconditioned the creation of the new English version of the Bible, known as the King James Bible, which has long proved to be the best translation of the Bible in English.

The Bible guides Christian ethics by showing how Jesus and early Christianity transformed the moral conventions of first-century Greco-Roman society by making them more inclusive and compassionate. This is the one side of the coin. The other side, however, is that the Bible also attests to the problem of the existence of evil and suffering in human life. In Paul's theology of cross and resurrection, Christian ethicists confront the ineradicable nature of this problem and the need to identify with those who must suffer.

In Western scholarship, descriptions of translation have emphasized instrumentality and outcome, leaving one to wonder where the translator as human being is in this product-oriented field. Bible translation is equally affected by this tendency. In fact, recent developments affecting the Bible translation mission, including an infusion of funding which comes with a focus on technology and the expectation of increased speed to product, make questions about the translator and translation as process all the more acute. This essay suggests that a perspective on translation has been lost or obscured, and seeks to look at translation “from the other side”—the side of anthropology, which allows translation to be (re)considered as a serious human endeavor, a feature of human life-in-movement, a meaningful and meaning-making process.

The present article introduces eight empirically-tested concepts that guide the crealectic practice of philosophical counseling: philosophical health, deep listening, the Creal, the possible, imparadisation, deep orientation, eudynamia , and mental heroism. The crealectic framework is grounded on a process-philosophy axiom of absolute possibility and continuous cosmological and cosmopolitical creation, termed "Creal". The approach also posits that there are three complementary modes of intelligence, namely analytic, dialectic, and crealectic, the balance of which is necessary to live a healthy human life. Beyond what is physically possible and psychologically possible, an underestimated force of social and personal deployment is the philosophical possible . In a context of personal counseling and philosophical care, the crealectic approach endeavors to slowly connect the patient to a field of harmonious and generative potentiality termed eudynamia.

Along with a theological question, the protestat Reformation brought another one, epistemological: what is the criterion of truth? If truth is subjective, the spirit of a believer is the criterion, and one is free for deprehending whatever he pleases from his reading of the Bible. If it is objective, there must be some criterion of truth. At the beginning, catholics adopted skepticism and denied that truth could ever be known. That is why Father Malebranche attacks skeptics. But he also attacks Aristotelians. The present article shows how he solves the epistemological problem through occasionalism, and trows the foundations for English empiricism. At his attack ons skeptics, Malebranche repeats Contra Academicos and bets on the trueness of soul perceptions. On the other side, he shows that these perceptions cannot ever attain that truth of the things in themselves, and that their only utility is to reveal relations between ideas (which may be empirical). The knowledge would be the perception of such relations, without any Cartesian notion of objective causality. As for matters of faith, since they are not empirical, nor purely abstract, they must be subjected to the authority of tradition, and the most credible authority is the chronologically nearest to Revelation.

This article begins with some reflections on the nature of the midrashic enterprise, focusing upon two major points. Any attempt to delineate the character of any biblical figure as he/she is presented in rabbinic literature is mistaken in its basic presuppositions. The Rabbis did not see the narratives they derived from their excavations into the biblical text as having the same level of facticity and historicity as they did the narrative of the Bible itself. An analysis of the “Our father Jacob never died” discussion in Talmud Bavli, Ta’anit 4b follows, and it leads to the conclusion that midrashic narrative is explicitly demarcated from the historical-literal reconstruction of past events. The remainder of the paper deals with the retelling of the Cain killing Abel history, or rather with the three different reconstructions of that story, in Bereshit Rabbah, and with the detailing of the method by which Cain killed Abel. One is presented as midrashic exegesis and the other as maximalist antiquarian exegesis, and the argument is made that these modes should be radically demarcated from each other.

      Progress of technology and its developed is going so rapidly nowadays and it provide big affect on human life, some of them were education and daily life. Due to its development we also know the other form of calendar which is in digital form that we usually found in gadgets such as handphone or tablets and surely it is portable. Rinfo which is an email supporting facilities for the needs of Raharja College may help Pribadi Raharja in coordination and communication about task and/or event. Rinfo has some applications that integrated with Rinfo itself, such as RinfoGroup, RinfoSites, RinfoDocs, RinfoDrive, RinfoH and RinfoCal. RinfoCal is an calendar application that can be use as schedule time reminder application and it will send any reminder not only to one person but some or couple persons. RinfoCal may sent an pop-up notification or email notification. This paper will discuss about what is RinfoCal, how to use it, what’s the purpose of using RinfoCal, benefit of RinfoCal and so on. But, instead of its benefit, there are also some shortages including many people who using Rinfo doesn’t get the benefit of RinfoCal because they just pretending that RinfoCal is just an usual calendar.  This paper also present six problems from conventional reminder that will solved by RinfoCal fews are just doing reminders only once at a time or just remembering only one person, a mind mapping to simplify the analyze of problem and make the best solution, eight literature reviews that had been done to help analyzing problems of research.

Raymond Carver’s work provides the opportunity for a spiritual reading. The article that offers the greatest insight into spirituality is William Stull’s “Beyond Hopelessville: Another Side of Raymond Carver.” In it we can notice the darkness which is dominant in Carver’s early works with the optimism that is an essential part of Carver’s work “Cathedral”. A careful reading of “A Small Good Thing” and “The Bath” can give the idea that they are based on the allegory of spiritual rebirth which can be interpreted as a “symbol of Resurrection”. Despite Stull’s insisting in Carver’s stories allusions based on the Bible, it cannot be proved that the writer has made use of Christian imagery. Therefore, it can be concluded that spirituality in Carver’s work is one of the most confusing topics so far in the literary world because on one hand literary critics find a lot of biblical elements and on the other hand Carver himself refuses to be analyzed as a Christian writer.

Education is essential for human life. Because with education, humans will experience a change, from not knowing to know. It can be said, that education is a noble effort in order to eradicate foolishness and humanizing human. According to what Immanuel Kant said that human could be human because of education. In Indonesia, the issues of the curriculum which is a government policy are one of the problems in education. The demands of the curriculum that want to measure the ability of the student just from numbers are one problem in the education world. Because education obviously cannot be narrowed down jus like that in numbers. These problems clearly cannot be solved easily. In one side, it must be admitted that the education system in Indonesia is very towards achieving a result. On the other side, a teacher must focus on teaching about true values. Based on the description above, this article will discuss the comparative philosophy of education in Y.B Mangunwijaya and Ki Hadjar Dewantara, and their relevance to education in Indonesia.
