It is with real pleasure that I introduce this issue of Boyhood Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal (BHS), my first full issue as Editor. The past few months have been a learning curve in terms of the roles and responsibilities expected when editing an international journal, but I am very pleased with what we have to offer here. At a very important and critical time for gender scholars, I want to use this editorial as a general announcement of the editorial change, or addition, in editorship and the future direction, I would like to take the journal in. It is also an opportunity to introduce editorial board members, old and new to the readership and to outline what follows in volume 12, issue 1.

For the past 18 months the NASPA Journal Editorial Board has been engaged in an ongoing conversation about the future direction of the Journal. Among the issues we have discussed are: What should comprise the content of the Journal?, How do we decide when or if we will move the Journal to an electronic format?, What do our members want in the Journal?, and What type of scholarship should we be publishing? The last question — What type of scholarship should we be publishing? — led to an energetic conversation within the Editorial Board.

The author gives an overview of the history of National Security and the Future (NSF). The first editorial board accepted a clear vision and mission of the NSF. That is why the NSF had to react to the political circumstances in which the journal has operated for 20 years. In the first period, international circumstances and the policy of detuđmanization directly influenced the choice of topics and papers published in the journal. For the past five years, the NSF has paid particular attention to the security of national and European critical infrastructure. A total of 257 texts were published on more than 8,000 pages and authored by 134 authors from 25 countries. The NSF has published studies on historical forgery, information operations, production of "fake news" and contributions to the theory and methodology of intelligence activities.

Antarctic Science is now in its tenth year with the number of pages increasing, its citation rate increasing and the enthusiasm of its editors undimmed! This special issue of the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education was prepared to help celebrate the 25th anniversary year of the journal. President Mary Lindquist appointed an ad hoc task force to develop activities to mark this 25th year. Input was solicited from former editorial board members and editors and from others throughout mathematics education. We came to a recognition that doing something to reflect on the journal's journey over the past 25 years, while underscoring the scholarship that guides our work, would be a vehicle to help look ahead to the next 25 years.

In response to correspondence relating to the need to consider the internationalisation of the British Journal of Occupational Therapy and to achieve an impact factor rating, this communication from its Editorial Board discusses the issues involved and provides information on work in progress. The relevance to clinical practice is also highlighted. It is hoped that this communication will lead to discussion on the future direction of the journal.

Abstract The PeriodO project seeks to fill a gap in the landscape of digital antiquity through the creation of a Linked Data gazetteer of period definitions that transparently record the spatial and temporal boundaries assigned to a given period by an authoritative source. Our presentation of the PeriodO gazetteer is prefaced by a history of the role of periodization in the study of the past, and an analysis of the difficulties created by the use of periods for both digital data visualization and integration. This is followed by an overview of the PeriodO data model, a description of the platform's architecture, and a discussion of the future direction of the project.

Where we have been can tell us a great deal about where we are going. If we wish to direct the future, then understanding the past can help us see how much we actually influence that direction. Ignorance of the past, on the other hand, allows unrealistic expectations and creates unnecessary frustration. The history of accounting higher education in the United States is most informative for anyone who wants to influence the future direction of our profession. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief overview of the history of accounting higher education in the U.S., from its beginnings to its settled position in the university. This historical overview informs us that the profession of public accounting had everything to do with establishing and growing accounting education. Around the time of the Second World War, however, forces were set in motion that would try to pull accounting education from the grasp of public accounting. The belittling of public accounting, first in the name of the new management accounting and then by the Foundation Reports, combined with public accounting leaders' ongoing desire for a five-year education requirement above all other educational reforms, resulted in accounting higher education's inability to single-mindedly identify its goals and work toward them.

Desetletno obdobje izhajanja Biltena Slovenske vojske (Bilten SV) je priložnost za analizo prehojene poti, pa tudi za pogled v prihodnost. V članku so predstavljeni kvantitativni kazalci uspešnosti izhajanja publikacije: pregled izdanih številk, število prispevkov, število natisnjenih strani in obravnavanih vprašanj z različnih področij delovanja Slovenske vojske in širšega obrambnega sistema ter število avtorjev. Več kot 150 avtorjev je skupaj oblikovalo skoraj 200 predvsem strokovnih člankov. Na začetku leta 2008 je bil oblikovan novi uredniški odbor, že sedmi po vrsti, ki si je zastavil nekaj smelih ciljev, ki jih predstavljamo v nadaljevanju. Seveda pa so glavni izzivi povezani s ciljem uredniške politike, da se v razvrstitvi strokovnih publikacij Bilten SV uvrsti v višji razred, da se povečata strokovnost in število znanstvenih prispevkov, da tako postane ogledalo strokovnosti in profesionalnosti naše vojske. Temu izzivu sledijo predstavljena vizija in strategija uredniškega odbora ter predvsem povabilo k širjenju kroga ustvarjalcev in mreže prejemnikov oziroma bralcev. The tenth anniversary of the Slovenian Armed Forces' Bulletin (in the further text: SAF Bulletin) provides an opportunity to make an in­depth analysis of the past and a view to the future. The article presents analytical indicators of the past period and achievements in terms of the number of issues, printed pages and topics covering various areas of Slovenian Armed Forces' operations and beyond. More than 150 authors have participated in the creation of almost 200 predominantly subject­matter related articles. The beginning of the year 2008 saw the establishment of the new editorial board, the seventh in the row that set some ambitious goals also described in this article. The main challenges are linked with the desire and goal of the SAF Bulletin editorial policy to improve its ranking in the classification of professional publications, to upgrade the level of professionalism and to increase the number of scientific articles, thereby reflecting the level of expertise and professionalism of the Slovenian Armed Forces. This challenge is the basis for the presented vision and strategy of the editorial board and, most of all, an invitation to expand the network of authors, subscribers and readers.

Interventional Neuroradiology (INR) is an international journal devoted to a highly sub-specialized field with international editorial board members and a representative journal through which the specialty of neurointervention has continuously evolved, especially through the efforts and passion of Professor Pierre Lasjaunias. Articles in INR are submitted by authors in many countries worldwide and are peer reviewed by international referees. Considering that interventional neuroradiology is the highly specialized field that INR pursues, the impact factor or the Eigenfactor score of INR is still very low partly because the LinkOut services, including PubMed, are not yet provided in a sufficiently open way. Ethical research standards should also be emphasized in INR.

Dear Reader, I have followed the progress of Indian Drugs for more than three decades, and have the privilege of being on its editorial board for the last many years. Currently, the journal is in its 55th year, since its inception in 1963. There are many stalwarts, many of them still living, who have nurtured this journal in different roles, through its journey of more than five decades. They did their best, and that is the reason the journal has survived all through these years, without even being handled by a commercial publisher. The Editors, Advisory, and Editorial Board members of the journal and staff of IDMA deserve congratulations for their all-out effortsand making sure that the journal is timely published month after month, year after year. The journal has even been modernizing over the period, and now for several years (since 2012) it is available on-line, apart from being circulated in the print form. It is also abstracted widely presently.
