Abstract Alcoa C238 is a cold-finished aluminum wrought product developed for applications requiring postbrazing and welding strength. The alloy has good machinability and roll-threading characteristics. It has slightly lower corrosion resistance as compared to 6xxx series alloys. Alloy C238 has excellent welding and very good brazing properties. Initial applications include fittings and connectors that are brazed and/or welded. This product is also available in cold-heading rod that has been used to cold-form connectors. This datasheet provides information on tensile properties. Abstract AlcoTec Filler Metal 4643 is a reduced-silicon, magnesium-added filler metal used to weld the 6xxx series alloys. Welds meet the high mechanical properties of the 6xxx series, particularly in multipass welding and when low dilution exists. There is no advantage in using 4643 compared to 4043 or other filler metals when no heat treatment is done after welding. The corrosion resistance is very good.
